People that say people are fanboys are haters.
And I despise both terms (although I probably used both in the past, like just two lines above).
It indicates there is no place for objectivity.

That said, Apple probably learned a thing or two about previous launches and were more prepared, which could explain why it took more (gasp!) time for the shipping dates to slip.

Can't wait to look at that new screen for all the reading I enjoy. Bye jaggies!

Surprised how long the shipping for 16th lasted myself. And everyone I know that wanted one, got one in the first round yesterday. Not the case with the last two versions - it was more like winning Powerball.

Glad I got my 2 iPad order in. 1 for me. 1 for eBay! ;)

I was going to do that with my pre order as well (I snagged an iPad 2 a few weeks after launch last year, $50 profit), however I didn't.

I do have a friend who works in Walmart electronics, so I'll get a few that way and sell them.
I can buy new iPads by selling other new iPads. It's wonderful.

I'm curious why you want the LTE? Why not just tether it to your phone, when you need to?

(US Cellular customer here, and "basic" tethering is free - part of my data plan).

Oh no, I don't want the LTE. I was saying a lot wanted LTE because it slipped first. I am going to get a WIFI version, just wasn't sure if I wanted 16GB or 32GB.

I saw a post on Craigslist in Chicago where the guy was trying to sell his pre-order and was telling people not to low ball him. Granted, he didn't state the price but its safe to assume he'd want to make some profit.

I wonder if he's so much of an idiot that he thinks people won't check Apple's site first and order from there.

If you have LTE in your area, it should work faster than tethering to a 3G iPhone...I choose to tether because I'm usually not using my 1st gen iPad away from wifi, and when I do, tethering is fine...but, if you want LTE speeds...

I have long tethered to my 4G Verizon mi-fi. $50 a month for 5GB with an occasional extra $10 for an extra GB. I use the mi fi with an Air, an Alienware PC and a wireless printer while I am in my RV and I also carry the mifi around with my wife's wi-fi iPad 2 (and now also my wi-fi ipad 3).

I normally do this but actually just canceled my order because of the low demand/high availability this time. With the iPad 2 I was able to make around 400 bucks off just two of them.

I also didn't see this as much of an upgrade from the iPad 2. Although I do want to see that screen!

Good luck making much money at all out of this. Unless the price jumps significantly, after the fees and shipping cost, you won't see much money; certainly not worthy of the hassle in my book.

I'm surprised people are picking AT&T LTE iPads over Verizon ones enough to extend the ship date. I fortunately live in Houston where AT&T and Verizon LTE are available, as well as Sprint when they turn theirs on.

Did I just do something stupid ordering the iPad and Apple TV in one order? The iPad still says delivered by the 16th, whereas the Apple TV says dispatched 16th-19th. Does that mean the iPad will be delayed to be dispatched with the Apple TV? :(

I got the LTE version this time (after having a wifi only iPad 2) because I can't tether with my AT&T data plan. I currently am paying $30/mo for unlimited data. If I want to tether, I have to pay an extra $20/mo and give up my unlimited plan for a 3GB plan. So basically, $50 for 3GB and tethering.
I'd rather just pay for LTE since it is a lot faster. Saves battery drain on my phone too.

I got my order in for the iPad with Wi-Fi + 4G LTE for AT&T 64GB - White (3rd generation) in the one to two hours of it going on sale by phone. My order was complete and I received my confirmation email. I hope I get it on the 16th.

im wondering if apple will be employing the reserve one the night before system like the did with the 4S after launch. I spent 3 nights getting on at exactly 9 o'clock to get the one i wanted. Hoping they do this with the new iPad as well

though i just checked and the config i want (64gb black with ATT) is still showing a march 16 ship date.

Ordered a 64GB White AT&T one last night at 11pm EST, got confirmation email this morning with the same delivery date the website said....March 16th :woot:

This is the first time I have *ever* pre-ordered anything, but after using my refurb gen 1 iPad for some time, I just knew that this will be my main device moving forward. No need to wait and if you don't get it now, probably it will be a few weeks maybe even months until you can get it.

No. Each item ships in its own box. :) You'll get the iPad by March 16th, and the Apple TV whenever it ships.

At which point I'm guessing the OP will exercise the return rights.

Wow... seems awfully expensive for LTE.

I guess back to the WiFi version for me.

It's the same prices that were charged for the 3G versions in the past.

There are 18 models when you factor in all the colors, memory, wifi and carrier options. Only 2 white LTE AT&T models are out of stock 22 hours after the announcement. There are only 2 conclusions. Either Apple made tons upon tons of these things or demand is very low. I hope it's the first possibility. It gives regular shoppers a opportunity to get one and it prevents scum bags from making a profit. Hopefully we can see the same stock levels when the next iphone is released. And this coming from a Android "phone" fanboy. I still have reservations with the iphone's small screen but Apple has the tablet market locked up.

I have a 32 GB wi-fi loaded in the Apple Store app, set for pickup in a local APple Store. Thumb precariously hovering over Place Order.

Anyone have experience with picking up a launch-day device?
How does that work?

Well, that sucks.

Not for me. I am selling 1 of the 2 I bought and want them to become scarce. ;) It would suck though if you waited to buy.

You will easily be able to clear $200-300 bucks on the deal. I'de say that's worth the hassle, which really isn't much hassle. For me, throw up an ad on Craigslist and meet somebody at Starbucks, hardly a big deal.

I would like to think that with Tim Cook asCEO, he made sure there would be plenty of stock. Not just in the USA, but just look at the sheer number of countries being included on day 1, and then again just a week or so later. It's pretty amazing. He has been called a logistics mastermind before becoming CEO, so I would lean toward this.

We'll probably know soon enough. Apple likes to show off their pre-sale numbers, like when they said for the iPhone 4S over 1 Mil preordered in the first weekend. If they stay silent, then I won't know what to think. My Apple stock and I will be a little worried.
