lol my girlfriend went on her lunch break to the Apple Store in our local mall to get the iPhone 6, white/silver, 64GB. no issues at all. the 6 Plus was completely OOS in every config

at least at my store, they seemed to have plenty of iPhone 6's

you're girlfriend didn't get ******. the phone isn't even being sold in stores yet.

edit: apparently this was a joke we were supposed to get. *shrug*

Apple is hoarding iPhones to send to their stores and starving carriers of products. Happens. Every. Time.
Up here in Canada you can buy an iPhone from any Apple store on launch day (if you want to wait in line) as long as you're willing to buy it unlocked for big $$. Carrier stores get maybe 2 or 3 phones each a day, if that.

Combining how Apple.com never really launched and the iOS app kept crashing on iOS 8 GM, I didn't get my order in until 59 minutes after it "started" at 3:59 AM EST.

I ordered a 128 GB iPhone 6 Plus in Space Gray for AT&T. Apple is saying NO launch day delivery for me, and instead it'll ship in 7-10 business days and I'll have it between October 1 and October 6. :(

Sigh. I guess that's just how life goes sometimes. Sucks I have to wait two weeks longer or so than most, but I'll take that over some of the people with a November time frame...

This morning Apple was doomed because they didn't sell out of pre-orders yet. Now they're doomed because they've sold out of pre-orders. Silly Apple, when will they ever learn? ;)

I ordered a 64GB iPhone 6 a couple of minutes after the German version of the site opened. Instead of using a credit card I naively used money transfer.
As a result I didn't get a date because they have to receive the money first (payed on Friday money goes through on Monday) and then approve the order.
I'm wondering, is apple using some ordering system or will I be way behind in line even behind people ordering on Saturday and Sunday through credit card?

Too bad MacRumors got rid of the downvote button.

Radio shack is selling iPhones more than other stores. I went there to preorder iPhone 6 + 16GB they are $899 why?

I'm surprised it has taken as long as it has.

In case of the 6 Plus, it hasn't taken long at all - in the UK store, they were sold out literally before people could complete the check-out, meaning when you put one in the cart it still said September 19, by the time you had entered your address it already said October. I put mine in the cart literally seconds after the UK store went live and there was absolutely no way I could have completed the checkout process any faster - now it's the 6 for me :-/

considering the fact that they don't even reserve one for you when you put it in the shopping basket, I doubt you'll get yours on September 19.

I think Apple really ramped it up this year thinking there would be enough, and there still weren't.

And I think they really underestimated the demand of the 6+, from a poll I saw, it seems to be about 50/50 on 6 vs 6+...I'm betting Apple figured it wouldn't be anywhere near that even.

Agreed on both counts. the 6+ is going to be MUCH harder to get for the next few months.

It's the opposite in the UK - last year, Apple only got a handful of 5Ss for their retail locations but the carriers had plenty from day one, but they wouldn't sell without getting a subscription with it.

That's when the 5S became generally available last year - seeing that Apple basically had no stock whatsoever for the 6 Plus model, I seriously doubt they'll be generally available before Christmas.

They may shift some production from the 6 to the 6 Plus. But nonetheless, it will be a few months before it's readily available. It's been that way with last few launches.
