I don’t see the DI coming to the base iPhone — I think this will be exclusive to the Pro line for years. The reduced notch has only been there for a year — I don’t think they would go through the expense of this change for only two years of use.
I also don’t think under screen TouchID is happening in 2023 either — or the periscope camera — guessing these are 2024/2025 upgrades.
A 3nm chip and USB-C make sense next year though.
None of that matters to me now — I’ll be enjoying my 14PM soon!

But then the models will instantly appear outdated the following year, and that's not good. I was lugging around a XR for years before I finally upgraded. Skipped two intermediate models.

Currently have the 12 Pro. Hoping to hold out until iPhone 16. As I get older, I’ve noticed I don’t really need much anymore. Photos and videos are good already (and I don’t really take many photos or videos).
Unless you really really want/need better low light photo's or that dynamic island thingy, do yourself a favor and pay apple for a new battery and keep your current phone. Other than slightly better app switching experience with more RAM, and better viewing in sunlight, you wont notice a day to day difference.
Me too, should arrive next saturday, but pretty sure my XS is not going to last another year. Screen dims and drops on occassion when used during navigation. 4 years is not a bad run.
I remember some people talking about the volume up and down buttons going back to being round and Plus/Minus icons on them. Like the iPhone 5s. Walmart is selling it for $59 oddly enough.
Other than giving people a choice. Some users who buy less expensive (non-pro) iphones may revolt if they are heavily invested in lightning accessories. Choice is the only reason to soften the transition by giving USB-C to pro phones first.
I too chuckle at these claims. There will ALWAYS be something new in EVERY phone. The idea that people are outsmarting the system to skip one is funny. Like "I'm gonna show them! I'm not buying this one!"...only to basically commit to buying the next one.So, I literally have had every iPhone iteration since the very first one in June of 2007. I always chuckle when people are like, "I'm waiting for the iPhone 16!", guess what? I am too
Why worry? Next year's phone will always be better. Traded in my 12 Pro for $800 to Verizon, so my costs are minimal. I'll upgrade again in two cycles, like always.

The USB port and touch ID ar the most interesting features, but can wait 4 years, maybe 5 if the camera on the Pro is as good as they say.
13 to 14 doesn't make much sense. One year-to-year major benefit this time is in the Pro series.
I buy the next one when the old one is abot to die, works for me. As you say: next gen always brings something.
