I'll wait for the complete integration. Easy to do as I buy cars far less frequently than I upgrade phones.
Now add "iOS on the Harley" and we're talking!
"Siri, text Mom I'm driving"
"Ok, I'll text 'I'm diving'"
"No, driving"
"I didn't understand"
"I am driving"
"That is nice"
"Text that I am driving!"
"Ok. Text to who?"
"I just crashed my car. Call me an ambulance."
"Ok, from now on, I'll call you 'An Ambulance'"
That's pretty funny. Of course, if Google were to make a version of this it would be something like.
"Google, text Mom I'll pick her up in ten minutes."
"Ok, but before I do that you will need to listen to this ad for virtual driving lessons from our advertiser."
--Ad Plays Here--
"Google, have you sent that text message yet?"
"Not, yet. I noticed that you are driving toward an outlet store. I will send the text message after you listen to this ad for the outlet store coming up."
--Ad Plays Here--
"Google, have you sent that text message yet?!"
"Not yet. I am detecting that you are stressed out. I will send the text message after you listen to this ad about stress relief products from our advertiser."
--Ad Plays Here--
"I detected that you have now arrived at your mother's house. Sending the text now."
"Thanks for nothing @#%!@"
--Mother gets into car--
"I just got your text. The network must have been slow."
"Yeah... That's the problem."
"Google, how do I get to the nearest Chinese restaurant?"
"Drive 500ft forward and turn right on 35th street."
"Thank you."
"While we are driving, I reviewed your Google search history and thought that you might find this ad for hard core porn videos from our advertisers interesting."
This will all get very interesting in the next few years. There is no standard for In-Vehicle Infotainment systems. So far Toyota, Jaguar/Landover have decided to go with Tizen, a very customizable and open OS. And because of its openness more manufacturers are looking into this option.
Actually pretty comical and the future of Goog. How else do you think they can sell $350 Nexus'? I've pretty much gotten out of Googs claw so I don't have to switch later.lame and not funny at all
So I just bought a 2013 Honda Accord that's fully loaded and it doesn't have Siri Eye.
I wonder this will be something I can add in the future to the car?
Honda today announced that select Honda and Acura models including the 2013 -2014 Honda Accord
My car is a 98 and still going. Whenever it dies, I'm thinking I'll buy a used Honda, Acura or Subarudepending on how much money I've saved as I don't like to finance. So I'm crossing my fingers that my car will make it long enough to get one of these fancy iOS-integrated cars used and then I can drive it for at least 10 years.
My younger sister bought a new car recently with all the bells and whistles and it was like stepping into the future. But hey, my car gets the job done of getting me from point A to point B. And I've done my own upgrades as well, like installing new speakers and adding bluetooth. I'm thinking about getting a mount for my new rMini too. It's weird when I get into my car with my rMini and realize that it probably costs more than my car's current value, haha. I wonder if I could just build a mount into my dashboard for the rMini with a bluetooth Siri button attached to the wheel and that would accomplish nearly the same thing?
Was hoping to hold out for a Honda with Siri eyes. Been waiting patiently since they first announced last year that Honda was gonna be one of the first wave of cars to get it in 2014. I went to the dealer when the 14 CRV's started to arrive on the lot...And they did not have it. And the sales guy or manager had no idea what I was talking about...I mean NO IDEA. So I left and got the 2014 Ford Escape with Microsoft SYNC.
Probably a good idea. I was invited to be part of the Siri Eyes Free beta for my 2013 RDX. After several phone calls and trips to two different dealers, they could not get it to work. Keep in mind one of the dealers was two blocks from American Honda corporate headquarters. I gave up and the only correspondence I received was a questionnaire asking how I like Siri Eyes Free.
There are things I love about my RDX, the tech package is not one of them.
My wife bought a '13 RDX 3 weeks ago. Siri integration works fine. Navigation, music control, phone control work well. Haven't tried texting yet
There are things I love about my RDX, the tech package is not one of them.
I honestly wish more companies would get involved with this. Especially in California where you can get a ticket if the phone is sitting on your lap. Happened to my wife. Her Ford Sync doesn't do half the things this does.
how did the "damn pig" know that the phone was sitting on her lap?....man I guess I gotta stop putting the phone on my lab when I use the phone on speaker mode.
I wonder if it that dealer installed option is compatible with older systems. considering RDX and Accord are not exactly new either.
