I had posted here earlier about my ios 8 wifi connectivity woes. It's uncanny, but after several recent app upgrades, which included Facebook, most of the problems have resolved! I still get dropped while streaming on wifi a lot more than with ios 7.1.2, but it's still better. I'm curious to see what happens, if anything, with ios 8.1 on Monday.

The release notes for iOS 8.1 specifically mention resolving "issues with Wi-Fi performance that could occur when connected to some base stations".

I'm hoping that also fixes problems with Wi-Fi dropping periodically on it's own.

8.1 solved all my wifi issues on all the devices. It's blazing fast ans rock stable. Pretty late fix but at least they fixed it. It was their last chance...

That's great news! Anyone else having positive experiences with 8.1 fixing their wifi? I have a mini with retina display that was affected with the slow wifi issue since 8.0 which got worse with 8.0.2. I will be updating to 8.1 as soon as I get back home later today.

8.1 started well for me. Then I had the wifi bug return. No data, had to switch wifi on and off. Then reset network settings. Will wait to see if the issue returns.

Wow...I hope you are mistaken... :)

I have not yet faced the same issue yet but then again I see 8.1 dropping and reconnecting the WiFi in my office. It connects back in less than 2-3 secs but real test will be at home where I have this issue all the time.

I sure hope so, my 6+ won't stay connected to any wifi network for more than an hour or two. Usually much less.
 replaced my phone, but pretty sure is an iOS problem.
If 8.1 won't fix this , I'll probably switch to an Android phone.

On 8.0 and 8.02, resetting network settings would make everything work great for a hour or two, but problem always comes back.
Looking forward to hear if yours stays fixed!

I've got a 5c and wifi on 8 and 8.02 was painful. Upgraded today as I thought "it can't get any worse"!
So far so good, been using wifi for a couple of hours and it is back up to speeds I expect to have. I did reset all network settings after updating.

WiFi was working well for 8 hours. Then the internet stalled. Had to toggle off/on.
Better then the 3-4-5 times I was doing.
iPhone 5c

I had a few apps time out and complain that there was no network connection, so it's not fixed as far as I can tell.

I initially thought wifi was fixed but it has returned here too after a few hours. I'm now back on my 2.4 ghz network. So annoying. Why does apple always have wifi issues.

Strange...all my apple devices work now excellent over 5Ghz. No issues as all and very fast.

I finally got my iPhone 6 wifi issues sorted with IOS 8.0.2 by changing the security settings to WPA2 on my router and since no slow speeds/ drops etc.

Now IOS 8.1 is out there are many saying its sorted the wifi issues and equally people saying that its not sorted and for some its worse than ever.

I'm personally going to hold off updating as I feel that if the issues return it'll be the final straw for the iPhone for me, and I don't want that to happen.

Its like I've contracted OCD in checking my wifi connection wherever I go, to the point I'm contemplating uninstalling my wifi connection check app from my phone.

To those saying its been fixed, congratulations.
To those still struggling, I really feel for you guys as you shouldn't have to put up with inferior service from what is a premium product.

Little old me is sticking with IOS 8.0.2 until I see proof of it working correctly or next time I'm drunk at which point I couldn't give a ****.

All the Best

So Yesterday I upgraded by itunes to ios 8.1

Right after that I did a speedtest and got the same ****** speeds:
0.92Mb/5.66Mb

I thought let's reset networks settings. As usual it did the trick (73Mb/32Mb)....

...for a while as before.
This morning I am back to ****** results: 1.49/6,07

I think I am calling Apple soon

EDIT:
Actually I did some more testings and the wifi behaviour is quite weird...
If I put the iphone next to the base station, I get good speeds as should be expected (around 200Mb).
If I put it further (still not too far but with a wall between), wifi speed drops more than it should...
I will try when i can with my gf's iphone at the same place...

It's all pretty cr4p to be honest.

The more I read the longer I'll be sticking with 8.0.2

That's the problem I first noticed with iOS 8. The Wifi range is worse than it was under iOS 7. 8.1 didn't fix this.

I think 8.1 fixed the issue some people had where there device couldn't connect to 5 Ghz networks, but since I've seen problems on both 2.4 and 5 Ghz I don't think that applies to me. Most of the time the connection appears solid, but data doesn't transfer.

I'm still having problems. The only way for me to get consistently quick wifi is to go into airport mode.

This iPhone 5s is rapidly becoming the last iPhone I buy. This is an unbelievable bug.

Same problem. I CAN NOT BELIEVE THIS.

Wifi will drop at least twice a day to unusable speed - so that browsers and apps show the message "No Network Connection".

I have to toggle Wifi on/off and only then Wifi is back to normal.

Brand New iPhone 6 - iOS 8.1 and still have that problem.

WTF :apple:

Same here on my 6 plus with 8.1.
Won't even play nice with an APPLE base station.

getting sick and tired of apples updates....should of waited on upgrading to ios 8.1...my wifi before on ios 8.02 wouldnt always show my network connections so entered them in manually to connect to them and speeds were fine...Now on 8.1 speeds are eratic and very slow compared to before and dont always show my networks. Apple has to do a better job on testing updates and just the base OS to be frank before releasing it to the public maybe they should do a public beta with ios aswell like they did with yosemite because thats smooth as better.

I'm using an Airport Extreme as well, which angers me even more.

They can't even test there own products.

And this is the THIRD iOS 8 update and it's still not fixed.

Here are my wifi results:

My iPhone 4 on 7.1.2 (last week): D=10Mb/s U=6Mb/s
Wife's iPhone 5s on 7.1.2 (last week): D=10Mb/s U=6Mb/s

My iPhone 6 on 8.0.2 (yesterday): D=1.5Mb/s U=6Mb/s
Wife's iPhone 5s on 7.1.2 (yesterday): D=9.5Mb/s U=6Mb/s

My iPhone 6 on 8.1 (today): D=1.5Mb/s U=6Mb/s
Wife's iPhone 5s on 7.1.2 (today): D=10.5Mb/s U=6Mb/s

I've had no improvement with going to 8.1 and considering my wife's iphone 5s is having good speeds, I can only assume it is my new iPhone 6 or the ios. I've tried resetting the router, changing the DNS, disconnect/reconnect from the wifi and I'm getting no change in the results.
