The Air sounds horrid.

No spatial videos? 1 camera? No, just no
Think of the (maybe) one friend or family member who will miss out on your spatial content when they decide to dust off their headset for the first time in 6 months lmao. They need a better story for consumption of spatial photos and video, I actually wonder if there will be a display that somehow supports it that is far along in R&D that just hasn’t been leaked yet. Maybe the dual-plane OLED could offset pixels to create the effect at certain viewing angles and it would be switchable… would be a cool and semi-plausible feature.

I can’t imagine they’d still be investing so heavily in this considering Vision Pro is the only device to see them, even if a new revision is mildly successful unlike the current one it will never, ever be mass-market. The glasses are easily the better part of a decade out if they can even happen.

Spatial audio is another story. The mic array is actually the only thing that makes me want to upgrade this year, except a heatsink and I’m not spending a thousand dollars for that.

iPhone Air is just a codename or garbled rumour meant to be the next iPhone SE.

The iPhone 14, 15, 16 (and by then, 17) will have so few hardware features differentiating them, that next SE would either have to significantly backpedal to earlier generations or otherwise just be rebranded it as an 'Air' line product that has modern components (chipsets, camera sensors etc.) but massively cut-down hardware.

Maybe they'll give the lenses some love by then, they've backslid on that. iPhone 13 PM had ƒ/1.5 and ƒ/1.8 lenses (main/ultrawide), the 16 PM has ƒ/1.78 and ƒ/2.2 (main/ultrawide).

Upgrades nowadays is about the software not the hardware. Every phone manufacturer has peaked besides small specs bumps every year.
How can you say that when Huawei just launched a 3.6 mm thin trifold phone?

I am not sure just adding 48 mp to the telephoto will be enough I wanted the rumored 15 x telephoto (320 mm equivalent) otherwise I am going to keep my 15 PM til the 18 Pro line perhaps???

Maybe it's better to buy the iPhone Max 6,9" instead of the 8,3" iPad mini.
Not a really big difference, and only 1 devise, instead of iPhone and iPad's.
Will have to think of this, another option.

Whatever happened with the rumored iPhone Ultra? I would be all over an iPhone with an AW Ultra inspired design. Albeit i’m desperate for any kind of major design overhaul…
It morphed into what is now rumored as the iPhone Slim or Air. I don’t think it was ever meant to be like the Watch Ultra in terms of design. Like “Pro” and “mini” don’t imply a shared design.

My 15 Pro Max was replaced under AC+ yesterday. After 17 years of iPhone usage I finally cracked the hell out of a camera lens. I had the 18.1 beta on it. When I came to pick the repair up I was told there was other damage (which wasn’t my fault) and that combined with the beta meant the Genius system told them to just replace my phone for free. Now I have a new battery (set to 80% max charge) and a shiny new phone for the next year. 17 Pro Max here I come.

They're basically introducing a new form factor.... Kind of like they did with the iPhone X alongside the 8+...... I'm pretty sure in 2026 the air form factor will be used for the Pro models with high end specs.
The Air sounds more like a lifestyle product to have the thinnest iPhone possible, which means no thick cameras, and maybe also not the most powerful SoC, due to the smaller battery. That means it doesn’t square with the Pro line.

I'm in the same boat. I'm waiting another year.
That's probably how it will go for me. I'll check it once it lands at Best Buy and decide to wait another year. The most appealing things about it are the increased screen size and decrease in weight. I just can't see that as a reason to spend that kind of money. I might trade my AW8 for an AW10 instead.

Yeah, now that we are a few days out from the release I'm having mixed feelings about upgrading.

I usually upgrade every other year, like clockwork, but as I was about to upgrade last year to a 15Pro, I had an incident with my 13Pro in which apple replaced the device. The replacement iPhone 13Pro was brand new with 100% battery, and I've been using it now for about a year. I couldn't justify upgrading from a new iPhone 13Pro to a 15Pro. Instead of being two years old (or three) the 13Pro is now a year old and has 92% battery health. So I'm probably just going to wait until next year.

For a new Apple Watch, on the other hand, I may go ahead and upgrade from my 7 to a 10 or a black ultra. I'm waiting to see some reviews and teardowns and for the first price reductions.

Apple needs to step it up. I get it- mature tech so not a lot to do. Then maybe we just do new phones every 2 years instead of annually.

How about one of those big foldable? Better 20x- 30x zoom would be useful- I use that feature. Touch ID also would be nice to have back.

12GB of RAM and smaller Dynamic Island being only on 17 Pro Max would sting for any (Pro, non Max) users waiting to upgrade to 17 Pro instead of just getting the 16 Pro and enjoying present day tech (I say this as someone with a 14 Pro who probably won't upgrade to 16 Pro).

I'm still trying to decide what to do. 14PM here. I'm tempted to get the 16PM but not sure.
Same sit. except a 13PM here, would opt. for a 15PM if AAPL had any + good experience‘s trading w/ them even w/ their low offers.

Undecided today but may cave Fri @ 05 & then ride a 16PM until the 18’s drop in 2 yrs.

Really looking forward to dumping this 15 Pro Max for the 16 Pro next week.

I have the same mindset. I find I end up alternating max normal max normal max normal.

Maybe in some weird way, it is my justification for annual upgrades. If the size changes every year, I’ll feel like the phone is different.
