exactly!lots of people would be happy with a small, simple, attractive and easy to operate phone that might just have enough storage for a few family photos, a few phone camera shots, itunes. Maybe a few simple games and a limited number of apps.
Don't need a ton of memory or a big screen.
Certainly doesn't need a contract.
This makes perfect sense to me. Apple should compete in any market it can and the non-smartphone market is huge.
People who post here want all the specs, the hacks, the video conferencing...most people don't.
This is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. The no-storage, 780p Apple TV is the second dumbest thing... Oh, wait, that one actually happened!
Remember how the original iPhone rumors said it was going to have two batteries? This reminds me of that, but then again, so did the Apple TV 2.0.
I'd say 2-5. The "cloud" has always been around its just a buzz word now.
i made a quick mockup

LOL seriously, what are you angry about?
why is it difficult to see how an ipod touch is equipped? I sent you a link of how to add a sim card to an ipod touch and it's only $89. if you cut out storage, made the device smaller and not as high quality camera etc. it can easily be had for $200.
Adding a sim card and antenna and making it a phone does not cost another $300.
ipod touch already has a camera all it needs is a sim and antenna, which does NOT cost $300.
Question is if there are enough people that would buy such a feature stripped device? It would work in less places than the iPods .... Apple usually does not make niche products for just a few people.
no $200 ipod touch? wow OK it's $229, only $29 more that is just crazy!!Well I might get angry if you continue not to make any sense. 😀
Apple can't even make a $200 Ipod touch. And somehow you think they can make a $200 Touch wtih voice and data etc? Wake up.
There's a difference between reality and delusion.
The cloud part of the rumor is bogus. Makes absolutely no sense.
See anyone not wanting a smartphone doesn't want one because you have to pay the expensive monthly plan.
A phone that streams all your crap to your phone means you need a data plan which means you are paying the same amount of money per month as a Iphone 4 which means it makes no sense when a 3gs is 0-$100 or a refurb Iphone 4 is $100-$150 roughly speaking.
So what's the point? To pay the same amount of money and get a ******** phone? Bah.
Plus all the cellular carriers are limiting 3g bandwidth. You don't get unlimited bandwidth now. Did you look at how much bandwidth they allow now for your $30? Is it 2 gigs? Yeah that will be great for a streaming cloud mini-iPHone.
This is completely the wrong direction that Apple should be heading...If anything, I'd love a BIGGER screened iPhone with 64 GB.
Tony
100% agree. I want a 4" - 4.3" iPhone. That is the only thing missing that has me eyeballing the HTC Desire HD...'cept for that Android nonsense.
no $200 ipod touch? wow OK it's $229, only $29 more that is just crazy!!
again, you are speaking in terms of a CONTRACT SUBSIDIZED phone. why is this so hard to grasp? The real price of an iphone 4 is $599. AT&T and verizon do what they call "SUBSIDIZE" since you are required to pay for data to make it more realistic for you to purchase it. Make sense now?
I know several people that have iPod touch that can be purchased at apple store for $229 and Amazon for around $200, which has a camera, 8gb storage and wifi. They can do apps, email, play music, heck even make calls over VOIP and do text messaging through google voice. ALL for just $200-$229. No data plan or contract to do so.
You didn't read my post. You make no sense. ARgue with yourself as that is what you seem to be doing. Please don't click "Quote" next time. Thank you.
This is pure speculation and a horribly thought out rumor at that.
Something close to this would be acceptable.
