Right? :) Some people are still stuck on binary genders. Nature rarely deals in finite numbers like 2.

Serious. ;)

That said, the watch is indeed a conversation starter, so I wouldn't rule out the possibility of it helping strike up a conversation with someone of the gender you're attracted to.

Not really.

Many men need a 'conversation starter' in order to talk to women. At one point, I was so shy that I couldn't even small-talk about weather.

My brother never wore a watch - his 'conversation starter' was asking a girl what the time was. It didn't matter if she was wearing a watch or not, and he didn't care to know the time at all either. He just wanted to start talking.

I remember being shy and wearing t-shirts or doing things like paying with $2 bills - anything that would get someone ELSE to start a conversation with ME - as I was too scared to start one at all.

Now, I'm an extremely outgoing person, and marvel at how much has changed. I will start up random conversations with random people all the time. I'm married now, so 'picking up girls' is not what I'm looking for, but I can talk to anyone about anything now.

It's different though. Everyone has a pickup line they like. That's different to saying I will get an Apple Watch as a way for women to talk to me...

Not everyone has a 'favorite pickup line'. I never did. I think that's what I was trying to get at. Some people are too shy for that even. Their fear of rejection is too high.

For those people who are too shy to even say 'hi', they want someone ELSE to START the conversation, so they need to be different in some way so that someone ELSE would start the conversation. Ergo, they wear something unique that few people have right now, the Apple Watch.

Even though I was super shy, after the conversation was STARTED, I became open and able to talk, and many girls were so happy to talk to me as I was different - in that I was honest, open and didn't play any stupid 'games' like pick-up lines. So if I was 20-22 again, an Apple Watch might help me meet people.

I see. Interesting, never occurred to me like that.

I'm a chick, and I don't assume that everyone starting a conversation with me, about my Apple Watch or otherwise, wants to bang me. Sometimes, people talk to each other for reasons other than "picking someone up".

If they are guys, yes they want to bang you..... :)

Everyone has a pick up line? I've literally never seen anyone use a pick up line, nor do I know any girls dumb enough to want to talk to anyone that would attempt to use one. I thought this was a silly made up movie/tv thing.

none, I'm single and most likely will be ;( jk. really close to girls but i let one of them try it on

Do not discount this thread. It's a valid question.

In fact, yes the watch helped me last weekend on a Friday out in my college town. Here's a very brief summary: https://forums.macrumors.com/posts/21211160/

I'm 22 years old in case that matters.

You're at your prime age. At 22 years old if you need a tech watch to help get you girls then you may have bigger problems than even the watch can solve. :D

I'm not talking pick up line as in a literal pick up line. I mean a conversation starting topic.

I haven't worn my Apple Watch enough, but with my Moto 360, I have been asked about it by mostly women. So maybe you're on to something! My fiancee doesn't have one bit of interest in any of these smart watches though, hah.

22 definitely wasn't my prime. I started to get into my groove in my mid 20s. At 29 I'm able to get about any 20 something I want with little problem. Seems like a lot of women in this area are going for slightly older men more often than not. I got a 38mm ML so I'll let you know after tomorrow lol.

It would totally work on me. I literally don't know anyone else with an apple watch and want to play with all the watch to watch gimmicky things.

No but my wife is ready to leave me bc it's all I was talking about got the past 6 weeks lmao

Mine was ready to leave me when she saw the 1300+ bill. I told her one of them was for her and that bought me some time

Am I the only one who noticed the jacked up title to this thread?

I get my watch tomorrow and I better get laid because this damn thing cost 600 bucks. That's like 2-3 quality hookers!

I've only had one guy recognizing the Apple watch at a party. He just said to his friends "look, hes got an apple watch" but didn't even talk to me.

That was awesome. Seriously I can picture that whole situation in my head. Thanks!

So many things wrong with this post. Ok. Just kidding. There's absolutely nothing wrong with this post.

lol.

i suppose it could be a conversation starter for sure, so a girl might comment on it.
but i doubt many attractive girls will comment on an apple watch, unless it was gold.

in general, I don't think watches help one pick up girls, unless it's a yellow or rose gold Hublot/Rolex/etc.
an expensive watch that is relatively obscure, like a Audemars piguet or a Patek Philippe, will go unnoticed by most, unless the girl is very knowledgeable about watches.

Shocked that this hasn't been discussed. And no this isn't going to be your best troll reply. Or you saying you been with a 1000 women since receiving the watch. But seriously, how many of you have actually went out in public and used the watch as conversation starter?

I noticed myself that even wearing the smaller 38mm in public. Women do stop me to ask if I am wearing the "watch". You would be surprised how well this works in public. Of course they aren't going to be with you cause you are wearing it. Once they stop you, and start talking to you. The rest is up to you. It's not a miracle worker lol.

One - I used the iTranslate app to pull a lovely Brazilian lady :D
