I had all them at some point but sold two and only kept the Sunflower. Sunflower is very warm and has a slight orangey hue. Spring and Marigold were quite similar, actually, with Spring a little lighter and Marigold with a (very) slight greenish hue.

Edit: found a picture from @athousandbands which shows Sunflower (top left) and Spring (below left). Also pictured but unobtainable in the real world: Hermès Lime (below right).

Oh wow! Good find! Thanks for doing the legwork. The Spring yellow is definitely “greenish”— especially when compared to the Hermès band. I assume the Gen 3 Marigold is much closer to the Sunflower up top. Hmmm. Decisions, decisions. hehe

No, Sunflower is unique, Marigold is closer to Spring.

Edit: or maybe my memory of Marigold isn‘t that clear anymore. In this video it looks like an inbetweener.

Thanks! I have seen this video. Not always representative of the true color, but I agree— I think Marigold is “deeper” than Spring Yellow, but perhaps not as “warm” or “saturated” as Sunflower.

That being said— does anyone have opinions on long term durability of Gen 3 vs Gen 4 CB? I only have just received mine, so don’t know how they “hold up” over time. I do realize they will all patina— but the Gen 3 leather feels a little thicker, or less supple, so thinking it might wear harder/last longer? If true, that might push me to Marigold over Spring Yellow.

Ahhhhhhhhh ok! Thought I was going crazy for a moment there. A black modern buckle with gold hardware would have been an insta-buy for my wife’s watch.
Not a combo I had considered before and I’m definitely retired from the fool’s game of trying to remove those shallow screws from the modern buckle but here’s a taste:

Fwiw that is Marigold Modern Buckle in my pic. It does seem to split the difference. Maybe they’ll recycle that name for a goo band in a few weeks. If my “Citron” suggestion is too hoity toity.

Ah— good to know. I assume Marigold was consistent from CB to MB… good comparison shot, then! I’m torn!!

I know it is all personal preference, but do you have a favorite between the three shades??

Do you have any comment on longevity/durability of Gen 3 vs Gen 4 CB?

I suppose since these bands will be in a regular rotation, my wear-and-tear should be a fraction of someone using one daily… so, perhaps it’s all a moot point.

The leather on the gen 3 classic buckles is definitely a little thicker than on the gen 4. Can’t say if that makes them more durable since I have never owned a G4 for any length of time. I don’t like the large square buckle on the gen 4 so I only have gen 3 bands in my collection (sad as I have had to pass on some nice colors like Cosmos Blue and Taupe). I don’t think you should worry about durability when making your choice, especially since you are rotating with other bands. Pick the color/style you like the best and go for it!

Sunflower is the undisputed champ, I thought I was getting Spring Yellow (unlabeled Mercari listing) and was pleasantly surprised when it was a warm drink of honey instead. Color probably won’t be 1:1. Modern leather is so different with that grainy vectran vibe and paper thin feel. Blue Jay is much superior on the CB over the MB.

I’m gonna go out on a limb and say there’s no difference in durability between the 3rd and 4th Gen leather but I also will never wear mine enough to really gauge it longitudinally. I have CBs of both iterations that other people wore a lot and the wear seems about the same. This fresh Blue Jay (3) does seem thicker than my 4s, as @MacDevil7334 is saying.

How does the Sunflower CB compare to the California Poppy leather link? I have the Cali Poppy but if the color is the same I may go for the Spring Yellow CB instead.

Nice, you still have the 1st gen. How many iPhones do you need to pair all your watches :p
Do you keep them at around 50% battery in storage?
I don’t leave battery on this but I’ve been busting it out recently for the pretty steel back and also for OG bands like black 1 silver pin and today’s link.

But yes I keep four of my watches turned off most of the time and low battery until I want to take one on a walk and then I get it ready. Hermes usually stays pretty topped up for sleep but I turn it off as soon as I wake up.
