Can I get the SGS2 on AT&T? Otherwise, I don't care.

Yes, AT&T will be the first carrier in the US to have it. Then just like the variations of the prior Galaxy S, the other carriers will also offer it. I expect it to arrive soon.

I just couldn't wait, its such a great phone. Mine came two days ago and I'm thrilled with it and its stunning display. The incredibly good photos and video it takes will shock you.

The things you can do with this phone are truly amazing, it redefines ones image of a smartphone :)

Apple raises the bar every release ever since the initial release in 2007. Android phones still haven't reached the smoothness and stability of the original iPhone. The OS is laggy and no matter how good the hardware is, it is hindered by OS.

Right in the bottom left hand corner of the orchard, behind some bushes, is a little wooden gate. Feel free to let yourself out and explore.

You really should reconsider those comments, as they sound a little biased, regardless of your intentions.

PS: If the sgs2 had an apple logo on the back, and an iOS skin, you guys would be singing a rather different tune, I feel. This just reminds me of jealous children arguing over their toys.

Before another fanboy-based "war" erupts, why not take a look at this blog post:

It's well balanced, and makes sense.

The reason I stick to the iPhone is because everything is optimized so perfectly. The iPhone 4 is most likely clocked at 800MHz and it runs like a DREAM! This phone has been out for almost a year already, and it still is just as good as any of these new Android phones.

Try running native YouTube app, watching video through wifi and you might change your mind. Not to mention Maps, notification, multitask. I think iPhone and iOS no longer have the leading edge. That's why thread like this been here for many to discussion.

By "any", do you mean "all"? Have you tried any/all Android phones?

"Is most likely clocked at 800Mhz"

Speculation, or guesswork?

Fwiw, Android users can overclock their CPU if it is too slow (at the obvious expense of battery life) to run faster. I don't see any options for that in un-jailbroken iOS, unless you break Steve's heart, and take over his iOS.

I watched Google's I/O hour long keynote (ironically) using the native Youtube app over wi-fi whilst having EVERY app on my phone launched/multitasking and my CNN app was pushing me notifications just fine. Whilst still receiving SMS and emails in the background.

I just ordered the S2 - will have around June 8th or so. Am really looking forward to having it in my hands. :D

I love my Apple products, but was just too curious about Android last year. Got an HTC instead of an iPhone, thinking I might end up with an iPhone eventually at any rate. But then this one came along...

As far as I'm concerned, it's just a matter of finding out what's right for you at any given time. For me, it's Android right now because I think it's fun to learn a new platform. *shrug*

Also, Android is many orders of magnitude easier to code on, and doesn't require a Mac to develop, nor a developer's annual fee or a new language to learn. :)

Nice choice :) I wish I had the dough!

Sometimes it takes long time, even forever, to start watching video through wi-fi. The way iOS manage multitask is quite poor, especially when using iPhone for a long time. As for notification, too much to say, most annoying part is when receiving many at the same time.

Yes the iPhone 4 is definitely long in the tooth

The samsung looks impressive ! I'm still not sold on android and I have faith that iOS 5 and the newer iPhone will give it staying power.

I agree that the notification system needs an overhaul and all rumours point to the fact that they're working on it. Also, it's not like android's notification system is the best out there either, it is still markedly inferior to webOS's implementation.

Everything else works peachy for me though. No delay in video playback and multitasking is fine for my money...i don't even remember the last time i closed an app nor when last i was forced to reboot/reset due to instability or slowdown.

I have been reading those rumors that they are going to fix the notification system for years now so I have little hope of them fixing it.

I have not seen webOS's implenation of notifations so I can not speak to that.
I have spent the past week with my Atrix after coming from a blackberry. I like the pull down system on the Adriod for notification but kind of feel it gets a little over loaded in the amount of stuff that can get tossed up there. Blackberry on OS 5.0 and 4.6 I liked how it just put a little icon at the top that told you everything plus that kick ass led.

I question why every Android device that is released is compared to the iPhone or becomes self-styled as the iPhone killer.

We've reached a point where the hardware has largely reached a certain growth plateau, and the software is all the same, various versions of Android. When a new phone is released with some fancy functionality, it ultimately has nothing to do with the phone's hardware but with the a few software hacks, which will ultimately be wildly available.

I have said it before and will say it again. The only people who I really see using the term IPhone killer is Apple fans. Android fans quite frankly do not really car and see the iPhone as just another phone. Hell most of the other users of non iOS see it that way. It is just iPhone fans who use the term iPhone killer.

Now yes they might and I mean might compare it to the iPhone but in the Android tech site I follow I have not seen iPhone really brought up in the reviews or even talk about on the boards much. the reviews from the writers do not even really talk about the iPhone in when they compare the phones to other phones. Normally it is another Android phone they compare it with. iPhone at most gets used as a size reference to compare it them with.

You should explain this to the gang of Droidboys bashing everyone for not liking their device.

I think it's individuals rather than groups who tend to bash products made by another company. On any particular Internet tech forum there are going to be some fans who are so blindly loyal that they're just not interested in thinking about what the development of competitors' products can mean for the products of the company they support.

I'm convinced that competition is good for both sides. Improvements made by either the Android side or Apple are bound to push/inspire the other to try to top what's just come out, and that HAS to be good for us - the consumers. :D

So actually there shouldn't be any fan wars here, it's win/win for us all. ;)
