This. If you are prepaid you have 1 choice at pre-orders. The t-mobile variant.

I am on Selectel, an MVNO that uses Verizon towers. In selecting the 6S on my iPad's Apple Store app, I was able to select "Verizon" and "paid in full." Would that not go through, or would I be expected to enter Verizon account information?

If it is like last year, and years before, it will ask for your carrier info on the next screen. You had to go to the store to buy it outright without an account.

Even now, try to buy an iPhone 6 online from verizon outright. It ask for you carrier info on the next screen. you have to go in store. Online only allows existing or new customers to buy. A pre-paid account even with verizon is not considered a customer, only post paid.

I see what you're saying about trying to by the 6 outright. This seems crazy.

I was under the impression last year that if you wanted to buy a phone outright, you had only the T-Mobile option for several months, and that version was primarily GSM.

I don't think anyone knows for sure. It's the same thing every year with a new iPhone, it seems. So much confusion, so much frustration.

For AT&T users who want an unlocked phone for overseas use, do we buy the full-price T-Mobile one? Will that be unlocked and be able to use band 30? Or do we buy the full-price AT&T model? But will that be unlocked out of the box?

Who knows? I've literally no idea which model to get...

If it's that critical to know for sure, then wait until the phones are actually released. Too many people seem to have the attitude that the world will end if they can't have one on launch day.

If you went in store they would let you buy just the phone. That is how I got my verizon one. It is crazy stupid you have to enter account info to buy a paid in full phone. T-mobile seems to be the only ones with a brain. I guess if you have att, sprint, etc you appreciate the fact that others cannot take all of your phones haha.

That may be what I have to do. With the nearest Apple store being a 45-minute drive, ordering is so much more convenient.

Yeah, plus you are going to need to que up on launch day. Before launch day they just point you to ordering online and cannot override it.

That means it's not going to happen for me, though there may not be much of a line in Greenville, SC. Oh, well. I was just trying to decide whether to get up before 3 a.m or not.

Interesting situation: If you go to the Apple Store app to set up a favorite (so purchasing is quicker when pre-orders start), when it asks you to choose your carrier, T-Mobile isn't an option.

I noticed that too. It should be just as quick if you know your way around. I have never had the app freeze or lag on me once it goes live.

Me either; and this all may be due to the fact that T-Mobile doesn't use contracts at all, while the situation with other carriers vary. Still, I would like to add it just to add it. Was really nice during the Apple Watch launch.

According to the PC Magazine previously linked (and it seems this was commented on above), it seems that if you don't get the version especially for ATT, then all the other carriers are the same. If so, the T-Mobile paid-in-full option would get you the same phone as choosing Verizon as the carrier, wouldn't it?

I did see that, but I still don't think anyone really knows this early on. And how important is that band? I would rather have the phone the other 3 carriers support even if I had ATT b.c resale value.

I agree. Previously, the Verizon version had the widest appeal when Verizon finally fully unlocked the phone so that it would accept either CDMA or GSM SIM cards. Maybe this is now the T-Mobile version that doesn't require an account with a specific carrier.

But... but... :)

Can you get the AT&T full-price model unlocked after 60 days if you're on AT&T? I can't remember if that's still a thing, and AT&T's site is pretty vague about such things...

Att full price should be already unlocked. If not I think you can process unlock day 1.

This is literally discussed to death every year. And every year it's the same answer.

Hello!

I just want to know if i preorder the IPhone 6 s plus And choose the full price the t-mobile, will it come unlocked?

I want to use it in Peru, And already check the bands, so my only concern is if it will be unlocked in order to use it in Peru.

I have called Apple to ask this And they have told me it will come locked even if i buy the t mobile full prince.

But reading this forum And as far as i knew Tmobile iPhones come unlocked... So i want to know for sure if its going to be unlocked or not And if the Apple people are giving me the correct info!

Thanks so much for your help!

Every year things change, and every year someone like you comes along and offers nothing helpful.

If you buy a phone at full price, regardless of carrier direct from Apple, it's unlocked. That's been the case for a few years. It's true. You can look it up and everything.

No, it's not true. I was reading these boards last year (and every year), and some people received unlocked AT&T iPhone 6 devices, and some people did not. I know T-Mo and Verizon were unlocked at full price (well.. T-Mobile from Apple, not from T-Mo themselves). But AT&T seemed like a bit of an anomaly.

In any case, I'll get the full-price AT&T model to guarantee band 30 LTE, and then get it unlocked by AT&T since I have an account in good standing.

Can someone "confirm" (as best as possible) that an AT&T iPhone 6s/6s Plus bought FULL price from Apple is unlocked? I know last year the T-Mobile full-price one was unlocked from Apple, and the Verizon full price, too, but this year at least I'm unsure about the AT&T model...

For all, their policy has changed. You will only receive an unlocked phone if you buy through the upgrade program and pick it up in the store.

All other 6s and 6s+ are locked.

In all cases you will be asked to identify a carrier when buying. Only the phones in the program will be unlocked even though you have selected a carrier even for those phones.

Phone requiring no carrier identification are not available and may not be for months.

See...you found the answer you needed. Now you know what to buy.

Not anymore. For now unlocked is reserved for the Apple upgrade program.

That's news.. Conflicting information being given out here. I'm not sure what you're saying is true..
