I wouldn’t be surprised if Touch ID migrates to the power button to bring it online with the other iPads; however I wouldn’t expect it to get horizontal FaceTime until the Pro and Air get it.

Can’t imagine the landscape camera would come to the base before the Pros, but I’ve been wrong twice today already away from MR, so…

Landscape camera would be the only reason to upgrade over last years. M2 won’t be worth it.
Same - The iPad Pro should come with both portrait and landscape front facing cameras. Video conferencing in landscape mode with the camera way to the left or right is awful.

Just fix the jelly scrolling on iPad Mini. This is what we care about.

I love my iPad Mini 6!! But tbh I have not noticed the so called jelly scrolling thing. Is it reading at portrait or landscape?

On second thought....maybe don't tell me. Maybe I haven't noticed it because I wasn't actively looking for the problem. lol

I'm not even going to say anything, LOL.

This would unify the line. By making the width of all 4 bezels the size of the current 10.2 inch side bezels, the dimensions would likely be 10.5 inches. Having an A14, no lamination, lower quality (though improved) camera, slightly smaller display, and basic speakers, would differentiate it enough from the M1 iPad Air. We may see a price increase to $349, but it would be worth it. They would sell these as fast as they could make them.

I try to save money by purchasing Android only to receive poor customer service or lack of support or both.
While I don't use my front camera much, if I did, makes sense to make it landscape.
My Nokia tablet has facial recognition, but it doesn't really work.
I love touch ID and it is fine to put it in the power button. My Nokia and iPad don't have covers, so I have to wake them with a touch of the button.
Hope to get a couple more years from my 2019 iPad.
Maybe then a 9 inch iPad Mini, then the iPad Air and Pro versions.
And PLEASE 128 or 256 GB storage!
ePad ($299) for education.
iPad Air and Air Pro.

So in terms of reliability it goes

- Sketchy
- Shady
- Flakey
- Hinky

Right?
In terms of reliability, we have no reliability

Why even report on it if it’s “sketchy”?
because the piece of **** that is Mac otakara, a site which after the disaster last year of them telling other leakers who have a much much much much higher accuracy of leaks than them of the redesigned iPad Mini ( they thought the mini 6 was supposed to have the classic design but look like the front end of the 10.5 inch iPad Pro) it is macrumors way of reminding people of how bad and stupid Mac otakara are

And mac otakara in this case proved it. Yes we see the same power button which can look like it could come with touchID like Air/Mini but we see the home button which is the same thing too

But which area is cheaper to put touchID in. The home button is the obvious answer

🤦‍♂️

Apple's next lower-cost iPad could feature a Touch ID power button and a repositioned FaceTime camera, according to Japanese blog Mac Otakara. The report cites multiple Chinese sources who claim that alleged renders of the 10th-generation iPad shared earlier this month do not accurately depict the position of Touch ID or the front-facing FaceTime camera on the device.
Plausible IMHO. They did that for the revised iPad mini 6th generation. Would be a good replacement.

I would imagine the design language of the new iPad will follow the iPad Air and Pros. The flat sides allow the Apple Pencil 2 to be used and charged and if the rumor that the iPad will switch to USB-C is true, the original Apple pencil will no longer be supported as it requires lightning to charge and pair. If it moves to flat sides, then the touch-ID power button can share the same part number as the iPad Air.

I don't know...
To be honest having an ipad still with the home button would be very outdated.

When the 2021 model was announced I really felt it was going to be the last iPad with a touch ID.

It's even worse with the Iphone SE.
Ok the not stellar resolution, ok the less premium feeling, ok the normal LCD display, but I expected at least to see a uniform design.
Given how apple favours consistency in their lineup, I think it's sloppy to have quite a few items for sale with the old design phylosophy.
I really hope they will at least ditch the Apple Watch series 3 this year.

Headphone jack?

I use my 5th-gen iPad as a music player for events. Someday I will have to replace it.

It will suck having to use a dongle for such a simple task.
Bluetooth? I can’t even fathom plugging an iPad in. Just get a cheapo Bluetooth or even airplay device and plug it into whatever old stereo that doesn’t have those things native.

This really felt like the perfect year for apple to ditch the meaningless “air” moniker…. Coulda just had a new MacBook and a MacBook Pro and now a new iPad and iPad Pro… with different spec levels in each… it just makes so much more sense…

Live events. Big venues. Sound boards. That's what I'm plugging into.

I love my AirPods... and I use Bluetooth in my car.

But I prefer to be hardwired in a church or large venue.

Just a personal thing. I know iPads won't have a headphone jack... I just like to vent online. Let me.

:)
