Regarding the red iPhone. If Apple was serious about raising money for this charity why don't they offer that color right from the start when sales would be most popular? Offering it only as a mid-cycle option feels like Apple is using the charity for their own benefit to jump-start sales during a normally sagging time.

I don't understand why Apple is so afraid of the color blue. I want.

Agreed.

They are probably too afraid they will misjudge demand.

Or that it will sell more than black or white and ruin their colors of “simplicity”.

I'm fairly sure you mean "precedent," which means "an earlier event that serves as an example or a guide" and not "precedence," a totally different word which means "priority in importance."

(Apologies: I wouldn't normally play the grammar snoot but I sat idly by and watched while the difference between complement and compliment was so thoroughly mangled or abandoned that these days the wrong word is chosen far more often than not.)

Yup. You beat me to it. Rest assured, you are not the only person who still cares about grammar and usage. Among my pet peeves and also the object of frequent abuse here is the use of "secretive" where the correct word would be "secret."

iPhone X is too big, too heavy, and the camera lens bulges out too much.

Also needs an easier gesture to access the settings panel. It's so annoying having it at the top of the screen, where it can't be reached one-handed.

Uhm, they'd already tried out their luck with the Graphite iPhone 5, turned out to be a bad idea due to a lot of quality control issues during the production process.

who cares about that? Did you see the video with new iPhone SE 2? Hope it is real!!

At this point, I don’t believe there will be an iPhone SE 2. There are a lot of renderings and fan made art videos that are not legitimate. And there is no reason for Apple to launch an SE at an educational event, which only leaves WWDC 2018 and the fall keynote. I think Apple keep the SE in their lineup for another year currently and not update it.

Apple is still planning to release the iPhone X in a so-called Blush Gold color, according to well-known leaker Ben Geskin.

Geskin tweeted a photo of an iPhone X and an accompanying SIM card tray in the new color earlier today. He said the device is "in production," with a codename of D21A. In a follow-up tweet, he added that the "color is real" and said Apple just "saved it for later," but hedged that "stuff can be canceled."

Geskin has gained a reputation for leaking dummy models, screen protectors, and accessories related to unreleased iPhones, but he doesn't have a perfect track record. Back in July, he said the iPhone X would be available in four colors, including a "mirror-like" finish that has yet to materialize.

In the months leading up to the iPhone X, it was widely rumored that the device would be available in a trio of colors, including Blush Gold, but Silver and Space Gray ended up being and remain the only colors available.

In September, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said the gold model may encounter some production issues and be available in extremely low volume during pre-orders, which didn't happen, or go on sale at a later date entirely. Since then, rumors have largely gone quiet, beyond a few false release dates.

A year ago this week, Apple unveiled a special (PRODUCT)RED edition of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, so there is some precedence for a new color to be added midway during the product cycle. The white iPhone 4 was also delayed until April 2011, over nine months after the black version launched, due to a lack of UV protection.

Apple may release a (PRODUCT)RED edition of the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X as well, according to Rosenblatt Securities analyst Jun Zhang, and that might be the more likely addition than Blush Gold.

Apple recently announced it will be hosting an education-themed event on Tuesday, March 27 at Lane Tech College Prep High School in Chicago. While the event will be focused on "creative new ideas for teachers and students," it's certainly possible we could learn of the new iPhone X colors then.

Sales aren’t sagging, that narrative has been thoroughly debunked. On the call Cook said X was their best selling iphone since launch. Seasonally reducing supply after the holidays is normal.

Really? Why? A fully loaded iPad with cellular has cost more than that, as do almost all Macs. No special expectations there, despite a minaturuized computer in the phone form factor being harder to manufacture.

Yes, I think people forget just HOW much advanced technology is packed into our phones. I personally find it amazing that our devices work as well as they do. It truly is a testament to the hard work of engineers at many levels.

That said, I'm equally amazed that Chinese knockoff companies can churn out super-cheap imitation devices that fool consumers. There's no way they are investing that much into engineering. They are quickly slapping together components, so it's truly amazing that those devices work at all. And their workers must be working for pennies.

is that photo of blush gold in the wild (on a patio?) a mockup or the real thing you think?

looks pretty Nice

The notch is an intrusion, an unrefined implementation of a plan B and a costly design choice. Hence sources saying it's going smaller this year & be gone the next. So Apple must think it's an issue.

Also it makes sure everyone and their grandma spots the latest iPhone in the wild. Why do you think the AirPods are as ugly as they are? Brand recognition.
