You are comparing apples to giraffes. You don't make even a little bit of sense.

"Jobs ends with:
By the way, what have you done that's so great? Do you create anything, or just criticize others work and belittle their motivations?"

What a lame atitude from Steve Jobs.

He is acting every time more like Hugo Chavez, probably he is old and his brain is not working well.

Sorry guys, I know all of you adore Jobs, but you need to have criteria all the time and most of you just don't, probably you are a bunch of geeks/kids, who knows. But I know what a dictator looks like and sounds like and Steve Jobs is just crossing the line regarding Flash and the iPad issue.

Is not Jobs job to tell me what I can run or not in MY hardware if is available in the street.

That is like Hugo Chavez closing the radio and TV stations because they are not agreed with the Bolivarian Revolution. Just the same thing.

Be careful and all of you do not end up under a dictatorship one day.

i think a lot of people are too. but we should be given our own choice to decide what we want to do.

You have a choice NOT to buy an iPhone. If you don't like it or Apple's policies, don't but it. It's really silly for people to complain that you can't get porn on iPad or iPhone. You just can't buy it from the App store, just like you can't buy it at Target or Walmart. It's a store. The App Store is not the Internet — it's Apple's store, and they can sell or not sell whatever they want. There's plenty of porn on the internet that you can get in a web browser, or you can copy whatever images or video you want to it directly yourself, or you can stream your own porn using a number of video streaming apps. This shrill cry of censorship is just not accurate, and kind of pointless.

Every company that runs an online store like iTunes "censors" (if you want to get dramatic and weepy) their content to some degree. Every company acts to protect their platform's viability and position themselves in the market. At least Apple has a vision for what they want to achieve and delivers quality products.

No, just the analogy goes a bit over your head still, that's all.

Yeah. It's clear I'm not high enough.

How on earth is a company deciding what features to include in its non-monopoly product in any way analogous to dictatorship? How is a shopkeeper deciding what products to stock and sell analogous to dictatorship? How is a publisher deciding what material to publish analogous to dictatorship?

Steve Jobs said:

This could be said about many people on the web.

No, just the analogy goes a bit over your head still, that's all.

No. Your analogy was just poorly made. While you started to make the analogy between jobs and Chavez as one of dictator, you later made the direct statement that jobs is a dictator. He is the CEO of a publicly traded company, not a political leader. He cannot be a dictator. You on the other hand are as dumb as a rock. That is a simile.

When it comes to 'freedom' in the electronic realm, I'm much less worried about Apple and much more concerned about Facebook.

The school-boy email exchange is embarrassing. At least Steve Jobs doesn't feel the need to start swearing by his second email, but that's hardly bolstering.

Exactly. The list of companies that do not sell porn vastly outnumbers the number of companies that do. I guess that makes them all dictators, right?

The complete lack of rational thinking from some members of this forum defies description.

Who wants to bet Microsoft won't be selling porn in its Windows Phone 7 mobile store (which will also be locked down, like Apple's)?

I also searched RIM's BlackBerry App World for the keyword "porn." One result: an audio book detective story about a murdered porn film director. Which is not porn.

I also searched Palm's webOS app store for the keyword "porn." No results.

Where's the outrage, people? Where's the outrage?

Hypocrites.

Jobs is crossing a line...

He has the iPad, Flash is making the iPad (say Steve Jobs) running slow.

Now, Jobs do not want Adobe to run Flash into the iPad because of that. But there are a lot of applications that does not run well on a regular Mac, specially Apple applications, DVD Studio Pro is so buggi, a DVD burned in DVD Studio Pro will run in 1 out of 5 DVD players, as an example.

But is a decision of the USER to choose what software to run and to complain with the manufacturer of the software.

At the end the hardware is mine and I can run what ever application is out there in the market, that is MY decision, not Steve Jobs decision.

The facts are:

1. The iPad is out there, I paid for it and is mine.

2. I use Flash, is out there for sale.

3. A third party (Apple) do not want me to use Flash because it has buggs.

The only thing Apple can do is to release a warning about softwares that are not optimized for the platform, corporations do that all the time.

Imagine I buy a BMW and I install a different stereo equipment and now BMW will suit me for doing so. I mean, they can eliminate the warranty, but they cannot stop me from making modifications or using their product in the way I want.

Is the same with Hugo Chavez, Chavez do not like radio and TV stations complaining about his Revolution, and he is closing them. You have to do what I want because I say so. That is Steve Jobs speaking right now. What ever if he is right or not is not his call.

Steve Jobs can do what ever he wants with his employees, his employees can work there or not, but he cannot regulate a product I bough that is mine.

If that is the case and Flash is so defective... why Steve Jobs don't limit its use in OSX as well?

You see? Steve is doing something wrong there, is not his call to tell me what I have to run in my device.

Steve Jobs is sensorshiping my devices.

Why he does not prohibit the access to porn sites with Safari? they are bad, they have viruses, they are worse than Flash.

Capish?

i think a lot of people are too. but we should be given our own choice to decide what we want to do.

You do, you moron. Jobs just doesn't want to distribute porn through iTunes, which would obviously make Apple look very bad amongst parents and the core market of their products demographics. He's not stopping you from doing what you normally do on your PC, which is go on porn WEB SITES and view porn. Apple just will not distribute porn in their store, which is a pretty fair thing to do.

He is in no way shape or form stopping you from either

A) syncing porn videos onto your devices through iTunes
B) viewing porn websites on your device
C) buying a competing product

You people are so ignorant when it comes to this whole argument, it literally amazes me.

Guess what, you also can CHOOSE to jailbreak your device if you want to run unsigned apps.

My god, its not that hard. You annoying little snobs have become so obnoxious about your anti-Apple crusade. Just either jailbreak or buy something else, its not that difficult to understand.

The people who truly and honestly really would like to run unsigned apps are people who have already jailbroken their device and not made a big deal about it (me being one of them). The people who dedicate their time to arguing with people on forums about how they have a "right to choose" are just snobs who are being brats just for the sake of being brats.

Either jailbreak, or shut up.

"Not that big a deal

Why the hell did you buy it?

Also, good luck trying to run whatever software you want on a ps3 or xbox 360.

At the end the hardware is mine and I can run what ever application is out there in the market, that is MY decision, not Steve Jobs decision.

O RLY? See: Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii/DS, Sony PS3/PSP, Amazon Kindle, etc.

It is absolutely Apple's decision what they want to allow to be used on their products. Your decision is whether or not you want to buy those products. Period.

And now, a letter:

Dear MacRumors Ignorance Brigade,

Apple is not the first company that has sold a closed hardware/software platform and they will not be the last.

Sincerely,

The Rational Thinkers of MacRumors

Imagine I buy a BMW and I install a different stereo equipment...

Okay. I'm imagining you buying a stereo from the BMW Store to put in your BMW... guess what, they don't sell the PORN SUX2000 stereo all the other cool porn guys have in their Pornsches.

Damn. What can you do? Go on the BMW forums and compare their CEO to a Venezuelan.

Imagine I buy a BMW and I install a different stereo equipment and now BMW will suit me for doing so. I mean, they can eliminate the warranty, but they cannot stop me from making modifications or using their product in the way I want.

You can do this. It is called jail breaking your iPhone. Apple can not stop you from doing it. But as you stated in the BMW example, I believe it might eliminate the warranty. So go for it. Then go and write some killer porn apps for people to use. You'll be a hero.

Ryan Tate is such a dumbass

He comes off looking bad and he posts it on the interwebs?

Something's not quite right in that brain of his.

I guess Sony is also a dictatorship according to the brilliant logic of this guy. I just searched the playstation store and I couldn't find any porn. They clearly have a video section. They could distribute porn, but I guess they'd rather trample upon my freedom.
