It won't even open on my Macbook Pro. Just bought it, the basic 15" Macbook Pro. I'm gonna try it on my iMac and hope it works, otherwise I'm out $50!

Alrighty, sorry for posting back a bit late :p

But Sims 3 runs well on my macbook. I'm with MrM as it does lag a bit, but it's nothing that I mind, all very tolerable. I'm still tweaking around with the settings to see which would give best results, but I can't help playing instead of worrying about messing with the settings :D

All in all, very fun game. Still trying to get the hang of it as the last Sims I played was the first one, which seems like decades ago.

But yes, very enjoyable on my whitebook.

Run very smooth on my 2008 Mac Pro, Leopard 10.5.7, 8800GT and 10GB RAM at 1900X1200 and maxed out settings.

Make sure you get the update and register the game to have the latest version.

Damn - I have a slightly older 2007 MacBook upgraded to 2GB RAM, but with the GMA 950 integrated graphics. :( Will it seriously not play at all then? I'm not much of a gamer but got into Pet Society on Facebook, so I figured I'd enjoy Sims.

I could do the iPhone version but I read it's less good for home decorating which is what I like about PS.

Has anyone ran the Sims 3 on the 2.4 GHz Unibody MacBook? I'm looking at getting this computer and would like to play the Sims 3

Hey, anyone else playing the game not have the ability to turn on shadows?
Everything else runs well, its just shadows dont exist, and on my PC side i installed it and the shadows are fine.

I hope it's not just like an openGL thing or something. I know shadows in World of Warcraft werent supported on Mac either, if that is indeed the issue.

Any of you running on one of the new iMac's? I've got the 24" 2.93GHz Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM, GeForce GT 120 256MB version.

Will it run well on that?

Works fine for me, see my post above. Make sure you have the latest updates though.

So I've got a G5 macpro. It plays my sims2 fine, except whenever I open it up, a dialogue box pops up and says my powerPC processor is not up to scratch. The powers that be say the sims 3 won't play on powerPC formats. so I'm really confused. my sims2 plays fine (bar crashing every so often.. not a huge problem) and will Sims 3 play on it?
I'm gonna be massively bummed if it doesn't

Sims 3 will not play on G5, they're incompatible, it isn't about power.

How about doing some research before asking the same question many others that fail to do research have already asked?

HERE ARE THE REQUIREMENTS, ONCE AGAIN;

* Mac OS X v10.5.7 or later
* Intel Core Duo processor
* 2GB of RAM
* 6.1GB of free hard-disk space minimum (with at least 1GB of additional space for custom content and saved games)
* 128MB of VRAM
* ATI X1600 or Nvidia 7300 GT or Intel Integrated GMA X3100
* DVD drive

Note: This game will not run on systems using PowerPC processors (G3/G4/G5) or the Intel GMA 950 class of integrated cards

Game is running adequately on my Blackbook, though sluggish at times, contributing to the overall problem of poor time management. I am not sure if it is because of my Macbook lagging in graphics or what, but my sims seem to take a long time to initiate actions. PLUS, the game is faulty in that the time speeds are dysfunctional, meaning the "super speed - 3" is really no faster than the normal speed.

Overall, though, a pleasant experience.

why wouldnt the sims 3 play on a brand new imac?

I can remember now, its not brand new its late 2006 but i think of it of new.

I think it wouldnt play it because of the video card, its playing the Sims 2 with nightlife, ofb, seasons and bon voyage but sometimes when im playing it lines come down the screen and after about 4-5 hours of playing the computer will restart.:(
