Just to let you know I upgraded to the Asus RT-AC68U last weekend and have been running my Air 2, 6 Plus and 5S perfectly now for a week without any wifi Issues.

These are all on the 5Ghz network and working at full speed.

I am also thinking of buying this. But I will wait for 8.1.1 and see if it fixes my issues first.

Brilliant! My asus should arrive today :)

Please keep us posted with your results.

8.1.1 helps but not 100%. Been few days and my wifi still works. Only this morning it runs slow and I need to off and on my wifi.

On 8.1 it is always full speed. But it seems off in background from time to time

Watching YouTube videos on my iPad has been nearly impossible since iOS 8. I cannot believe this still hasn't been fixed and I can't believe this thread is only 16 pages long. Wi-Fi is just as bad on my iPhone 6. Photos on various websites and Instagram refuse to load frequently. When I turn off wi-fi and switch to LTE, pictures load instantly. I hate iOS 8.

Edit: ISP: AT&T w/ 20mbps average, main router is an Airport Extreme with two Airport Express units on far corners of house extending wi-fi range. Slow wifi on both auto and 5GHz channels on all iOS 8 devices. Google DNS on all of them. Absolutely inexcusable, Apple.

The thing I just don't understand is this problem doesn't happen on my work's wifi. I'm baffled

I found a wifi issue on my iPhone 6. When connected to a 5ghz connection, at 20+ feet, the wifi crashes when a Bluetooth device is connected. I tested this with the iPhone 5, the problem didn't occur. I even used a different router, same thing. It was present before the 8.1 update. I even got the phone replaced and the problem persisted. The guy at the Mac store told me that it was an known problem with every iPhone 6.... And that it would be fixed with the 8.1 upgrade. He was incorrect, the problem didn't go away. I suspect that it's a hardware problem without a fix. I even made a video about it. I think this will be my last iPhone... I miss Steve jobs.

I'm sorry to hear that. My RT-AC68U has been working flawlessly for two weeks not without a single issue or drop. Don't understand why yours isn't doing the same. I hope 8.1.1 fixes the issue for you and everyone else.

Slow wifi in iOS 8?

I-aamir: Sorry I thought I updated this thread but it must have been another one. I got the IT people here to tell me their settings on the routers here. There were a few differences and the one that helped for me home was changing the encryption type from AES to AES+TKIP. Much more stable now but it's not 100% fixed.

Can you check your settings on the wifi and see what your encryption is set to?

I also noticed 2.4 was better than 5ghz As regards stability

Same setup as you and it is driving me crazy.

IPad Air dropping wifi frequently after ios8 update

Changed the 'channel on my BTHOME HUB 3 from 1 to 7 last night. I've been trying all sorts apps that suffered (Facebook, you tube, BBC iPlayer, Spotify) throughout today and so far ..... wifi has stayed on.

Thanks for those. What does b/g protection do? I have that turned off. Do you use 5ghz or 2.4 mainly?

Not sure what the protection does to be honest. It was the default setting so left it on.

I have all my apple devices on 5ghz and my wife's window and android on 2.4ghz. Both work strong with good range and speed. Maybe try my settings exactly the same and see how you get on?

Don't want to jinx it, but 8.1.1 *appears* to have fixed my wifi issues properly. However - this is after a completely cold reboot obviously after an update, so it may return to a disaster later. Will keep a close eye on it.

That's good to hear. A lot of other people are also reporting on other threads that the issue is fixed. I think Apple may have finally sorted it 3 months later!

Slow wifi in iOS 8?

Better late than never. My brother has an HTC One GPE with Kit Kat and it has a bug that makes the phone unrootable. The whole idea behind GPE is to have root access. Google has yet to fix it even after a lot of people have complained. He is waiting on Lollipop to see if that will fix it.

For What its Worth........

For those still unsure if to update to the latest firmware:

I was still on IOS 8.0.? due to the many people reporting that IOS 8.1 doesn't fix the wifi issues and caused further problems.

Being fed up with seeing the update notification on my settings icon and to be honest losing all faith in Apple I bit the bullet and updated to IOS 8.1.1 and now I can happily confirm:

iPhone 6

Updated to IOS 8.1.1

No large battery drain
No flakey Wifi
iMessage works fine
Safari loads pages without delays
No re-springs (never had these anyway)
Can make/ receive calls
Multitasking screen animation is smooth and fluid
Opening folders is again, smooth and fluid

These are my findings and I hope those still struggling have the same outcome as I have.

All the Best guys

I've updated to 8.1.1 and there has been no improvement to my wifi speeds.

Here is where I still stand:

My iPhone 4 on 7.1.2 (last week): D=10Mb/s U=6Mb/s
Wife's iPhone 5s on 7.1.2 (last week): D=10Mb/s U=6Mb/s

My iPhone 6 on 8 through 8.1.1 (yesterday): D=1.5Mb/s U=6Mb/s
Wife's iPhone 5s on 7.1.2 (yesterday): D=9.5Mb/s U=6Mb/s

The new ios still seems to be throttling the wifi speed to my phone and I've tried every trick in the book to fix it and nothing has worked. My ipad and my wife's iPhone 5, both not on ios 8, still have normal wifi speeds.

Sorry to hear that pal.

You've tried changing your router security settings haven't you?, as that was the thing that worked for me.

I've read that Beta 8.1.2 is now out for developers but I'd of thought Apple would of prioritised this issue in 8.1.1.

Hope you get yours sorted soon.

I am having a similar issue on my iPhone 6 with 8.1. My down speeds get degraded over time but the up speeds are not affected. When my router was running in the 5 ghz setting it I had worse speeds than when it was running on the 2.4 ghz setting. I do not know if you have tried changing the setting, but maybe it will help. In my case it did. I am supposed to get 25 down and 5 up, but over time my down speed slows to 15 and the up speed is not affected. When I log off the wifi network and log back on the speed goes up. After a few minutes it slows down again.

My router only runs at 2.4ghz and I have tried changing the security settings to every option available (has always been WPA2) and nothing has changed. My d/l speed always stays around 1.5-2Mb/s when it should be around 15-20Mb/s. I've changed channels, wireless names, security settings, and distances and nothing makes a difference. Again, my wife's iphone 5 and my ipad, both not on ios 8, have normal wifi speeds.
