I can't wait for this to come out right before baseball season. Wow, can't wait to hit a tree because I was watching slingbox while driving. Would love to hook it up to a TV with iPod video cables.

I thought about the same thing. Must...not...use...SlingPlayer...to ...watch...Phillies....while...driving.

Sling Not!

I rather wait and see what AT&T U-Verse is going to do. I am thinking it will be a lot better then what Sling Box is going to offer. :)

ipod Touch

No support announced for the iPod Touch? It seems like it should as it states that it supports the iPhone over WiFi.

I'm assuming this is sarcasm. AT&T U-Verse? You'll pay up the wazoo for some service you use once in a while. Why not buy a Slingbox use the service you are already paying for, but using it when you aren't at home.

My wife and I live in Seattle while my parents still live in Chicago. I paid for an extra HD DVR for my parents comcast account and they have it set up in their "computer room" which rarely gets used, so I get Chicago Comcast which lets me watch sports teams that I actually care about. I can catch prime time 3 hours earlier. I can also catch the local news and see what's going on before I go out to visit.

If you don't want to pay extra for the extra DVR service, you can always just have your friend or family install the standard cable box and still get all the local channels.

You can't beat it.

It works great on my mac. I had it running on my PocketPC for a while, but dropped Sprint for my iPhone. I also have it installed on my Dell at work, so if I'm there late, I can have a little background TV.

If you don't have Slingbox, you gotta get it. It's a one time purchase with no optional fees for better service or anything like that. Depending on the model you get you can connect multiple devices. My home slingbox is connected to my Comcast HD DVR, APPLE TV, and I still have room for another device. I've heard of people with security cameras too... which is great for when you are away. If I'm stuck at the airport, I can watch a movie from my Apple TV at home, then switch to my parents Slingbox in Chicago and catch the Bears game. It truly does everything it says it will do.

As for the Slingplayer iPhone app, I see that as a cherry on top of an already delicious treat. I give it 5 out of 5 apples. :apple::apple::apple::apple::apple:

Does anyone know if the HD for Mac is reliant on the hardware, software or both?

If I buy the slingbox HD today, will I be able to get streaming HD to my Mac via a software update? Or will there be a completely separate box for Mac HD?

The only problem I have with the iPhone app is that you apparently need to login to the sling servers in order to start watching your slingbox tv setup. I don't like this because it will render all your hardware/app useless if the sling servers are down, for instance, if the company goes out of business.

If it's like their new desktop client then there should be a way around this default behavior of prompting you to login.
And not being able to login shouldn't prevent you from using your slingbox.

It's just the nature of every software company out there trying to tie you into logging into their crap and uploading your usage, and trying to make you part of yet another social network BS!@
