Have used it a few times, and it much better than the 'search forums' included in this site, but more often than not I just use Google with

[whati'msearchingfor] site:forums.macrumors.com
As dukebound85 said, that is essentially what MRoogle does. It just provides a nicer UI and more easy to use options.

Everything it does are just functions of Google, but most people don't know these or how to use them. MRoogle just makes it so you don't have to think about it.

Google is actually indexing posts made as little as 30 minutes before now, so results from MRoogle will be pretty up to date with posts too. :cool:

It's very nice to see that so many do use it, and thanks to those linking! :)
Can you wrangle a Tab at the top?

Might be worth a shot to get MRoogle Search tab added to the MR/page 2/iphone/bg/guides/forum tabs.
heh, I'd be happy for that, but I doubt it as it isn't arn's. I don't think he would want something linked quite so directly that he has no direct control over.

I would have though he would have hosted it on MR, with shameless plugs to the creator.

On a side note: Is there way integrate Mroogle search box and put it where Search Forums box is now..? :confused:
There is already a Google search under the search option at the top of the forum. MRoogle just (IMO) does a better job and makes certain more advanced features of Google easy to use and readily available. I don't think it's something that could be integrated in to MR, nor do I imagine arn would want to anyway. It's easiest if people that want to use it just visit the site directly. It is a good and useful tool, those that do try it seems to go back and use it again :cool: :)
;)
I'm going to sticky this for a while.... :)

Perhaps add the suggested signature (i.e. colour tags) here so people can add it easily. I personally went for something a little more subdued.
Good idea that man :cool:

This is the exact code I use, of course anyone is welcome to change it to suit them.
Code:
[plain][RIGHT][size=1]Can't find what you're looking for? [URL="http://mroogle.*************"][FONT="Garamond"][SIZE="3"][B][COLOR="Red"]M[/COLOR][COLOR="Blue"]R[/COLOR][COLOR="Green"]o[/COLOR][color="#e0de1f"]o[/COLOR][COLOR="Blue"]g[/COLOR][color="#e0de1f"]l[/COLOR][COLOR="Red"]e[/COLOR][/B][/SIZE][/FONT][/URL] it![/size]
[I][SIZE="1"][COLOR="Silver"]Advanced MacRumors searching using Google.[/COLOR][/SIZE][/I][/RIGHT][/plain]
I had previously asked a couple of people who linked to MRoogle to use the link http://t.*************/t/4, I'm not worried about this now and would really rather they just went directly to http://mroogle.*************. The previous URL was just a basic click counter to get an idea how much it was used. I have a feeling most that use it now have it bookmarked so this stat is essentially worthless :p

I edited this in to a post above, but I also added a member search option :)

It's nice to see people with it in there sigs though, thanks all.

What's with your custom 404? http://www.************* produces a custom 404 which has questionable content. I assume you are new to web design.

Actually maybe you should read it closer and see that it's not an accident. Not everyone likes having a site that people can just freely navigate around in.

Questionable content huh? Oh noes!
Darn, when Trip.Tucker mentioned questionable content I was expecting something graphic rather than the amusingly abusive rendition of the standard 404 page.

Oh and technically it's a 403 page, 404's are for not found errors, 403's are for access permission errors. ...new to web design :rolleyes:

[not sure if you were speaking to me] 403 is the correct error, directory indexing is denied on *************, there for you get the 403 ;)

I'm glad this post popped up in the spy again as I meant to put Mroogle in my sig. Enough people have it there now that it is starting to get more convenient than the search at the top of the page!

I thought it was hilarious, and who cares about silly specifics like that, nerds, thats who, great big nerds, I'm glad I'm not a nerd posting on a forum, oh wait... :rolleyes:

No wasn't a comment directed at you e, it's just that Trip's comment suggested that he was knowledgeable about web design but didn't know his error codes... I was just picking nits for s**ts and giggles. :) I wasn't trying to be an elitist... hell I use iWeb and would have to research (maybe using MRoogle? :D ) up on how to deny access to random wanderers on my site. I guess that's one more reason I found Trip's comments about web design abilities amusing.

I :apple: MRoogle. I even have it in my Bookmarks:

The only reason why I didn't had it in my signature was because I thought that I had to ask for permission to edesignuk. :) Kudos to you.

Ill put it in my signature but how do you get a link and make it a word like "apple.com" to "click here"? Sorry was always wondering and i wanna put the MRgoogle in my sig so i wanna know how thanks.

Easy way: Write what you want it to say, highlight that and click the "insert link" button (looks like a globe with a paperclip in the post menu items) paste or write in the URL and click OK. Voila.

or you can just quote me and copy everything below this line to get an idea:
