I had the 6 and sold it when the SE came out. I liked the 6 at first due to the screen. Then after a while I noticed how awkward it was to live my life with it in my pocket due to the reasons I gave above. When I got my SE the moment I walked out of the shop with it I remembered how much I loved it. I never loved my 6. It had zero apple magic.
I also bought my SE sim free.

I have a 6 right now & I completely agree with you. Never managed to love it. Maybe I'm getting old and losing the whole "love for my phone" mentality. But the main annoyance for me was to not be able to prop the phone up without any support, which was possible with the 5/5S/SE design. I hardly use any of the really cool camera features, like time lapse, long exposure shots, that I used to use with those phone.

Well, it is budget, not necessarily a bad choice but it does look like it's straight out of 2012.
Well the design absolutely is, clearly, but I guess the question is whether that's a bad thing. I'm not alone in thinking that Apple went backwards in their later designs (or should I say design - even the 7S is just the 6 warmed over yet again).

I have currently a iPhone 7 enjoy the phone I just would like more battery life . But recently idk what it is but I have been looking at the iPhone se I was in a local Apple Store a few weeks ago and had a look at one and it's a great little phone . Idk if I'd replace or use as a bk up for the 7 but I guess spending that much on a bk up device isn't the best idea. I don't think I'd be interested in the upcoming iphone8,X as I will probably wait till next years version. Then there's the 7plus but I just think it might be too big but then the battery life is far better mmmm .

Bought an AT&T Prepaid iPhone SE 32GB for $150 + tax from Best Buy. Premium unlocking service is around $60-80 or I could just wait 6 months and get it unlocked for free using my AT&T postpaid account.

Wouldn't buy it full price at this point in time but there are plenty of deals to be had (at least in the US).

That is a really good deal. I haven't had a look for any deals here in the U.K. I will have to hunt around. Btw what is the battery life like on the se trying to compare it to my iPhone 7

I heard it's better.

Around the same, I guess? I bring my iPad with me daily so I pretty much only use my phone for calls and camera.

Thanks , if it is better I might get the SE but I will wait for the event to see what apple bring before I make my move.

Honestly, I don't use my iPhone enough to make a determination which one has better battery life. Most of the time, they're just on standby so I don't even charge them daily.

I have an iPhone 7, but I'm looking to replace it with an SE. I just wish the SE had 3D Touch.

This. If the iPhone SE 2, assuming it releases in 2018, if it has 3D Touch and a higher resolution, those would be significant improvements. Apple probably won't put all the latest specifications in the newest iPhone SE, likely to keep the price Still relevant and affordable.

People think that I'm nuts for wanting an SE over the bigger iPhones, but I just love the feel & portability of it. Apparently the SE revision is due early 2018, so I'm eagerly awaiting that. Fingers crossed for higher res and 3D touch.

And the new home button, like in iPhone 7.

I don't care much about the resolution on the SE because it's already Retina display, the things I'd like is 3D Touch, newer generation Touch ID & the latest camera from the iPhone 8, that's it. I'll buy it without a second thought.

I use SE as my main phone at the moment and also have iPhone 7 and 7+ in the household used by other people. In terms of the phone’s speed, etc. the difference in normal daily use is barely noticeable. The headphone jack is not a big deal either, as 7 comes with a dongle, if needed. The 12 Mega rear camera on SE is doing a good job too, except for low light situations when 7 wins.

So the main question I would be asking is how much screen you need, which will depend on how you use your phone. If you need to type a lot or read, watch stuff, bigger screen makes it all a way better experience. If you need your phone mostly for calls, quick camera snaps on the go, etc. then SE might do a trick.

It is also very rare that I actually use SE single-handedly, keeping it lying in my other hand most of the time.

I've got an iPhone SE that I want to go to an iPhone 7. lol.

Same here. ;)

iPhone 7 uses a fusion chip that is meant to be more energy efficient. If you use SE & 7 under similar circumstances (same screen brightness, etc.) SE might win, I suppose, but not by a big margin. If you can, wait until the final iOS 11 is out and look into their battery test stats then?

I have an iPhone SE for usage as my music player at work and despite iOS 11 still being in beta the battery life is aOK.

Performance wise? It's feeling much more fluid compared to my iPad Pro 9.7".

Whereas my iPhone 7 Plus is my daily driver apart from the slower finger print reader and lack of 3D Touch the SE is a remarkable device and one I hope Apple continues to update.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I'm going to pick up an X when it comes out later this year. It seems a hell of a lot larger than my 3GS, but the pros overwhelm the cons (and the X does have a lot of neat features, I bet browsing is fantastic on that large screen).

Does anyone have any comments on storage? I don't see the point of hundreds of gigabytes on a phone. I just store music (~5-10 GB) and photos locally. How much could iOS take?

What he said. Rumor has it a new SE is coming, but the current one is basically an iPhone 6 or 6s internally if i recall. I.e., very old.
iPhone 6s internals (A9/2GB) which is the same as the budget-friendly 2017 iPad 9.7. It's still a very good phone for the price point (particularly in the US).
