Siri Coming to the Mac Menu Bar in OS X 10.12 Later This Year

Little torn on this - I really want to like SIRI but it is so hit or miss in functionality. Almost makes me think my 6S Plus is broken because it rarely does what it is asked (simple things like set an alarm). I do like how far the tech has come along, but I think it definitely has a very long way to go.
I've said it before and will say it again, Tim Cook needs to hire a SVP for cloud. Take iCloud, Siri and Maps away from Eddy Cue and let him focus on Apple's content businesses (and blowing up iTunes). Clearly he still has too much on his plate.
This will hide notification center from the menu bar:
launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchAgents/com.apple.notificationcenterui.plist
If you have a change of heart and just want it back:
launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchAgents/com.apple.notificationcenterui.plist

I agree with you, but I think that on the Mac it will be sort of a background option. You can call Siri and let it work while you are doing your stuff.
While you are scrolling a webpage, drawing, writing, etc... you can just say: "Siri, schedule an appointment for tomorrow at 5". Otherwise it would be useless...
"Hey Siri" on the Mac will be very useful for people who keep their computer in their living area to be accessed when doing non-computer things (the use case for Amazon Echo). I wonder, however, if "hey siri" will be voice-specific like it is in iOS. I can see a lot of "Dad, can you please ask Siri what the square route of 12,083.3 is?" if this is going to be the case.
I don't personally understand the excitement around Siri. Most people seem to prefer texting ACTUAL people - why would you want to talk to someone that isn't even real?

Two things need to improve for me to get excited: (iOS and OSX)
1) Better recognition for lower volumes and farther distances, like from across the kitchen or living room. Something equal to Amazon's Echo.
2) Speed. Siri is great until you have to wait 10-15 seconds for a response. I've started using Google's search app for iOS recently and its voice recognition and speed blows Siri out of the water.

Agreed. One of my biggest "beefs" with Apple is their cloud services. They really need help.

I love these non-related comments complaining about a function of Apple, OS X, iPhones, etc. Good job relating your complaint back to the subject of the post.
While Siri isn't perfect, it works pretty good for me. Wonder if it is something specific to your phone, voice, or a combination? Have you done a clean install of the OS and started from scratch?
Why remove Spotlight? It's awesome. I mean, it's a little redundant being there's a search function on finder windows, but at the same time it's faster than going into the finder windows. Now notifications center, I definitely agree. It'd be nice to remove that. I find it more useful on my iPad then on the Mac
Apple will probably use Handoff to coordinate between devices using the same Apple ID and determine which to activate on. Perhaps even use the strength (volume) data from each microphone to determine which is closer to you and activate that one. Not sure how this would work if you were sitting at your desk with your laptop and phone though. Perhaps a pre-selected preference when devices are near? Like if your Mac and iPhone are near each other, you can choose to have it default to your Mac since you're most likely working on it anyway
I never find myself talking to Cortana - that's not really my thing. But if you're using Windows 10, you're probably using Cortana all the time. If Siri replaces Spotlight, it might be a more valid comparison. But as it is, I think Siri and Cortana are pretty distinct in what they offer and how you use them.
