Does the Steinheil EX Ultra Crystal have cutouts for the flash and front camera? Its hard to tell from their website. I read that they did not at first, but I was wondering if they had changed this and if all the shipping units had cutouts for both. TIA

The front screen protector does not have a camera cutout, but IMHO it has no effect on picture quality. For the rear, they include a separate package of 2 "updated" protectors with cutouts for the flash... so you actually get 2 fronts, 2 side sets, and 4 backs (2 with cutout, 2 without).

I should add that the side protectors are a different material than the front and back screens, and also i have noticed that they slightly reduce the "give" i had in my bumper prior to installing the SPG EX

Thank you for the repsonse. As long as the front film has no effect on the PQ then all is well.

How is the overall installation process since it is a dry-install? I recently purchases some wrapsol film and the dry install was a HUGE PITA. Correct me if i'm wrong but the Steinheil EX films are rigid so it would appear that this would make a dry install MUCH easier compared to the wrapsol...or no?

i'm soooo pleased with the ultra.. here are a couple of shots i took. nobody can tell there is a screen protector on my phone.. it's great..

That is actually good to hear. My main problem with the bumper has been the "loose fit". You don't have a bulging of the sides of the bumper do you? Some wrapsol owners have reported that with the Ultra film applied to the sides that when the bumper is placed on the iPhone 4 that it begins to bulge at the sides and give it a semi oval look because it does not fit well. It would be nice if this film does not have that issue.

That looks really good BulletToothTony. Do you have any issues around the home button or speaker with the film not sticking? It doesn't look like it from the pictures but its kind of hard to tell. But overall it looks WAAAAY better than the Wrapsol films have been coming out.

Received my Ultra Crystal set yesterday and installed it today. Real easy install (except the button sticker) and loving how it looks.

If you need to get dust off, don't use tape. Use an Avery type mailing label. That's what the "dust tape" that SGP includes is. Scotch tape will work but it's more sticky than it needs to be. Avery label was way easier.

I had no issues with the button cutout not sticking, it looks great.

A minuscule part of the speaker cutout won't stick, but I think this is my fault. Be careful when you use the squeegee around the cutouts. I applied a bit too much pressure on and "pulled it up" a tad around the speaker. That exact area won't stick down now but it's barely noticeable so I don't mind.

I made sure to do a bit softer around the home button and no problems at all.

I did massage all the edges with the included microfiber for a couple minutes included the cutouts.

Didn't install the sides, using a bumper.

Did try the home button and what a debacle. Didn't get it on right the first time and took an eternity to get off. It definitely is a different material than the front and sides. After I finally I got it off I tossed it and my home button will have to go naked.

no issues with the home button, just a VERY slight halo around the speaker that went away after "massaging" it for about 40 seconds.. a bit hard to install.. make sure your AC is off.. no fans around and that you don't go over the sides or they'll be coming loose in no time..

i got wrapsol on the back of it.. looks like crap compared to sgp

I cannot decide which skin to buy. Ive decided this instead of wrasol and wanted to know which skin should i get to protect my iPhone from fingerprints and scratches whilst the screen is still clear? I want a full body protection.

Thanks

Well the Ultra Clear is slightly thicker and harder than the Ultra Oleophobic, but it's also more fingerprint-friendly. Not as bad as bare, non-coated glass, but noticeably more than the coated glass of the 3GS/4. So:

Option A (more expensive): Get the Ultra Clear EX kit and some Ultra Oleophobic front protectors. Or, just the protectors and Wrapsol/BSE/Etc. for the rear.

Option B (cheaper): Get just the Ultra Clear EX kit.

did SGP have an oleophobic full body kit before(EX or something)? I thought I saw it but can no longer find it. Did they remove it because of the LED flash cutout problem?

SGP had an EX Ultra Fine kit which was an improved version of the anti-fingerprint. They have said that the Fine was pulled because of manufacturing issues. There was no oleophobic full kit though.

Do you think that the Oleophobic is as protective against scratches as the EX Ultra on the front glass? I like the idea of putting the Oleophobic on front, but not at the point of sacrificing protection. Thanks in advance!

what i wanna know is if the Ultra Oleophobic as good as BSE. cause right now, im plannint to get a BSE for the front (for scratch protection) and an IS on the back (for scratch protection and a better grip.)

i see. i hope they add a full oleophobic kit soon. :/

For the past day I have been using the ULTRA OLEOPHOBIC Anti-oil. It's a great product. It helps with finger prints and oils from your hands and face. Clarity is awesome. The only draw back I've had is the screen is really soft. It scratches very easy. I have a little nick on mine and I've been using a microfiber folio. I wish this shield was a bit tougher.

for people with the oleophobic screen protector, how has it held up to scraches? same as the poster in the quote?

Remember very thorough cleaning of the screen is essential to remove any and all traces of oil, finger print stuff and everything prior to application. Carefully use a can of compressed air immediately prior to application and AFTER thorough cleaning as the glass becomes a huge magnet for fine dust particles. Have very good tangential lighting to even see these dust particle intruders! I spent way more time cleaning my screen and back of the phone than ever before to avoid any issues with "lack of adhesion" around the home button and ear microphone than ever before.

Result....a perfectly adhered Crystal Film application. Definitely start at the top, not the home button end, unless you're perfect at these installations. Like a previous poster correctly stated, who was right on about this....VERY careful use of the squeegee and microfiber cloth helps a lot post installation to ensure perfect sticking of these films without damaging the home button or speaker areas of these films. Those areas are delicate to install and require a careful touch, gently massaging the newly installed film inwards towards the center of the home button and speaker.

Be gentle, thorough and NOT too aggressive when massaging these critical areas with the microfiber cloth or the films will pull a bit and "show".

great post, thanks

I don't why people keep beating a dead horse, the dead horse being "what skin is the best skin?". You got to ask yourself what qualities you would like to see in a screen protector. Is it only protection? Texture? Scratch Resistance? Ease of installation? Dry app? Wet App? Here's how I break down the skins/films that are out there.

Wrapsol, Zagg IS, BSE, Ghost Armor, Phantom Skins, Body Guardz etc.

Wet Application with adhesive (some now have dry option). Orange Peel Effect and Rubbery Texture. Installation can be a biatch. You will never be able to replicate the nice glassy texture of your naked iphone with these skins, period. I don't care what anyone says. Yes, there are skins that have less orange peel effect, but you will never have one without this effect. They are all made of the same material. They are all durable, provide great protection, but these aren't for me because of the texture.

SGP

I have yet to try the SGP but I have to admit I am intrigued. From what I hear it has the best texture with minimal orange peel effect than those skins listed above. I might actually order and apply an SGP on my iphone until Power Support comes out with their front/back protectors.

Power Support Crystal films

As of stated previously, it's all about the texture for me. Well you cannot beat Power Supports crystal films. It's basically like putting a sheet of glass on your iphone glass. Installation is easy. The backing of the Power Support films has no adhesive, which is why it is so easy to install and easy to remove. The films are not "rubbery" like those other soft skins. It is a hard film. I will be ordering Power Supports front and back protectors once they are available to order. On top of that I will be using a bumper (maybe a vapor bumper if I want to really pimp out my phone).

Thanks for the post rmul86 and for all the helpful info from others here

I have gathered from reading a few threads around the board that Power Support is the best, but they are just slow on getting their product out  I had also read, I think in a review on the SGP site, that SGP forgot to make a cutout for the extra mike next to the speaker. Taking this with the fact they had to remake the film since they forgot to cutout for the camera makes me a bit leery of their product. :/ I know that fixed this issue, but they had a photo of the iP4 way before it was released, so I cannot understand how they could have missed this and shipped out the defective films.
A little help from an English editor on their site would not hurt either. ;)

I think I am going to be as careful as I can with my beautiful naked iP4 and then get the PS Crystal and maybe the iBump bumper.
