Jobs is crossing a line...
He has the iPad, Flash is making the iPad (say Steve Jobs) running slow.
Actually, he didn't say flash makes the iPad run slow.
Now, Jobs do not want Adobe to run Flash into the iPad because of that.
You need to go read his open letter on Flash. That's not what he said.
But there are a lot of applications that does not run well on a regular Mac, specially Apple applications, DVD Studio Pro is so buggi, a DVD burned in DVD Studio Pro will run in 1 out of 5 DVD players, as an example.
So? You fail one exam so you might as well fail all of your exams? Your fender has a dent, so you might as well total your car?
But is a decision of the USER to choose what software to run and to complain with the manufacturer of the software.
So Microsoft should let me run PS3 software on an xbox?
At the end the hardware is mine and I can run what ever application is out there in the market, that is MY decision, not Steve Jobs decision.
That does not mean he has to SELL IT TO YOU. The fact that I want an ice cream sunday does not mean that a restaurant is run by a dictator if sundays are not on the menu.
The facts are:
1. The iPad is out there, I paid for it and is mine.
2. I use Flash, is out there for sale.
Flash is not for sale for iPad. It doesn't exist.
3. A third party (Apple) do not want me to use Flash because it has buggs.
Apple is not a "third party." (Who do you think the first and second parties are?) And I thought you said he does not want you to use Flash because it is slow? Which is it?
The only thing Apple can do is to release a warning about softwares that are not optimized for the platform, corporations do that all the time.
Actually that is not the only thing they can do. They can refuse to sell you software that runs flash, and software compiled from flash. Which is what they do.
Imagine I buy a BMW and I install a different stereo equipment and now BMW will suit me for doing so. I mean, they can eliminate the warranty, but they cannot stop me from making modifications or using their product in the way I want.
First of all, that would not make the CEO of BMW a dictator. Second, what you suggest is exactly what Apple does. They do not sue you for running flash. If you and Adobe want to figure out a way to run flash on your device, you can. Apple just won't help you do it. Probably you need to jailbreak your phone. And that doesn't even void your warranty.
Is the same with Hugo Chavez, Chavez do not like radio and TV stations complaining about his Revolution, and he is closing them. You have to do what I want because I say so. That is Steve Jobs speaking right now. What ever if he is right or not is not his call.
Here's where you are making less than zero sense. Apple is not telling you what to do. Go jailbreak your phone and run whatever you want. All he is doing is refusing to sell you flash. YOU are being Hugo Chavez. You are insisting that a capitalist has to bend his will to your socialist leanings. "The people want flash, so Steve Jobs must sell it to us!" The dictator is YOU.
Steve Jobs can do what ever he wants with his employees, his employees can work there or not, but he cannot regulate a product I bough that is mine.
Actually not true (you agree to a license agreement on the software). But the point is moot. He is NOT telling you you cannot run flash. He is simply refusing to help you do it.
If that is the case and Flash is so defective... why Steve Jobs don't limit its use in OSX as well?
Because this is a new generation of device that is supposed to work like an appliance and not require knowledge of activity monitors, reboots, etc. to work.
You see? Steve is doing something wrong there, is not his call to tell me what I have to run in my device.
And he is not.
Steve Jobs is sensorshiping my devices.
Please tell me English is not your first language?
Why he does not prohibit the access to porn sites with Safari? they are bad, they have viruses, they are worse than Flash.
They do not have viruses that effect any apple devices.
That's not a word in any language.
