Just got mine today and set it all up by hand rather than restoring from a backup (I prefer clean installs).
Yes, textbooks - that is the perfect format for these larger devices. Get these cheaper and students all over will be using them instead of lugging around textbooks. You can have the textbooks/research papers/PDFs (in tabs) on one side and your paper on the other. It would be heaven.Mine finally arrived from their factory in China yesterday!(I got it personalized)
This is EXACTLY what I needed. Such a tool!
here are some pictures
Surprised you got one of the smart keyboards. I managed to score a pencil yesterday ... but still no luck on the kb.

That's doesn't mean anything. What differentiates an Air or MacBook from a MacBook Pro? Other than a better processor Options and a better chance to get a bigger screen.
Pro is just an advanced upgrade model.
The MacBook Pro has an available retina display, quad-core processor, capacity for more RAM, more ports/expansion, dual/dedicated graphics, the capacity to drive more external displays and probably a couple other things I'm not remembering. There actually is quite a difference in the Air and 12" MacBook lineup vs. the Pro other than sizing options and the CPU, which is not an inconsequential spec.
As someone with a MacBook Pro with Retina, Surface Pro 3 and an iPad Pro, I think you of all people would understand this.
And what is the ipad pro to the Ipad air2 - basically the SAME THING YOU JUST SAID.
- More ram
- Better processor
- better dedicated graphics
- New input connectors and pen input
- Bigger Screen.
The Same. The only reason people are expecting it to be a professional because editors and marketing are feeding this delusion. I own a macbook pro with GPU and maxed ram....i must be professional then...
I think people seriously need to throw away the whole notion what is a professional device because if this was made for complete commercial use, it would cost a hell of alot more than just 800 and be alot more capable. Its a consistent naming structure and makes more sense than to call it Ipad Plus.
When the next Air comes out it will have more RAM, a better processor, better graphics performance, and probably support the pencil as most are saying, and there is a significant likelihood it will offer a smart keyboard. At which point until the Pro gets it's annual spec bump, the only real advantage will likely be the screen size, hence the plus. Most of what you mentioned isn't a lineup differentiation, it is a generation differentiation, one made more obvious because Apple did not update the specs on the iPad Air (and you can pretty much guess why).
You take yours work then?
I was using the stock notes app, but starting using notability halfway through my work tonight. I prefer writing in the stock notes app better, but like the organization that notability offers. I can have all accounting notes together, but on the apple notes app, everything is mixed together. And how is it working for you? For what you have to use it for? Just curious.
I dunno I expect the pencil will be just for the proWhen the next Air comes out it will have more RAM, a better processor, better graphics performance, and probably support the pencil as most are saying, and there is a significant likelihood it will offer a smart keyboard. I understand that paying for hardware does not a professional make. But I disagree that something must cost a lot more just because it is made for commercial use. It's a tad overused and a bit outdated, but I still like the term Prosumer.
However, I think the best thing we can do at this point is respectfully disagree.

I don't know how small you write, but it can handle my writing, which goes down to about half of college ruled. I haven't had to write any smaller as of yet.How do you like writing with the Pencil, is it as precise as they say? I will need to write in tiny numbers and notes on PDF files...

I need to check that out this weekend. It's been tough for me to try and figure out what features each note app has. School is coming to an end so papers are becoming due and exams are just around the corner. Notability has been the pretty easy to setup and get writing on. I made an accounting tab, then started writing. While I agree that Notes isn't as flexible as Notability, I did just discover that Notes (now?) supports folders. Just hit the back arrow and you will see them along with a New Folder button.
You take yours work then?
Nice wallpaper
Got lucky and found all the accessories in my local Apple store, already putting them to good use at work!
