I thought this would be a fun thread to see what some people have done!

Post pics of your DIY docks!:D
Here is mine.
Nice case. What is it called? Is it slippery or does it have a coating that provides a little grip? Thanks.

its one of those $5 ebay cases and its slick but not crazy bad... i really like it but just got a speck smartflex in so i don't have to carry a wallet all the time and im using it now

i've tried a dock with my very old legos. i have to clean them before my iphone arrives. because of that i can't test it. it may be a bit bulky because i have put this lead weight in it (black brick). i plan to remove those two noses on the lightning connector that snap into the bracket inside the iphone for smoother removal off the dock.

Loving all the Lego in this thread!!!

Just got my delivery from Lego to build the dock I designed.

  • Can both drop-in and remove phone from dock with 1 hand.
  • Requires a small rubber band be wrapped around the plastic of the lightning connector to keep it in place.
  • Works with both thin cases/bumpers as well as naked iPhone 5s.

Nice! I have to just put a finger on my to hold it down when unplugging but no biggie and had to mod the back (as seen in updated pictures earlier) to fit with my smart flex wallet case but it works great! I mean honestly who doesn't love Legos?! :D

Same here with the finger to push down on the dock while I pull the phone up, but it works!

I do like the Legos a lot though. That digital designer program they have is awesome. (Took Lego forever to ship my order though.)

I'll be working on a wooden dock over the weekend. I'm creating a passive speaker system that will have a lightning connector as the dock. I'm not necessarily a carpenter, so we'll see. I'll keep y'all updated!

Where did you design this? I love the look of it but I went online and couldn't find a designing area. I am sure it is probably right in front of my face but I thought I would ask. Thanks!!

Yeah make sure to post pictures when it's done! Can't wait to see it!

A real dock has line out audio.

Cool story

Here's my old 3G dock with a lightning adapter. Feels pretty sturdy as the base of the dock is wide and the adapter itself is quite strong.

They actually have it a bit hidden. It is an application you can download for your computer:
http://ldd.lego.com

It used to be better where you can just send the design to the shopping cart, but they took away that functionality.

It may be helpful to cross reference what bricks are available online in their shop while you build out your design.

Post pics along the way!
