Better is the enemy of good enough.

Which pundit has an escrow account for the damp dreams of theirs that don't come true, to reimburse the rest of us for a year without the 14 of our choice? [crickets chirping]

I agree personally. I think the R&D costs and purpose (which has already been solved with FaceID) deem this feature unnecessary. It’s more of a tech list bullet point than any actually necessary feature, and it’s less secure. We have not had a fingerprint scanner in 4 years on the high end devices, why the need to revert?
MacBook Pros 😜

Seems like the second straight year of an s model, but two years is my limit. I’m upgrading. If the 15 is something amazing, I’ll just sell it and upgrade again. Whatever.

Am I the only one not honestly not looking forward to usb-c?
Have had it on my Samsung, and I'm so hooked on it I'm upgrading to an iPhone 14 later this year.

Meh/1st World Problem as far as I'm concerned.

Now, having a notch in previous models was a deal breaker because of the huge performance penalty it represented ..., yeah, right ...

I don't know, I am in Asia now where the price of 14 is lower than in my country in Europe, not sure if I should bite the bullet and buy it because my 7 plus is kind of laggy sometimes.. Or should I tough it out one more year

Apple used to be an innovator - its now a follower and fixer upper. Thye are starting to look like one of those TV shows where they take old stuff and fix it, with a new coat of paint.....news update....you can now get a watch strap in Unicorn Blue!

You forgot, don’t have to deal with a SIM card anymore! Not only do you not have to, you won’t be able to!

Just the presentation of that put me off the iPhone 14. We all know how Apple is but come on, that was outright insulting.

For some I agree this "feature" creates an issue. The problem is.... Apple won't put the SIM card back so it's either figure it out or don't buy an iPhone with this move.

Apple is so dominant in the world they could take a **** in a box and people would buy it.
They are high end products with fingerprint scanners.
My MacBook Air m1 is not even high end and it has a fingerprint sensor. Apple is so stubborn when it comes to an iPhone fingerprint sensor.

By the time Apple adopts USB-c the rest of the market will be on USB-E or something…

Am I the only one who would rather just have a small top bezel instead of this notch/pill sillinesses?
I am still trying to imagine using the dynamic island.

It feels like it should be at the bottom of the phone, for easy thumb manipulation, but that would not work with hiding the cameras and sensors. I might let curiosity get the better of me and visit an Apple Store just to see what it is like to use though.

The notch, on the other hand, does not bother me. I accept the need for something to be there given the requirement to have a face id sensor and camera on the front of the phone. If there was a 'full screen' version though (no front camera or under screen camera, power button touch ID), I might find it compelling.... if it came in a mini or smaller form factor.

I'm on iPhone Xs Max. Phone still runs like butter, despite being on latest iOS. Battery at 90%. At this rate, I don't think I'll be upgrading until iPhone 20 lol.

I would welcome it. I can’t stand faceid. I have it turned off and use the pin to unlock.

I ordered the 14 Pro because it will be a jump up from my XS Max and even if the 15 has all of the things listed... I don't care. None of them are important enough to me to wait a year and to give up having the 14 Pro vs my XS Max for that 12 months.

They've been promising #3 for years. I don't even listen anymore.
No, Apple has not promised that. Rumor mills have. You can't hold Apple responsible for not delivering things that they've never promised.

EDIT:
You have to look at it to make it work. And then it only works if you’re holding at the right angle. Touch ID is way better. Way way better. For me at least.
How many times do you want to unlock your iphone so you can use it, but you're not going to look at it?

I ordered a 14 Pro this morning, and I'll order a 15 Pro next year. I think I'm done with waiting two years, when upgrading is so easy these days.
We live on a planet with finite resources. Nobody needs a new phone every year. Be more responsible.

I don’t understand the obsession with damn TouchID I hate it on my iPad mini it only works half the time. Sweater fingers? Forget about it. I registered two fingers and the other finger never works.

Did a 12 month contract with upgrade option on my 14pro as I think the 15 will be a new shift for the iPhone.
