This is what I’m after.
I think a periscope is more needed than any better low light camera improvements. Low light is exceptional since the 12.
Speed bump is great but again iPhones are already fantastic speed wise.
The island is really nice. Not worth upgrading for alone, but I like it. I don’t think apple have just done all this investment in setting it up just to abandon it next year. I think 2/3 years at least.
More ram? Who cares.
New design, periscope, battery life and UI changes and I’m on board! USB C is low on my list cause I have so many lightning cables but I don’t doubt charging will speed up as a result so bring that as well. It would be ridiculous to sell some phones lightning and some USB C.

They've been promising #3 for years. I don't even listen anymore.
Well you are here…. still remember that this is a rumors site. No one is promising anything. Apple is certainly always exploring multiple features and changes. Eventually they make their decision about what goes into a new version. That is usally a year or two before they actually launch. Meanwhile we get reports of some things that Apple is considering, some things that they have already greenlit, others that they have abandoned, and others that are just delayed.

The rumor sources cannot always know which category a give feature is in at any given time. They read the tea leaves and use their experience to provide educated guesses.

We get to read reports of this second hand knowledge and do our own speculating and guessing and arguing. If you want to join in, the more the merrier.

i'm definitely waiting for the 15. my 12 pro max is working perfectly fine and still has 93% battery health since launch. there is no reason to replace it other than for the sake of having a shiny new toy.

the 14 will no doubt be a great phone but it makes no sense for me to buy it. if this time next year i am still happy with my 12 Pro Max i might even decide to just wait on the 16.

I'll use this phone until it breaks and can't be repaired for a reasonable cost (my AppleCare expires in November) or if for any other reason it becomes unusable. iOS 16 runs very well on it so i will see how it runs iOS 17 beta next year and start making up my mind then.

At this point I’m refusing to buy any new Apple product that doesn’t have USB-C.

This Lightning nonsense has gone on way too long already. They should have switched around about the iPhone 11, when the iPads started changing over.

'member the early rumors about 14 with the flush cameras on the back and all that good stuff? About that...

Every rumor about 15 up until Summer 2023 is pure speculation, hopes and dreams.

That said, you should absolutely skip the iPhone 14 (regular).

If manufacturers go back to selling their flagships for 400-500 again, I'll go back to upgrading every year. Until then, I'm refusing to buy into this overpriced "mild improvements" market. For the basic price, I can buy a giant LED TV. For the price of a slightly bigger phone with a slightly better spec, I can buy a giant OLED TV. I've already got a several-year-old phone. What they are offering is ultimately just my same phone, but with hype surrounding it.

You have to look at it to make it work. And then it only works if you’re holding at the right angle. Touch ID is way better. Way way better. For me at least.
I've never had that issue with Face ID, but I can see how that would be annoying. I hate Touch ID after getting out of the shower with moisture on my fingers. They both have their issues.

FYI, if you are wearing an Apple Watch, it will unlock the phone automatically even if it doesn't read your face correctly.

I don’t see the DI coming to the base iPhone — I think this will be exclusive to the Pro line for years. The reduced notch has only been there for a year — I don’t think they would go through the expense of this change for only two years of use
Disagree. According to famed display analyst Ross Young. Both, iPhone 15 / iPhone 15 Pro, will have the pill+hole / Display Island screen next year. His track record is legendary. Ross is the boss

A silly article. The theme gets trotted out with many product updates.

If someone wants an iPhone 14 and can afford it, why not? Fear that their peers will object to conspicuous consumption? Who'd even notice?

If buying one for someone is a serious financial stress, then that person shouldn't buy one.

Yesterday I was in a zoom meeting with a few photography friends showing off iPhone photos. Someone said they wanted to wait for the 15. Someone said they wanted to buy the 16.

I said I planned to buy the 15 and the 16.

Periscope zoom and USB C will be great to have on the 15 Pro Max model

Pretty soon, the kids won’t remember anything before an iPhone 11. That’s probably already true.

New iPhones haven’t had new must have features for me for many years. I just buy a new one when the old one goes bust or isn’t supported anymore.

If there’s a fingerprint sensor under the screen and the facial recognition isn’t similarly hidden then I can finally move on from the 8 plus.

It would even be worth getting a newer Apple Watch at that point; no point having one if Touch ID disappears when the current SE is phased out and I have to hold my nose and move to Android.

I'm on 12 PM, nothing is making me feel the need to upgrade anymore so I am gonna hold out until that USB-C finally comes around.
