Smart Adhesive Is Key to Crease-Free Foldable iPhone Display

I don't know if it's just me, but I have zero desire for a foldable phone. That makes an extra step that I do dozens of times per day, taking it out of my pocket to check something and it becomes a 1-hand operation to 2-hand. No thanks.

If I need a bigger display, I'll pull out my iPad or MacBook Pro.

Only issue would be a thin line separating the two displays ... would be equivalent to probably a dozen pixels in width or so, mebbe. There's folks who would find that unacceptable.

By "ultra-precision hinge" in my original post, I meant one in which the gap between screens is no larger than the gap between pixels (or perhaps, as a compromise, smaller than the visual system's resolution when the phone is held at arm's length). Yes, I understand this would be expensive and difficult to manufacture, but then again so are foldable screens.

In the nearly a year that I’ve owned the Galaxy Z Fold 7, not once has the crease bothered me.

Yes, don't care about the crease, if it can last 2 years without fail as a daily driver I'll be really impressed.

I know the Ultra's / Fold's form factor is meant to go twice its width when switching to an unfolded mode, but I honestly wouldn't mind a single screen that's a little bit shorter and wider for a single-screen device.

i know the technology is very different from phones of yesteryear, but I’ve had plastic screens before, and I don’t care for them.

I’m a jeweller so frequently have fine particles of metal about my person, namely my fingertips. My previous iPhones glass was scratched after one swipe at the workshop.

Keep it.

On the Galaxy Fold 7, the screen protector is plastic. The screen is glass. Gorilla Glass Victus 2.

Makes sense. I waited to buy the Samsung Fold until the 4th iteration.
