Despite everyone poking fun at Apple's slow trickle of development, I'm actually quite interested in this. My white 3GS was always my favourite most "Apple-like" phone.

Also I'm sure with the Jobs family having a seat on the Disney Board, they can get it named 'Snow White'

Sorry to be picky, but I'm really surprised that so many native English speakers insist in calling this "jet white". "Jet" here has not the same meaning as in, for example, "jet plane": jet is the name of a black stone (sort of: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jet_(lignite) ). So "jet black" here means "a black similar to the black of the material known as jet". There is no "jet white", such as there is no "sky orange", nor any "strawberry blue". It's totally silly.
Stop saying it, please.

It was to be named "Shiny White" until someone pointed out the combination of these two two words would perhaps accurately reflect the amount of actual innovation it's had in the last two years other than a colour change.

It bother anybody else that people call this "jet" white? Should just be called white. Jet doesn't fit into white color naming at all

They'll call it Jet White so they can match the pricing premium price point of the Jet Black, cause it's only available from 128GB. Poor people aren't allowed nicer finishes.

Not really for me. never been kind on white phones but would go nicely with air pods i guess

they can do this without naming it JET white
A new year.... a new color. Everyone will know what the new color is but the naming doesn't need to be the same.
don't think your jet black phone is anymore special than the other colors. They are the SAME price. (just one only comes in bigger storage prices).

Remember when Apple used to sell shiny black and shiny white iPhones and not charge extra?

Tim: So, we put 250 billion and 12.000 man-years into iPhone R&D recently.
Can I ask what came out of that ?
Joni: Well, euhhh...
Phil: Mumwwwhh...
Greg: Mmmmh...
Eddy: Zsssprwwwuuuhh.... (sorry, bad coverage here in Hollywood)
Angela: Dunno but found something in my beauty case... this floss box saved our Airpod project (and a few asses probably...)
Why not just recycle this original Chinese porce...lastic into the next iPhone ?
Phil: Wauw - Great Idea. Our customers will LOVE it !
Let's call it plain whi.. ehhh... Plane white !
Joni: Time-to-market will be incredible !
This has soo many advantages over ceramics ! Few to none rejects ! Ramp-up will go vertical !
Tim: Yields will be spectacular ! Oohh .... I'm getting so excited ... oahh .... Nothing will stay the same ....
All: No, except everything...

Samsung has done that color and tons more. Apple is way behind in this kind of superficial crap (behind in technology as well, btw). Once you realize that Apple isn't the only company that makes cool phones these days, you won't be so surprised when you see a competitor that has something that apple has copied.

I wasn't commenting on it's cool factor or praising "superficial crap". Personally I could care less about the color of a phone. There is nothing cool about phones. Of course other folks make good phones. However, you do realize that Samsung recently introduced "Black Pearl" in response to Apple's Jet Black (which was in high demand). Samsung's aping of Apple has been prevalent since day one.

Lighten up Francis. My post was a harmless poke at Samsung's Apple envy.

Oh a matte white would be lovely

Ceramic white would be cool - but fragile for butterfinger types.

"Introducing the new iPhone 7s Pro - Just $1399. The whitest iPhone since iPhone... 4"

ceramics is nearly three times that of stainless steel. So I don't see why it would break...

It would look great but would be extremely prone to shattering.

It wouldn't be the same sort of ceramic that your plates and mugs are made of, ceramics can be incredibly tough - in Apple's case zirconia-based ceramics. There is a ceramic SKU for the Apple Watch, heck here's a ceramic hammer: http://www.hammermuseum.org/hammer-highlight-coors-ceramic-hammer

There are military and aerospace ceramics as well.

I'm not saying ceramics definitely will be used for the next iPhone, or that they're the best choice, but don't rule them out because you dropped a ceramic plate once. ;)

Anyone else get cringe when they hear "Jet" white?

The term Jet Black comes from automotive color selection. Usually the counter part (white) is called Alpine White or something rlse.

Omg, thank god someone posted this! I can finally rest knowing what a white iPhone may look like!

If this is the what we have to look forward too, I simply can't wait... no hang on, I can as I'm not simple!

Don't like the white color...
Apple work hard on that iPhone8 and gives us some innovation c'mon...
