Yeah that's it. That's the ticket.

I think Mr Ramos needs to get back on his medication. These episodes of delusional paranoia are controllable.

Wait, there is a dormant pathogen on the phone? And they want Apple to unlock it? Why?

Maybe Comey is a secret terrorist who wants to set this dormant pathogen free and destroy western civilization as we know it? And Apple figured it out, but comes up with some lame excuse not to unlock the phone to avoid a general panic?

I'm calling it now: the next thing they will try is to claim it has child porn on it.

Or maybe that's why Comey wants to unlock the phone? So he can watch it? And Apple figured it out and wants to save the world from corruption?

So Anthrax in a iPhone? Is Donald Drumpft president already?

Oh I get it now. When Comey wants Apple to unlock the phone, what he really means he doesn't have the right screw drivers to open it.

Is it possible that he's a double agent for the Democrats to ensure a Democrat victory?

I said that to my spouse Day 1. Although it would ruin Trump IMO if it turns out to be a hoax on his part. He just seems all over the place and rambles at these events he holds and people there eat it up. CNBC started televising the events in whole during their regular financial programs because I think no one there could believe it and wanted their investor viewers to see the full Trump, not just the sound bites.

In any event it's amazing to watch and scary too. Definitely taking down the party by the looks of it. Think it was self-destructing once the TP was included in. I saw them as a third party but probably for numbers sake they were kept in. When watching the Congressional hearing with Vance/Landau/Sewell I pegged Gowdy as one without knowing who he was.

Getting back on topic if Trump gets in, I fear for what kind of national security we'll have and assume our allies do to, encryption aside. But this whole Apple case with the govt's approach and what was said in part has me distrusting them now. It seems like they'll do anything and say anything including making stuff up and try to use fear mongering to get a win for their side.
[doublepost=1457199398][/doublepost]And what really bothered me a lot from the start of the whole thing was "well the County reset the password...oops". No way on a case with this kind of visibility did they send a rookie agent in to advise the County on what to try. That or we have a truly inept department there. Bet the County IT guy wasn't onboard with the suggestion or order either. Could see him saying Let's call Apple because we don't want to loose anything.

I live near San Bernardino and I am struggling to understand how a "cyber pathogen that endangers San Bernardino's infrastructure" is a bad thing.

Those of us on the other side of the valley feel that you should donate him and set him up with a little spot on the Venice Beach Ocean Front Walk (ocean side). He'd fit right in. Some of the currently enlightened individuals there would love his point of view. :D:cool:
[doublepost=1457204036][/doublepost]
Honestly I would LMAO. I also wouldn't put it past him to say that, as he bows out under pressure. I mean this not a guy who cops to defeat. So it would be as a grand deflection of all the critiques of how terrible a Republican he was.

"And by the way, I've filmed the whole primary season and it will air in segments with my voiceover pointing out how well I had you Repugnicans duped as I disrupted your silly debate scripts and heartless platforms."

In my dreams. But there's a downside, of course. Surely he'd think he deserved a chair in Clinton's cabinet. Secretary of State Donald Trump.

Let's change it up. Whichever one wins, let's make the loser the VP. ;)
[doublepost=1457204186][/doublepost]
No, he needs a judge to fall on him like a ton of bricks for trying to mislead the courts.
Slap him with a $100,000 fine, suspend him from practicing law for 6 months, do something to tell the lawyers they are in a privileged position, and if they want to behave like wankers they will be punished and loose that privilege
[doublepost=1457142589][/doublepost]Is there an election coming up where campaign funds are needed ?

How much does it cost to say something that bloody stupid.... in public ?????

So... punish the kids because dad is an idiot? Transfer him to traffic control and he can issue tickets and collect evidence on highway littering. Should keep him ... busy.

We could laugh at this now but with the rise of independents as a "party" nowadays, and more states (like Arizona, I think?) being urged to hold open primaries, we could at least theoretically someday end up with "official" cross-party leadership at top of the national ticket (despite in the past having gone to the trouble of amending the Constitution to prevent it from happening if the election falls into the House).

Meanwhile, setting aside the option of Trump defaulting to his earlier party allegiances, it's interesting that the possibility of electing him (as the wavering leftie-RINO that he is), is coming from the far right this year. You'd think the Trump-pets would go for Cruz, but they seem to get it that Ted Cruz is not really anti-establishmentarian, rather just pro-obstructionist.

Poor Ted. That's what he gets for having suited up to make arguments before the Supreme Court nine times. Way too much of an establishment guy... :p

Apologies for having derailed the thread again...

"Shooter's iPhone Could Harbor 'Dormant Cyber Pathogen' " ???

Is it just me or did guy just make a case for destroying the phone, not hacking it and getting out the "information"?

Saw this LATimes story this morning where San Bernadino Police Chief Burguan says all examinations of the scenes by his department and the FBI indicated that there were only 2 shooters despite a belief of a few that there was a third person--which Ramos has used as underlying justification for wanting access to the phone. Looks like they will seriously use anything they can use as an excuse for this. How do they get by telling this to the judge when all evidence found doesn't substantiate it? So is the public suppose to believe a third person just walked around with them and didn't use a gun? Are we to believe he was shooting with invisible bullets? Guess if you believe in dormant cyber pathogens then the answer is yes. I hope this judge is aware of all of the contradictory info they are tossing out there. Embarrassing and overreach. And honestly if they stoop to this level in this case, what do they do in other cases?

Simple solution. Pull the battery. Disconnect all transmission antennas and cut circuits to transmission chips. No wifi, no Bluetooth, no cellular. And no power.

Then they have full control over what it's capable of.

Or burn it, and be done with it.

If they believe it's a ticking time bomb, then do what they're trained to do, blow it up.

Bring George Bush in, he'll show you how to destroy it.

Set it out in the desert and point 20 missiles at it. Problem solved.

According to their theory, it's now a weapon of mass destruction. Treat it like one. George had it right there, he didn't try to dissect the weapon. If he thought one might exist, he obliterated the area.

Let's take George's lead, iPhone weapon of mass destruction is located in FBI headquarters. We now know where to aim the missiles. Blow that phone up. George would have solved this problem with one button.
I'd put it in a Terminator's pocket right before he's dipped into molten metal, works everytime.

Wait, there is a dormant pathogen on the phone? And they want Apple to unlock it? Why?

That's exactly what I thought when I read it. Is the FBI trying to make the case that the phone should never be tampered with? I mean, the only real way to ensure that a "dormant cyber pathogen" (huh?) never gets off this phone is to destroy it. Unlocking it in any way and gaining access to the contents would be the worst thing they could do. The pathogen might get out. Are they crazy?

I think they really need to re-think their strategy. This one has fail written all over it.

And why San Bernardino? Not being mean to SB county but....if this tech actually exists I would be guessing LA, San Fran or San Diego would be better targets. San Diego would to me be the best prize. It get extra press housing a major USMC base and Air Station...crash the public infrastructure those may use....that will get some extra air time for a wile.

Terrorists take on the DOD on their home turf, news at 11....headlines like that kind of stuff.

Get this more east side....a major NY county, maybe something Boston, Philly, Miami, Beltway county in the MD/VA/DC triangle as it where.

So many legit targets that if this actually existed could be better (this could be one time deal....so you'd drop this code on the biggest target you can find) ...and they chose San Bernardino because??? And what is the source of information or this. We were told the laptop was burned along with the phones. Where is this tip coming from? And why is coming weeks after the incident?

Oh no! Cyber anthrax in a phone! The FBI ought to destroy the phone before Apple hacks it.

Just watched this guy get interviewed on Fox News and they straight up asked him if he had any evidence to suggest that there is evidence of a mystery third shooter on this iPhone and he said no. They also asked him if there's evidence of a cyber pathogen infecting his network and he also said no. When he asked him how a closed operating system like iOS would infect a network he just danced around the question. What a joke.

This is just some baseless claim that these guys are throwing out there since they realize that as more and more people understand this case, the more they are siding against the Feds.

The iPhone at the center of the ongoing encryption dispute between Apple and the FBI may contain a "dormant cyber pathogen", according to the San Bernardino county District Attorney.

After watching some of the republican debate and now this story, I'm reminded of what Carl Sagan wrote about America back in 1995 in his book "The Demon-Haunted World". I was going to link the text, but knowing the attention span of most readers I decided to link the youtube quote. What a great thinker and prophet he was.

the only way I see possible is if the county has an application iOS based with access to internal servers. Which if the case....said internal servers should be coded to clean inputs as part of the process

The code wants to update SQL code on backend for a number of something....code looks for a number (we'll say int or float). Not a valid number....kill process, kick that crap back and tell user to fix their stuff and try again. If data submitted is going in pseudocode

select table 1
from DB_A
delete every damn thing

the input cleaning should be going seriously....this old school sql injection stuff?

Well? :D

I think the San Bernadino iPhone is where god wrote the Ten Commandments. If it's opened, we all know what happens next.

I think it's the other Five Commandments, not the original Ten.
You know, the ones that were "dropped". ;)

A dormant cyber pathogen is really what the FBI wants Apple to create. Since they speak Newspeak it comes out a bit backwards to non-psychopathic people.

Orwell nailed it when he said their language "is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable, and to give an appearance of solidity to pure wind."

You just made my Sunday morning!!! :D
