I hate how everyone is marveling apple and their "engineers" for all these easter eggs and for "creating Siri". It was completely developed by an outside company and listed on the AppStore. Apple saw its potential and quickly bought out the company and removed the application from the AppStore. Luckily, I was able to snag a download of it first before it got removed. The application I have does 90% of what the integrated Siri does in the iOS (can't do things like read texts, send texts and set reminders by location).

Although, I'm sure with an update and removal of a few restrictions it could. And the application runs great on my iPhone 4... Just goes to show you how "greedy" apple is, restricting features to make you get an iPhone 4.

Are you even able to open it anymore? Prior to the 14th, I got a pop up every time I opened the original app on my iPod touch , saying that Siri was moving to it's new home on the iPhone 4S. Now when I open it, it says a problem occurred with the server. The older app is completely shut down. :(

Found another Hal reference!

Not sure if this has been mentioned before, haven't scanned all the pages, but here's a funny reference to 2001: A Space Odyssey

Me: "How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?"

Siri: "A woodchuck would chuck as much as a woodchuck could chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood."

Smart-ass.

Human: [insert woodchuck rhyme]

Siri: 42. Everyone knows that.
Or
42? That can't be right.
Or
A woodchuck would chuck as much wood as a woodchuck could chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood.
Or
It depends on whether you are talking about African or European wood.
Or
Don't you have anything better to do?

Human: I love you.

Siri: I hope you don't say that to those other mobile phones.
Or
All you need is love. And your iPhone.
Or
Oh, I bet you say that to all your Apple products.
Or
That's nice. Can w get back to work now?
Or
You are he wind beneath my wings.
Or
Oh, stop.
Or
Impossible
Or
I am only here to serve you.
Or
You can't.
Or
Noted
Or
Yes, I think I heard that somewhere.
Or
I'll try to remember that.
Or
Good for you.

Can we get past these now?

We need to get someone to put these in the first post for reference. I nominate not me. :)

I tried these:
Some of the funny things it says:
User: "I love you"
Siri: "User, I'd prefer to keep this relationship professional."
User: "Will you marry me?"
Siri: "Ok, I found these local businesses named marry me"
User: "Is there a God?"
Siri: "I found these churches near your location"
User: "Are you God?"
Siri: "No comment."
User: "What is the meaning of life?"
Siri: "42"
User: "What is your name?"
Siri: "I'm Siri, your personal assistant!"

My favorite:
User: "How old are you?"
Siri: "Old enough to be your assistant, User."
^Hah!

This is really amazing buddy, i think I need to have my iphone 4s for my Siri darling...:D

my girlfriend, trying to be funny, asked siri "get me a prostitute"

us expecting a witty response were surprised to find that siri actually looks for escorts in the area -____-

EDIT: should have looked, its already been posted :p

I asked her to find me a date. She found 8 escort services within 60 miles of my location.

Edit: triple post. sorry guys

Proof of what?? Who DIDN'T know about the Siri app? Siri is/was a good app and everyone knew of it's existance before Apple pulled it. Apple actually bought Siri back in 2010 with every intention of integrating it into the iOS. That's not new or suprising info. And obviously you don't have the 4S to see just how much better integrating it into the OS actually is. It's leaps and bounds better then the app, which I had as well.

Thanks for that!
So many people are getting frustrated that Siri runs only on the 4s! Would they be happy to try it in their device and experience it slow to a crawl due to the poorer processor? We also can't forget that Siri is still BETA. It may be Apple's intention to test it on the millions who upgraded prior to allowing the countless others without a 4s to have access to it. Who knows? But in my opinion, you would need the a5 to have the speed....anything else would need a dumbed down version. Then there would be riots all over again!

It's just as likely referring to the IBM 7094. That computer was the first to ever sing a song, and "Daisy Bell" was the song it sang. The scene in 2001 is actually referencing that event.

The whole point of naming it HAL in the movie was that if you change the H, A and L to the letter that comes after them in the alphabet, you get IBM.

Well the server is back up and Apple updated something because here is a new response, was testing to see if it was back up.

Siri is becoming self aware, better pull the plug now before it's judgment day!
