Am I the only person who is a little stunned at this “foldable glass” mention? I’ve never heard of anything like that.

Is it foldable glass, or foldable “glass”?

I don't know if it's just me, but I have zero desire for a foldable phone. That makes an extra step that I do dozens of times per day, taking it out of my pocket to check something and it becomes a 1-hand operation to 2-hand. No thanks.

If I need a bigger display, I'll pull out my iPad or MacBook Pro.
Its not just you, however theres a lot of people that are intrigued by getting maybe some ipad productivity in a nearly phone sized device and a lot more people that just want to play with something new so others can see they have something different.

I still can't get excited about, or find any genuine reason for, a foldable phone. Maybe as a nicer way to watch Youtube etc on the rare occasions I am on a train or a plane?

I just do not know what my use cases would be for something that will cost 2K upwards.

Unless there is some undisclosed Apple magic that we are not aware of yet its just a complete no.

I didn’t want an unfolding iPhone, I wanted a folding iPad mini. This thing could be close. The software might surprise us

And a lot of people who want to criticize a device type they have never used or experienced.

Perhaps, or its possible a lot of those people are having a hard time understanding the device and trying to wrap their heads around it.

Personally i fall into the camp of could not care less, my 15pm still suits my needs and ill probably look for an upgrade in ‘27 or ‘28 depending on how bad ios continues to manage its use of my hardware with its software. This is the closest ive personally ever come to look at ios alternatives since getting my first iphone.

I really want the Ultra form factor, but I have young kids and take lots of pics, so a versatile camera system is too important for me right now. If/when they can somehow get a telephoto lens in the Ultra I’ll insta-buy.

I'm intrigued by the form factor but also skeptical how useful it would really be. It just seems too cumbersome to open it every time I need to interact with the phone.

It should sell quite well just because of the novelty factor. But somehow I'm thinking that it might disappoint in the long run.

I just imagined YouTubers (or whatever equivalent there is) in 20 years buying a mint-in-box original for $100,000 and trying to open it. Watching the two decade old glue just crumble away under the stress of being opened for the first time.

Why do people keep saying you have to open it to use it. It has an outside screen. It will, for the most part, look and be used exactly the same as your current phone. You only open when you want more screen space.

The rumors I’ve seen imply a more iPhone mini-sized device that is the size of a Pro Max when unfolded, so it may be aiming for the Mini at any price crowd and not the iPad in my pocket crowd.

It’s just you.

We’re all waiting for a phone we can’t put a case on, so that every drop requires apple care.

We’re all waiting for a phone that’s as expensive as an Iphone AND an iPad.

We’re all waiting for a phone that will require an 84-month payment plan; Poors be dammed.

We’re all waiting for a device that solves zero problems. But it’s NEW! 😍

We’re all waiting for Apple to tell us what we need next.

It’s just you.

Isn't a larger screen the whole point of a foldable phone 🤔 ?

So many here reflexively believe Apple is stupid (it's a forum tradition) and never thought about durability and haven't done any reliability testing on *their implementation* (which the public knows absolutely nothing about).
Apple's track record is better than most competitors, but far from perfect.

- Butterfly keyboard
- Weak display ribbon cables on MacBook Pros
- Antennagate
- LCD glue discoloration on earlier iPhones

Spot on.

No testing beats real world usage by actual users.

Personally, I'm going to wait several months for users to have real world usage, or maybe even gen 2.
