None at Boston Boylston at 1:30. Only mention of stock was for yesterday though the story they told was different from experience.
 
It's not our fault, it's how they are handling this, and the retail stores are suffering for it.
Apparently the Pencil is the component that is causing the logistical issues this time around. It always seems to be something lately (taptic engine on the Watch, Touch ID sensor with iPhone 5S, etc.).
 
Nothing in the mid-west, yet.

I do think the "lack" of  Pencils probably has to do with moving warm bodies through the store/marketing than anything else. I adore , but they certainly know what they are doing when it comes to marketing.
 
Just checked both Bridgeport village and pioneer square here in Portland and they have none. I actually saw someone buying one at Bridgeport but they said it was a in store pickup, which I doubt. Missed it by a minute...

On a related note - the Pencils come with two tips. Presumably that means they will wear out and need to be replaced periodically. Does anyone know who we will go about getting new tips?

Success! Used the apple.com chat mentioned previously to check stock in my area. Much easier than calling store directly(and much faster). Was able to pick one up at Southdale store in Edina, MN. They still had a few more, but said were selling out quickly.
 
At Cambridgeside (Cambridge MA) they just said they don't expect to have any today. But I haven't gotten the impression they ever get told that in advance, so I don't put a lot of faith in their prediction. It's just as likely they're annoyed about getting asked all the time. They said lots of people have been asking today.

What an unpleasant experience after giving them $1000!
 
Knox St in DFW received pencils just as I got there. Pretty sure they are going to be gone, 5 were already accounted for when I was purchasing two along with a keyboard.

I'm sure Apple will sell replacement tips. But yes, I've read that the tips will eventually wear out and need to be replaced so that the iPad's screen will not scratch.

Thank you for the info. I was just about to check there after Boylston St Apple does not have any in stock. At this point, I might just wait until my shipment comes in next week.
 
I picked mine up at this morning at 10.30am PST @ the Pacific Centre store in Vancouver, Canada. They wouldn't tell me how many they had in stock but when I called they told me to high-tail down there as they'll be gone within' a couple of hours!

I was able to get one at Brandon, FL Apple store also. He made it sound like they had some left but would not give numbers. I was at Tampa, Fl Apple store before that. They said they opened with 20 and sold the last 2 not long before I got there at 12:50ish. My quest is over. Good luck everyone! Time to cancel my preorder.

Just curious - how do you access the chat online with the apple reps? Am I using the wrong one? I use the "chat now" option in the store page. And three times now the reps have told me to preorder online and then say there's nothing further they can do. I asked them if they could check availability and they said no.
 
Houston Galleria has "a limited supply". No one on the floor knows that it's in stock. They just got their shipment and opened the box to sell me one. Apparently, I'm the first customer. Good luck!

Same for me. I was told they couldn't check stock. I also tried calling.. Advised me to order online. This is way too much... I don't understand what's the disconnect with online & retail.
 
My experience mirrors that of everyone else here. All three Apple stores in Wisconsin have no Pencils today, and as far as I can tell, haven't had more than one shipment since launch. I've called every store three times a day since last Wednesday.

Fortunately, I was able to snag one of two Smart Keyboards from the Apple Store in Mayfair Mall yesterday (absolutely LOVE it by the way). I'm super disappointed with this rollout. Honestly, I would have probably held off on the iPad Pro purchase until the Keyboards and Pencils were more readily available, but thought they'd be in ample supply by now.

There's a pretty significant disconnect between different parties here. Every Apple employee I call seems super annoyed and always tell me to 1) check availability online (which isn't possible) or 2) order online.
 
Well, I contacted my IT team and they are ordering me an apple pencil from CDW, should receive it in 3 days. The benefit of being an Art Director :cool:

Just show up around 12 and around 7:30pm. You'll get a pencil.

They sold the last one as I was walking on. Apparently all other Vancouver stores have them.
