DAMN it still cracked WITH a case on....And we got another poster in here saying even with an incase slider it still cracked.

THERES NO ESCAPING....just roll naked

It should be noted that the SquareTrade warranty will give you $400 for a 16GB 3G S. So, if it will cost you $600 since you are not eligible for early upgrade anymore, you will still need to fork over that extra $200.

Right, but it's not going to cost you $600 to get the screen repaired.

Here's my 3GS with my cheap screen breakage and splash protection insurance policy. It was $32 from Amazon. Yeah, I know it's not the most popular case, but I love it and it's protected very well against the most common accident scenarios.

+1

i bought two of these on launch day. 1 for my new 3Gs and 1 for 3G that i sold to my dad. we work in a collision repair shop and he drops phones all the time. i said in another thread that i dropped my brand new (4 or 5 hours old) phone on the concrete like 4 or 5 times just to show off the durability and the protection it provides.

buy a new screen off of ebay or wherever you can find it cheap, then either replace it yourself (if your handy) or get someone to do it for you..those are you cheapest options

Square Trade is what $96 for 16 gigs? That's equivalent or more than getting your screen replaced at one of the online screen replacement places, not to mention a $50 deductible for drops. You're out $146 if you do get the screen replaced and out over $200 if you need to buy a new phone.

No one seems to be selling 3GS screens right now, which sucks. I'd rather not send my phone to someone, and be without a phone for 3 days.

True, so $146 is not that much cheaper than getting your screen replaced at the Apple store for $199, but you're still out $96 if you happen never to shatter the screen.

I cracked my screen today, and would gladly pay for a new screen so I could replace it myself. I may just wait until they do get the 3GS screens so I can do it myself. I'd rather not have to pay for two phones because of a little crack.

Did you purchase it using an AmEx card? If so, get the screen replaced for $199 and file a claim to get your money back using their Purchase Protection Plan (covers accidental damage and thefts for 90 days). Other credit cards may have this same benefit as well.

I unfortunately used my debit card with my bank :(.

i agree with you on that case..i too have an otterbox case, it's not the prettiest looking thing, but that case has taken a beating over the past 6 months but it kept my phone in pristine condition after a few drops on hard floors/concrete...well worth it IMO

Pics or it didn't happen.

I posted a pic on the first page... :)

but here it is again

Shattered Screen ...... And the new one they replaced it with :D
