Well, from a personal standpoint, if I'm using a phone its up to my ear, or using the iPhone headphones. I've never liked Bluetooth headsets, as its one more thing to carry. That, and I rarely talk on the phone.

Galaxy Journal (Note on Verizon)

Sorry for the (mostly) unrelated post, but I have to get this out:

Why why why do Android and Win7 phones keep having different names for the different networks?? Whether it's being pushed by the manufacturers or the networks, why do they care? I've actually seen some being sold with lower specs on one network than another; I can only assume that one network is paying more to have and "exclusive" device. Why would any manufacturer be willing to hamstring their device on one network in preference to another??

As for the actual thread topic: I can see merits of a larger screen on my iPhone (especially since I have pretty large fingers), but only if it doesn't result in a significant increase in the overall size of the phone. When I want to do something that requires a truly large screen, I use my iPad. Any benefits from a larger iPhone screen (FOR ME) would simply be from reduced fat-fingering.

Plus, the phone would need to be physically larger, and may not fit in pockets, etc.

Are you ****ing kidding me? There have been plenty of reviews of a phone that is the size of the Galaxy Note or phones with 4.5'' screens that fit perfectly fine in their pockets!

The iPhone just feels like a little bitch phone now. I saw this who had the Galaxy S2, I swear I thought it was the Note at first. That's how big and awesome the phone is, and I bet the Note is even better.

Just look at some reviews on youtube of the Note or Galaxy S2 or Galaxy Nexus, they're great phones.

As far as the galaxy note goes: the 1980s called and they want their phone form-factor back.

Is this a ****in joke? The Note looks much better than the iPhone 4/S. The iPhone is the what looks dated. I don't even care about them.

When I look at reviews of Android devices, the last thing I want to see is it being compared to the iPhone, cause it's just not significant anymore.

why do people keep regurgitating this bs  , you seriously think a 4" iPhone won't fit in pockets? My GSII fit's perfect, actually a little better since it's slightly larger size doesn't allow it to get jammed sidewise like my iphone has before and it's 4.3", hell the Note even fits in a pocket though a tighter obviously and about the limit for a pocketable device.

The only way a 4" iPhone may not fit is if your one of those dudes wearing skin tight size 0 chick jeans like seems to be the fad now lol.

"Focus is about saying no." - Steve Jobs

Tired of this small screen, and the interface has been boring as hell lately.

Boring as hell but highly functional and focused is better than cluttered, garish and feature laden, IMHO.

It's Apple's focus and craftsmanship that draws me specifically to their products over the likes of Samsung, HTC, and Motorola. But that's me.

Not sure why people still think a 4" phone would be too big. Perhaps they are comparing 4.5"+ droids from yesteryear. The 3.5" iPhone sells like hotcakes because that's the only one that is out. The hardware is only half of it (or less for some). People like myself are willing to settle on the hardware for the sake of the software. Praying for a screen bump later this year. Don't want to be the black sheep in this household of iSheep :D

You know a kindle fire will fit in some pockets too right? I don't think he meant the literal ability to fit it in pockets, i think it was more about the willingness to feel something that big in your pocket. As someone that just came from the htc rezound, i agree. When you walk with something with that much bulk, you notice it and it's always in the back of your mind. With my iPhone, i don't even think about it. It's like telling people that a 17 inch laptop isn't that much bigger and "but you can still fit it in your backpack!". Well, yeah anything's possible. But it's not about if i can it's about if i want to.

I have no problem with the 3.5 inch screen, but in theory they could take away that useless home button and make the screen bigger while keeping the phone itself pocketable. This "it needs to be bigger!" attitude reminds me of every tv purchase i've ever made. 32 inches felt big at one time too. Then i got used to it. Then 42 felt big. Got used to it. Now i have a 46 and it seems small. Not that long ago people looked at the dell streak and thought the size was ridiculous, now people are begging for the galaxy note to come stateside and some that have used it have gotten so used to it they're saying the kindle fire is the perfect size.

I think we've gotten so bored with specs that we're focusing on other things to nitpick about. Cameras are getting to the point where we're content, most of the features we had on our wish lists have come and been updated, the stability and responsiveness is getting hard to nitpick about. What do we have to look forward to? Quad core processors and 4g. What about after that? We won't go to 5g. Cameras can only get so much better than they are now for small sensors.

Apple could do the same as they do with their MacBooks and have different sizes, but that would complicate things in the phone space. So they need to focus on one size fits all. What is perfect? 4inches is probably the sweet spot between too small and too big. But then again. That would be like apple admitting they were wrong about the perfect screen size being 3.5 when it's really something else. Will apple admit they were wrong and change? I feel like the stubbornness to change probably left with jobs, so there is a slight possibility we'll actually see a bigger screen. But if it doesn't come, i won't be surprised or disappointed

I really don't think they would stick with the 3.5" screen yet again, but if they did I would either stay depending on what they did add, or switch to Windows Phone.

Apples 2012 sales records with the 3.5 inch screen iPhone indicate otherwise...

Its easy to say that since they only sell one screen size. If Apple does sell the next iPhone with a increased screen size then I bet the outcome would be the same. So its pretty easy to assume a lot isn't it.

Another phone out that proves a 4" screen and compact is possible: LG Viper 4G. Identical dimensions (2mm taller) to a 3GS.

We don't know it will be 3.5 yet.

i don't know about you guys, but 3.5 is more then enough for me. i mean it's a phone, personaly i don't want it to be any bigger, it already barley fits into my pockets, why make it bigger? get an iPad lol

Wirelessly posted

I prefer iOS and apple but I do like the look of the Nokia lumia 900. I think for a lot of people the question is bigger phone or iPad.

I left after owning 3 iphones. And now have a Moto Razr MAXX and it imho is the best phone I have owned. The battery life blows the iphones I have had out of the water, it is speedy, the screen is nice, it's lighter than the iphone but a little bigger.

However, I do have to reboot it at least once every 2 weeks due to issues with the phone but I don't mind that as it's recommended anyways with any cell phone. I got tired of the small screen on the iphone, so for now, I am with android till Apple comes out with a bigger and better phone that is dramatically different than the current one.

LOL. Oh yes, every phone has to be rebooted several times a week just so it functions correctly! Who made that up? Google? I can guarantee you there are millions of iPhone users who have never once rebooted their phones and they run perfectly fine. I would have to reboot my Android phones sometimes just to rest my GPS location on Google maps  So you settled for a phone you need to reboot frequently to get it to work right or risk it crashing because you wanted a bigger screen? Wow, just wow.

I reboot my iPhone about that often when it gets whacky. You see people recommend that to users on here all the time, usually fixes them up. I see it on fb too.

Speaking of fb (terrible app on any OS) it's performance will degrade as its file size increases. Once it gets above 500 mb I just uninstall and reinstall. Rebooting helps but only for a short time, reinstall makes it last a couple months or so. I hope Apple introduces a way to clear an apps cache like other mobile OS's have.

Apple very well has the ability to increase the screen size and keep (if not nearly identical) dimensions of the phone. I would say if you could get a 4" (or 3.8-3.9") screen and the current phones dimensions didn't change you would like it just as much.

Now we don't know what the next iPhone is going to look like who knows you may not like the next phones look (very unlikely but possible).
