I hope they make Siri work locally for common things as well.

As someone without a data plan, all I can say is…YES PLEASE. I thought that's what we bought our dual cores for :(

On the other hand, this might be why Siri has been missing from the iPads so far. Many people buy the WiFi version and it's so frustrating to leave your WiFi and suddenly lose functionality that is intuitively built in & local.

Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a feeling they are doing this to reduce the thought that the only improvement to the iPad 2 was the retina display. While in my opinion the screen on this iPad is insane, Siri would make it exceptional!

If this is true it will not make its way to the iPad 2. It just won't.

I was honestly kind of surprised to find that neither my iPad 2 or my sisters iPad 3 came with Siri. I was like "....Shouldn't it?" But then down the road I'm glad I didn't because I have so many friends that are going through protective case after protective case for there 4S's finding the right one that doesn't ALWAYS push the button and activate Siri....and they go and look at their phone and it's been running for like 2 hours and using up data/bandwidth.

I am not a Siri fan. I want more compatible printers with AirPrint, hopefully a printer that I already own. I'm not into buying a new printer just so I can print from an iPad.

9to5Mac reports that one of the major new features coming in iOS 6 is the addition of Siri to the iPad. Siri is currently supported only on the iPhone 4S, with the new iPad having gained the dictation aspect of Apple and Nuance's voice recognition partnership but not seeing the inclusion of full Siri support at its launch earlier this year.

The report speculates that Siri for iPad may be exclusive to the new third-generation models, and it is unclear whether Apple will tout the feature at next week's Worldwide Developers Conference or if it will elect to keep it under wraps until closer to the public launch of the software later this year.

Now if only they could get Siri to work properly in Canada on my Iphone...

If they do that it will be VERY slimy. ipad 2 and 3 have the exact same CPUs...

To add to the reason that Siri ought to be added to the iPad 2 is the stats that the new iPad's extra graphics power and enhancements really only bring retina quality graphics but no bump in performance.

So most of the under the hood upgrades were to make the visuals better, but in the end it's pretty similar power wise to the iPad 2.

Let's hope that Apple also allows ipad2 users to enjoy Siri as well.

It's not like the iPad 3 has a better microphone or processor anyway.

Does the iPad 2's A5 have the same noise canceling chip that is in the iPhone 4S' A5? It seems unlikely they would have A5 SoCs with different features since they shipped in the same year, but I haven't seen it explicitly confirmed either.

Shouldn't they focus on actually getting it to work in the first place? It's still a pointless feature for me in London/Belfast as Siri has no idea where I am or what is around me!

Belfast I can understand, we're about 10 years behind the game on everything there, but London.. really?!

I don't think I've used Siri for anything other than showing people who ask "oh can I try Siri" since I got my 4S during release week.

Make it work for EVERYONE then make it run on everything. Simple?

I hope this doesn't happen with current devices. Siri is the one exclusive thing we have to show people we own iPhone 4S and not one of the older models. Siri on the next iPad makes sense since we'll have other distinguishing features.

The CPU is irrelevant to Siri--the processing is done on Apple's servers. I'm guessing the new iPad has the new noise cancelling features of the 4S, and the iPad 2 does not.

Not when developers bump the resolution slightly and focus the quad core on pushing graphics. I'll always take iPad 2 resolution or slightly higher, upscaled, over native Retina display resolutions.

You must be heartbroken that I run Siri natively on my iPhone 4 thanks to Spire from Cydia.

And *shock horror* people don't know I "only" have a 4 when I use a case!

IF the accuracy isn't improved it will become an unused feature just like it is on the iPhone. Not much more than a novelty.

+1, will be turned off like Twitter and the expected Facebook integration. Still annoys me that when I share a photo I have a 'Twitter' option even though I have no Twitter account on the phone, at least on the phone you can turn off the hard-of-hearing Siri and you don't even have to deal with the icons, if they add that donkey to the iPad, I'd like to be able to not even see it.

I sure would appreciate the option of installing Siri to the phone (or iPad). I'd spend a gig to not have to use the internet for most tasks. My data service in Chicago sucks and having to wait 20 seconds to hear what time it is is extremely frustrating.

Seeing how a large component of it is server based, I don't see that ever happening.

*newsflash* nobody cares which iteration of mass produced chinese made gadget you have stuffed in your pants pocket.

i'd love Siri on my iPad!
i'd also like some new features on the lock screen like some of you here already said. and real multitasking, like 2 apps next to eachother, would be also REALLY nice! especially on the new iPad!:D
