Yes it seems like Apple did something. It will probably be fixed with the final release.

they had to. mine was working fine on iPad; OS X stopped working. So i tried to play around a bit and now neither OS X or my iPad are relaying SMS. There was a note from apple saying SMS Continuity will be released as an update to iOS 8 in october i guess when Yosemite is finally released. My hope is it starts to work again in the GM of yosemite.

It doesn't make sense to me, that Apple would turn this off during the beta stage, especially one that it made public. I have a feeling that they are going to change the list of devices that can make use of this feature or more narrowly define the extent of its use amongst the various devices.

It was working last night, not anymore. Well... kinda; I still receive SMSs on the Messages app on my Mac but can't seem to send any, it always fails.

This is weird. SMS Relay works perfectly on my iPad mini running iOS 8 GM, but it's not working at all on OS X Yosemite PB 2. Voice call still works for some reason.

I think Apple changed its web page to say, "Coming in October," in small gray text.
http://www.apple.com/ios/whats-new/continuity/

i just don't even get it this has been working perfectly fine for all of us why take away only to introduce after iOS 8 and Yosemite have been out (is why i assume coming in october) cuz sure half the point is you can send/recieve them from your OS X devices but the other half is you can receive them on your iPad too and thats ios 8 which we will all have in less than a week which i KNOW we were ALL already hardcore using the SMS Continuity. Oh :apple::apple: maybe they feel like if they don't release it with Yosemite people won't realize Yosemite can do that, or i don't fugggggin know I'm reaching.

DONT TRY TO PLAY WITH ANYTHING

same exact **** happened to me but after a few sign outs of iCloud on a couple devices my iPad and Yosemite are not Sms Relaying.

still working for me. but i shall not touch anything :p

edit: restarted my phone and it stopped working. Guess i'll go back to 7 soon since the decreased battery life isn't worth the.. wait what new features in 8 can i use now? lol

You can add me to the list of SMS relay not working anymore.

iPhone 4S iOS 8 GM, Yosemite PB2.

For me, phone calls are working just fine, but I can't send or receive SMS on my Mac. Anyone have a solution?

iPhone 4s (iOS 8 GM), cMBP (Yosemite beta 7)

SMS and phone still working great.
I reckon they say its coming in October since you cant expect the general public to run beta software (and they mention "all devices" and dont differenciate).

That said, I wonder how the feature works if youre disconnected from the internet.. (say if SMS relay is truley local or goes through iCloud)

Devices have to be on the same Wifi is all that Apple has said, if I remember correctly. There has been no mention of having to be on the internet. I would think SMS would be handled by the carrier.

definitely not the same wifi. sms i sent on campus was waiting for me all synced up on my iPod at home

I am logged into iMessage with my Yahoo IM account as well, and just sent a text message to my iCloud account and the text showed up on the iPad Air and iPhone 5. So, the SMS relay is not completely turned off. Had a family member send me a text from Galaxy phone a few hours ago, and it only went to my iPhone.

Sending message to icloud always worked. SMS relay is between non apple phones and iPad/iPods/macs

SMS relay and phone calls BOTH not working here.
iPhone 5 and iPad Air.

Weird... I can still make phone calls on my iPad but SMS is no go.

Did you set these features up the day of iOS 8 GM release? If not, it was probably disabled altogether before you got to it.

I checked again 5 minutes ago and i got the phone calls to work :) i had an option in Facetime section (?) disabled, I activated it both on iPad and iPhone and now it works.
Thanks for answering! ;)

Mine seem to have stopped working also. Was working fine the day iOS8 GM was released. Phone calls, Handoffs, and tethering seem to be working fine.

Odd, I can't seem to find a setting for it anywhere. One would think there would be a toggle for it somewhere.

iPad Air and iPhone 5
