Though the future is only here and now and nowhere else, man needs the imagined future that is away from the here and now to make it through the day, which is neither right nor wrong. Mere recognition of the bondage of dependency on imagination however reveals the here and now, which is freedom from any dependency on imagination.

I'm going to skip 14 and 15, maybe 16 as well.

iPhone X is great, work flawlessly and still has tons of life in it.

I still don't see any reason to upgrade from my original iPhone SE... And I can't (really, I just don't have enough tech fantasy) imagine a killer feature that will make me want to upgrade...

Waiting for USB C.

Personally don’t think we’ll see a finger print sensor in the same year as a periscope. That would be too many good improvements for one year.

Too much lipstick on this pig. Too fat, too big, too heavy and - too expensive. There is no value for that amount of money. Something like the Nothing phone would be awesome or if Apple would have taken the iP11 pro, added a new CPU and cellular. Instant buy. But I‘m not willing to pay ~$1.5K for a „pro“ phone and I‘m not willing to pay $1K for a non pro version that is inferior to my iP11 pro 🤷🏻‍♂️

So here we are. Maybe iP15/16/17? There is no need to upgrade now.

No, because the same thing was said last year and the year before that and the year before that and so on.

Everybody knows that you don’t upgrade Apple iPhones every year as the updates are very incremental. Better off updating every two to three years and you’ll notice the difference.

Under display Touch ID. This gets trotted out at every rumour cycle, touch ID on iPhones is dead. Face ID only.

I agree personally. I think the R&D costs and purpose (which has already been solved with FaceID) deem this feature unnecessary. It’s more of a tech list bullet point than any actually necessary feature, and it’s less secure. We have not had a fingerprint scanner in 4 years on the high end devices, why the need to revert?

So, I literally have had every iPhone iteration since the very first one in June of 2007. I always chuckle when people are like, "I'm waiting for the iPhone 16!", guess what? I am too :p

It's stupid to buy a new iPhone every time a new model comes out.

As the old adage goes "A fool and their money are soon parted."

Less secure is debatable. Having a sibling close by being able to unlock your device vs a random person somewhere across the world matching your fingerprint brings the question if the pure number of matches really matter as an actual security measurement.

We are all beta testing the next whatever. If someone wants to wait for iPhone 15, there will be an argument to wait for the 16… because… technology and progress is always happening. And what we use now is a beta test for the next version. Hardware or software. So get the 14 now if you want the best of what Apple can offer now. Or wait a year for the best they can make in a year.

Thanks for deeming people with the means to get new iPhones on a yearly basis as fools.

Perhaps you are the fool for not being able to do so?

Of course no-one is forced to upgrade every year, and give the strong resale value of older iPhones, any “fools” are not parting with anywhere near as much money as you, perhaps foolishly, imply.

It’s a good thing you have free will and choice and aren’t forced to upgrade every year.

A twin sibling yeah that is far more frequent for security issues than someone putting the phone to your finger while you sleep. Lol

Being a so called iphoneographer using the 11 Pro Max I’m holding my breath for another year because for me the periscope lenses with 5x optical zoom will be the real deal.
Apart from that I’m still comfortable with my phone and I’m thinking about a battery replacement (more than due after 3 years of solid usage)

The iPhone 15 Line up will be the best iPhone Apple will ever work on.

I hope Apple uses Titanium Chassis. Please make it happen, Apple. Make the Pro models more exclusive like the Apple Watch Ultra.
Exclusive = excluding, in this case.
But to some extent I’m all for fleecing the rich, the problem is Apples crippling of lower end models to push customers towards the more expensive tiers.

The USD is quite strong at the moment, which have led Apple to increase pricing locally in most parts of the world. I’m sure the bean counters will keep a close look at how this affects sales in other regions.

I’m upgrading from a 12PM not because there’s anything wrong with it, or because the 14PM is so compelling, but mainly I’m upgrading because one of my kids and my mother-in-law both want/need an upgrade and they’re good with getting hand me downs. I’m expecting I’ll keep the 14 for 2-3 years at a minimu, unless there is some kind of significant change in form or performance with the 16 or 17.

I ask this question because I don't know the answer, but what extra would a USB C connector give you over what is used now please?

Maybe the shareholders should vote to skip the current CEO and Product Design Team for for 2023 and find people with vision who can innovate and surprise - rather than recycle everything that has gone before and tag on a bit of current tech!

By the time Apple adopts USB-c the rest of the market will be on USB-E or something…

Am I the only one who would rather just have a small top bezel instead of this notch/pill sillinesses?

Which is crazy to me because the features this year are far more impactful than what was added in the 12 & 13 other than promotion. I mean cmon LiDAR?

Dynamic Island, AOD, Emergency Satellite SOS, Crash Detection, 48MP Camera, Action Mode, 4K Cinema Mode, autofocus on front facing camera, A16 4nm, Improved flash, improved brightness outdoors and an extra hour of battery life….

Diff’rent strokes for Diff’rent folks

You forgot, don’t have to deal with a SIM card anymore! Not only do you not have to, you won’t be able to!

Just the presentation of that put me off the iPhone 14. We all know how Apple is but come on, that was outright insulting.

I was highly considering the 14 Pro Max because I still have the 7+ which works just fine. I might wait another year. I know, it's crazy holding for that long but I'm glad I did. I truly believe you should hold on to your devices as long as you can if they address the needs you have. Otherwise.... waste IMO.
Isn’t the 7+ unsupported this year? It won’t have ios16, and won’t receive any more security updates.
So, while the phone may work perfectly fine, it won’t have current/future security protection.
