On the Activision Blizzard deal? You don't want that to go through?I hope they are noisy. Let’s put the kibosh on that deal now.

One can side load apk on any androidOS based device. One does not have to use the PlayStore. It doesn't have a monopoly on app installs. Google Play store does App installs. This is the problem with making the market so narrow. Sony has a monopoly on Playstation game licensing.
You just can't comprehend how gullable or not smart with security people are. I have trained them....over and over and over and over and over again. What is the definition of insanity? So I got them an iPad instead.
simply allowing sideloading won’t change that but ok.I don't I still can't see why you want apple to make a phone like android. The reason the iPhone is good is because it has software that runs with it not runs it down.
No they don't. Every time I check though that have at least two downloaded exe files which as you know iPad can't open but they would definitely run them on Windows 10 if they still had it!Do they frequently erase and reset their iPads to factory settings? Because this is an easy to reach option, just few taps in Settings.
A toggle deep in the settings accessible to those that know the risks would be a good option.Nothing stopping Apple to open up the AppStore already, why wait and try to come across as a victim. Implement a toggle and message, that’s it.
A simpler computing device was probably the smartest move you made such as an iPad, but that has to do with the individual’s possible declining cognition abilities. Yes, I assist many seniors with technology and am well aware. I drill the basics over and over till it becomes a habit. You just can't comprehend how gullable or not smart with security people are. I think back on November 2021. Craig Federighi (SVP) said the same thing about Sideloading how it's going to open the floodgates to the Malware.
If Sideloading opens up. Can you imagine how easily cyber criminals will target the system? It will give them full access. Hoping for the win for Apple. Keep it closed.
I agree with what you’re saying, but I’m not understanding specifically, who is them and what have you trained them on?You just can't comprehend how gullable or not smart with security people are. ChromeOS has a similar option to side load apps through developer mode.A toggle deep in the settings accessible to those that know the risks would be a good option.
My grandparents. This was discussed many times already.I agree with what you’re saying, but I’m not understanding specifically, who is them and what have you trained them on?

Because it already happened on Android - and is not a worst case scenario?

Impostor 'Fortnite' Android Apps Are Already Spreading Malware
New analysis from mobile security firm Lookout shows that malware authors are taking full advantage of 'Fortnite' ditching the Google Play Store.www.wired.com
Yet you are fine with all the cameras and microphones on your iPhone, iPad, AppleWatch, AirPods, Alexa, etc being active all the time. iOS has security holes at present, don’t fool yourself into believing otherwise.I think we're fighting for the illusion of security and privacy. Right now many AppStore apps like Google apps and FB apps are a big threat to privacy. I for one doubt that disabling the camera or the microphone have any effect if these big tech giants presumably have found a top secret vulnerability that allows them to record audio, video or screen while those options are disabled in Settings. I truly hope I'm wrong on this one.
Apple wants us to think that our digital life is in good hands. Is it? The only way to know is to inspect and audit the code otherwise we're taking Apple's word for it.

Fine, if you want different sources here you go.Fake scare mongering from Lookout which sells redundant malware scanner. If getting it direct from Epic is too difficult then stick to an abacus.
What’s next? Forcing Apple to allow other OS versions on their hardware or iOS being allowed on non-Apple devices?
Elderly family member, this person has overstretched their goodwill service and is finding themselves in a sticky situation.I agree with what you’re saying, but I’m not understanding specifically, who is them and what have you trained them on?
You have approximately 60 posts in this thread, with 16 pages totaling of varied discussion, I didn’t read every post. No need to be so defensive. Try using a bit of decorum when replying. My grandparents. This was discussed many times already.

I am not defensive. Just don't want to repeat myself for the 10th time which also adds more to this thread when its not needed. You have approximately 60 posts in this thread, with 16 pages totaling of varied discussion, I didn’t read every post. 60 posts with 16 pages of totaling of varied discussion. How did you figured that out 😂 I don’t even know what to say to that 😵💫.You have approximately 60 posts in this thread, with 16 pages totaling of varied discussion, I didn’t read every post. Just want to be clear because I agree. I don't think it should go through. No, why would I?
Ironically, you keep rehashing most of the same arguments over and over again with other members regarding what you’ve ‘trained them on’ with your frustrations over the topic. It was just a simple question.Just don't want to repeat myself
No, steam is great at competing. And yes epic uses exclusive games to grow their user base, offer lower fees to make themselves more attractive to developers. This is smart business investment as their projections points to 30-50% market share of Pc gamers in 2024. And currently sit atIs Steam so bad at competing? Not really sure you are making the argument you think you are making. Epic NEEDS exclusivities to even be able to compete with Steam. And it will need to do the same on iOS.
The specific MR member has unrealized fears for their senior family members security and potential to be scammed if Apple were to permit side loading apps even if a toggle and message was implemented. You have approximately 60 posts in this thread, with 16 pages totaling of varied discussion, I didn’t read every post.
