The game has some serious flaws that aren't being addressed. I would strongly recommend reading the subreddit before considering purchasing this game.

Origin does *NOT* allow refunds on digital purchases, buyer beware.

I have a witty reply for you, but the servers are full and I have to wait 14 hours to post it.

I was really really excited when I heard about this game. But now, with the DRM and all the issues I've read, and having to wait until June? I'll probably have lost all interest by then. Too bad...

No point in wasting any energy on this mess of a game.

Personally I'm happy Bioshock Infinite is coming to the mac around the same time this summer.

It seems people are really upset with this game. However, I just purchased it for $32 on the Gamefly website and redeemed the code on Origin.

Running great in VMware Fusion on my 15" rMBP. When the native Mac version is out I'm sure a lot of the bugs will be fixed. I seem to be enjoying it at the moment.

I'm happy they have decided to make the game OS agnostic i.e. I will be able to download the native mac version when it is available without extra cost.

People who bought SimCity are the most stupid on earth and deserved to be scammed.

At this point, people buying SimCity now are even more stupid and deserve to be ripped off way more.

It's a shame, I would love to play it but the always on feature is a deal breaker.

I don't think people are stupid if they buy it and most probably don't care about the always on. I do think EA ballsed up the release and underestimated the reaction some of their decisions would cause. But then again, EA has always been arrogant.

Is EA as bad I you guys make it out to be?? I've been waiting for a new SimCity for years now. Why is it so bad??

Aside from the server issues, they stripped out the complexity and creativity from the series. Plots are too small, RCI doesn't work right, budget doesn't matter since you can make tons of money via specialization, and the agent model has serious flaws.

Hmm okay. Well I haven't played SimCity since SC3000 which if I recall came out in the late 90's. I was just looking forward to playing a new version. So you can only build cities online? There's no offline option? And what does RCI mean?

At least we can get the mac version for free. It's not a horrible game once you get past the other crap.

It's worth a buy for $39, but definitely not for $59.

Many may not be excited for the Mac version to arrive after the PC debacle, but frankly, I just don't care. I will only be playing this game at home where my connection is fast and stable, so the log in and always-on thing isn't such a problem for me. Also, EA being such a crappy company...well, I hate Shell, ExxonMobil, 76Phillips, and BP, but we still need gasoline, and I hate AT&T and Verizon but we love our LTE and 3G. Some folks still love simulation games and EA makes some good ones, so they will deal. Also, considering I've spent virtually nothing on nothing (I don't own any console or PC games), getting SimCity won't be adding to a monetary-invested collection.

All in all, there are some willing to try it out and either love it or not.

EA = Epic ******s

The whole point of "boxed" software is you can play it offline.

I certainly won't be parting with any money until they change their policy.

Right, no offline option.
Residential-commercial-industrial zoning. They don't influence each other correctly. Right now you can make a residential city with no services and people will move in. Commercial doesn't need shipments from industrial--you dont really need industry at all. You can basically make any ratio of RCI and you're fine, which is silly.

SC3k and 4 are much better games.

Yeah but neither of those run on the Mac now. At least not natively. They were under OS 9 or earlier if I recall.

I'm confused: is it network play only, i.e. do you need a permanent internet connection to play? Because it's a great way to kill 12 hours on a plane.

Screw EA.

You need a permanent connection even for single player. That's one of the reasons people are upset.

Meh. Bought it and I think it is the biggest scam of the year. I will never ever purchase anything from EA again.

(In other news, EA was elected the worst company in America history for the second time in a row. They deserved it.)

Dude, I got to agree! I remember the day its been released, I was still thinking wether to buy it or not, anyway just one hour before closing time in local game shop I just jumped to the car and get into that store to buy the game. I had some good time however there was something missing, its just was not the same kind of excitement as in the good old SimCity and it went from 10 to 0 within couple of days. I feel so cheated.
Well, I'm really sure this was the last game I bought from EA. Even today, game is full of bugs, glitches...what a shame. :(

You don't have to pay twice -- this just landed in my inbox:

Still not thrilled about a two month wait -- it's coming out 3 months after PC users got it.

But, I can confirm it's in my Origin account, along with my PC Version. :)
