iPad-Maxi??? Really? That has to be a joke. They might as well color them pink and put a string on them.

I have 2 iPads. An iPad 3 and an iPad mini. I carry the mini with me everyday, because it is very small, light and power. I don't even notice it in my backpack.

The iPad is great for using around the house and in bed. I don't think I could consider using a large one even under those conditions.

Maybe Apple will release something like this, but I suspect it will sell to less of a market then the 17" MBPs. Sure some want it, but more portable seems to be what the masses want.

I didn't know how much I wanted a smaller iPad until I had an iPad mini.

How come MR commissioned CiccareseDesign to create renderings of an iPad Maxi due to rumors and an article on Wall Street Journal, but doesn't do the same for an iPhone with a 4.3'' screen that the same Wall Street Journal did earlier an article about?

Why is there no rumors about that iPhone, besides the camera, when we are probably just a month to its announcement ??

Uh, nope

Not gonna happen. Not now, anyway. This would be a non-linear modification of the other screen resolutions, which would require a completely new method of making your apps. You could make a case that they already did this with the iPhone 5, but this required a much less drastic conversion, and one could always just letterbox it.

I, for one, would not mind seeing a 12.9" screen with the same resolution as the 9.7". Yes, it would display the same information, but user elements would be much more usable for things like art and medical. I'll bet they're using the Retina resolutions from the 9.7" on the 12.9". If they're testing it at all...

If they did this with a decent Wacom digitiser then I could see some use for it with new premium apps for content creation.

Instead of keeping the 4:3 aspect I imagine Apple would do as they did when going from 3.5" to 4.0" on the iPhone — switch to a "nearly 16:9" aspect ratio in the process. —Keep the width in pixels but make the length longer.

no no n ono n oNO nononNonOn0 no no no no. widescreen tablets are terrible, who wants to read a book or magazine in 16:9? Plus that would be such a headache for devs

As much as I want to make fun of this, my parents would absolutely love it. There's certainly a market for huge ass screens.

That said, I'll take my Retina iPad mini please, thanks.

Not sure what the point of these mockups are? Also they must not have used the rumored iPad display leak as a guide as these mockups have smaller side bezels than the new iPad will have. Honestly I don't see the point in a 13" iPad.

That would be the only device that I would buy on the release date.
As I a musician, the iPad 12.9 would be just great.

I just hope it happens!

If they did this, most likely it would run a hybrid OSX/iOS and I could see this actually docked with a laptop bottom, etc. A 12.9 would be just too big for 'consumption' but would be great for 'productivity'.

The biggest complaint we get from our iPad users that do any work on them is screen size. Perfect opportunity to turn this one into a OSX hybrid.

This would actually be a true work tablet while the 7" and 9" would be iOS only.

To be fair, nobody said an iPad HAS to be portable. Someone might like what is essentially a desktop/tablet hybrid - a desktop that can run iOS

iOS / OS X hybrid?

Would be neat if they made it similar to the Lenovo IdeaPad so it could be used as a tablet or a notebook! Imagine a device that would run iOS when used as a tablet but if you open it, OS X will be running already?

i like the next gen eyepadd the best a larger eyepadd mini, love the thin bezel, if the bezel was a little thinner on the top and bottom that would be heaven !

Having the iPad 3 I can tell you that after awhile of holding this bugger it starts to get a little heavy on the wrist, so the thought of holding a nearly 13" model for any length of time would be agony. Trying to hold such a large iPad with that bezel too, how can you do it easily  without your hand touching the screen?

OJ Simpson

Is this like OJ's book "If I did it"?

i.e. the pace of innovation at Apple is so slow that the rumour sites are now forced to pay for images of stupid products that Apple is NOT making and then analyze them anyway?

Here's a rumour for you to publish: "Rumour -- Apple is going to milk the brand that Steve built while slowly fading into obscurity with copycat and also-ran products. Nothing more than frosted glass and different shapes for iPod Nano (one will now come with a wristband) will come from them by the end of the 2010's."

You heard it here first folks.

I remember the pre-Steve Apple. It offered a strange alternative to the mainstream which was in some ways better and in others just...different. There was nothing special about OS 7 or the original Power architecture machines aside from their being ahead in the benchmark wars for awhile. And being incompatible with most of the

In some ways, I think that Apple is returning to it's former identity: not generally better, in some ways much worse, but generally just....different.

Sigh.

Hard to believe that I was a die-hard Apple lifer from 1999 until about two years ago, isn't it?
