The only store in Texas as of now that has the pencil is the El Paso store..I'm hoping more shipments arrive later today.

Really? El Paso store is only one that has stock in Texas? I actually got my iPP from there on Friday when I travel out of town. I'm in the DFW area now... How are you checking stock?

I would also appreciate a shout if anyone finds them in stock in Boston (after AceFernalld, of course)

I guess showing up every morning right before the Apple store opens is pretty much thrown out the window since it seems deliveries could happen at any point during the day.

Presumably all Apple Store shipments come via Fedex/UPS right? Maybe some freight, but I doubt it. And the latest I think those would deliver each day is 5PM. And presumably each shipper only comes once a day.

I think it depends on the location. Freestanding, high volume Apple stores like NYC get the shipments right to them, but due to how busy they are they may not unpack until they are closed (which is why the Pencils showed up first thing yesterday morning). Other, slower freestanding store may unpack throughout the day as the shipments come on.

Mall stores, well, UPS shows up at the loading dock and then meanders the back halls for a few hours dropping of packages to all the stores, so that could be awhile :)

Well I'm planning on camping out at Apple today in Sacramento. In the hopes that they receive a shipment. Trying to pick one up before I leave for the next 4-6 weeks for training. If I come across any I'll post here my findings and may pick up one extra if they have it for anyone looking in the area. I'll keep you posted.

None in NYC 14th St. store. According to the Apple specialist's employee app, there are none in NYC! (Grand Central, 5th Ave, 14th St.)

There were some in Staten Island, however.

I got the next to last one at Smith Haven Mall on Long Island! Came into the store first thing, clutch performance! Of course, asking a specialist is next to useless as the lady in front of the store didn't even know it was in stock.

Now the Atlanta stores are refusing to give any inventory amounts. I am told order online if they have them then pickup will be an option. Total crap...

So we're they sitting in the shelf then when the store opened?

Just picked up a pencil at Tices Corner in Woodcliff Lake NJ. He said they had two or three left. (Note: Girl on the phone yesterday told me they haven't gotten any at all and the only way to get them was online with a four to five week delivery. Luckily I decided to stop in anyway to pickup a watch band for my nephews birthday today.)

Want to pickup another and I'll give you a few bucks for the troubles? I'm in Monmouth County and have had zero luck

So, unlike yesterday evening the online Apple Chat was VERY unhelpful this morning. Last night I actually was able to connect with someone who checked local store inventory. This morning I ended up with someone who said all I can do is order online, all they can do is look at the online orders, and that Apple stores are not yet carrying the Pencil.

Part of the conversation:

Rep: "I can certainly look up your closest location. You can give them a call to see if they have it for you although Apple has not released it yet..."

Me: "I'm not sure what you mean about Apple not releasing yet because I see plenty of people reporting they purchased the Pencil in Apple Stores yesterday?"

Rep: "I can assure you reporting is not correct. Apple has not released the Pencil for purchase in store. Customers can now order it! 4-5 week wait at this time."

people like this that work for Apple are cancers to us

When I picked up my iPad launch day I was told that the pencil and keyboard would be available later in the week, and to call the store to check before making the hour long trip. I called once a day and was always told the same thing, that they have never gotten any in. Today, I was in the area so I walked in and asked. The sales person told me that they had received some shipments but employees were buying them and the remainder were usually reserved by business's. So much for Apple's customer service.

Hoping for some Central US shipments today. Anyone with updates from Nebraska, Oklahoma, Kansas City or Des Moines?

So what is the strategy then, anything from the prior day delivery is going to be scarfed up. I cannot see going first thing in the morning then cause they would not get a shipment beforehand so probably not till later in the day?

It seems like on the East Coast they got them fairly early in the morning yesterday, then some more Midwestern ones showed up midday. My local Apple Store in Omaha Nebraska said they typically get their shipments midday but have no idea what the shipments will contain

The best would be both, and mark down when their UPS guy comes.

But like yesterday, things started heating up here at around 2pm CT (I think)

I must say though, I really dislike doing this. I feel very self conscious about the lengths i'm willing to go to get a stupid little thing like this. Makes me feel a bit like an idiot

Sorry :D

Then again, it's sort of fun :)
