Is it so hard to believe they keep the headphone jack? Doesn't the SE lack waterproofing and the haptic feedback module for 3D touch which it also doesn't have and the solid state touch ID?

I thought these were the reasons the jack was removed in the first place.

Looks pretty legit IMO

The floppy and CD were already on their way out, with better alternatives across the board.

With the audio jack, Apple has jumped the shark.
Bluetooth headphones are a better alternative. Once you've used them, you don't want to go back. And for the vast majority of iPhone users, the included Lightning earbuds combined with the included adaptor represent an almost fully equivalent alternative.

They're not "better" just because they're shoved down our throats.

I've used them and I still want to go back. Sound quality is not there yet, and I don't want another accessory that needs charging.

Apple is only putting design and engineering effort into the iPhone X and iPad Pro. So this SE2 rumor make more sense. Apple doesn't have to to do much extra design work, and also a single piece glass back in cheaper that using three pieces.

Don’t get me wrong I love my 10 and I actually say TEN and not EX! But the SE is a very capable phone. I still own 4 of them as back up.

I look forward to a "sketchy" video that shows Siri being worth a damn.
Bad form buddy. If you don’t like Siri...don’t use her!

You’ll be surprised how many SE’s Apple sells in a month just because of the smaller size and the headphone jack. It’s crazy. You can get a brand new SE from a lot of prepaid carriers for under One Hundred Bucks!!

They have "Designed in California" and "Assembled in China" plus two 'regulatory' symbols on the back (CE + crossed-out trashcan).

I don't see that on mine...?

Are people still griping about the headphone jack missing? Come on people move on!!! Are these sample people complaining that you can’t get CDs anymore? Times change move the $&@! On.

Removing the headphone jack is not forward thinking, at least in the way Apple did it. Replacing lightning with USB-C would have been forward thinking.

The current approach makes no sense. Lightning headphones don't work on Macs, you can't use word headphones that do work with Macs with iOS devices without an adaptor. 'Courage' would have been to ditch the propriety lightning jack and use an industry standard connection (USB-C) to create a new standard headphone port. Painful yes, but for the greater good - Apple fanboys support pain when Apple says it is 'right'.

The D/A converter in the adaptor is really so much worse than the D/A converter in previous iPhones? And headphone jacks are pretty tight, plugging the adaptor onto the end of their headphone cable should keep it pretty secure and hard to loose.

I'm one who has griped plenty about the loss of the headphone jack (but I still finally upgraded last year from my 6S Plus to an 8 Plus, notwithstanding), but even so, I'm puzzled by the claims that the DAC in the dongle is worse than the DAC in the older iPhone models (like the 6S Plus). Maybe my ears aren't golden, but I think the DAC sounds almost identical in the dongle vs my old 6S Plus.

Re: keeping the adaptor permanently attached to the headphones, ironically, that's the least useful idea for my use of the headphone jack, which already with the 6S Plus was exceptional rather than typical -- I've used Bluetooth headphones with my iPhones for several years 85% of the time. It's just that the other 15% of the time I've used a headphone jack on an iPhone, it's to accommodate scenarios in which I am NOT using a single pair of headphones to which I could merely permanently have a dongle attached -- it's plugging into a friend's car AUX port or my mom's old stereo (no Bluetooth!) via AUX, or testing out some wired headphones at a store display, or using one of my own several pairs of wired headphones.

Although if this is meant to appeal to cost conscious consumers, wouldn't it be counter-productive to force them into buying a BT headset?

They will not be forced, the lightning adapter for the regular ear/headphones is still there from iPhone 7 upwards.

That's market specific.
EU devices still have it.

I think the point is that since US market 2017 iPhone models 8, 8 Plus, X, don't have it, it's possible that an updated SE wouldn't either, that's all. :). Notwithstanding, I am still a skeptic on this video actually depicting a new SE.

You seem out of touch. CD sales now exceed download sales ... downloads have gone out of fashion, and streaming is in. And since when can't you get CDs anymore? Just ordered a fantastic selection of hi-res SACDs (not something for the noobie low-res market).

You do realize the 8s and X don't have regulatory writing on them, don't you? The only thing on the back of my former 8 Plus and my current X is "iPhone." That's it.
Not in every country. We still have that on our iPhone 8.

Why is Apple dragging their feet on design? There is no excuse for the next iPhone SE to be rocking the same ancient design as the iPhone 5.

Bring the edge to edge larger screen in a smaller form.

Because Cook is clueless and Ive is bored (or ran out of Dieter Rams designs to copy).
