mine was ok but it has weakened a little

I am sure they are OK if you are just using it on a desktop and worried about kids, dog, etc. running into the cord. But I tend to like to use my laptop on my lap, and for that it didn't do nearly as well as MagSafe. The newer MagSafe, also didn't do as well for that as the older version imho.

That's what I read about it, guess the search continues for a MagSafe replacement

I should have read more reviews on it, but I had to go to Best Buy for a couple of other purchases, saw it on the shelf, recalled the recommendation, and decided to grab one.

After about 1 hour of mostly failed use, I unplugged it and back it goes. As you say, the search for a MagSafe replacement continues :)

This is why I avoid Kickstarter and other crowd funding. There are no guarantees. Even if someone isn't a scammer, but things happen that they can't make it through you are still out of luck. You are basically gambling.

Really it seems like when you invest in a kick starter you are donating money to help a company that is working on something interesting. I don't really think that it should be viewed as purchasing something. Seems like you are really donating and as a gift you get something in return if and when the company brings product to market...if they don't ever bring it to market then your donation was spent trying but they failed...that seems like how it should work anyway.

Fair enough, if thats your view. But most people look at this as investing early in a product or item they want.

That is how it should work, but in some cases your only financing a lifestyle of lavish vacations, sports cars and strip clubs...

Actually I don´t think anymore Snapnator is a scam. A swiss guy (who could prove it by posting answers in Schwizerdütsch which is definitely out of scope for chinese scammers) has gotten a working handmade prototype. So they definitely have been working on something.

Either way Snapnator is not that interesting since it does only power delivery, the more interesting project in this area is Magneo, which also faces some delays.

It's no so much that it's his subjective view, as it's the objective purpose of the site. There's always inherent risk involved.
I can see that point. I just never really saw it that way personally and Im sure others are the same way. Its why Ive never done a kickstarter and why others complain "scam" when something like this happens.

I don't believe this is a scam in the sense that it was planned, but this type of stuff is complicated. Anything goes wrong and delays things and its a mess.

Yesterday evening I complained to paypal about the Snapnator purchase i made on snapnator.com, and said i either wanted my purchase shipped or my money back. The money was refunded by Snapnator after less than eight hours.

So it doesn't seem like a scam, more like they have run into problems. Very strange that they are not communicating with their clients though.

It's April tomorrow and the website still says "Delivery of rewards/perks are subject to best efforts and not guaranteed"

please, do not have any future hope in this (scam) project, its a waste of your time and energy.
We will never, ever receive anything from them.

For me personally, never gonna support any future Kickstarter again. This is the 2nd project where I have been scammed.

That is the nature of crowdfunding. There's inherent risk.

and I fully realise that. I pretty much understand the crowdfunding formula and thuse the risks being involved.
But being scammed for the 2nd time (so 2 separate projects), is in my opinion something totally different then ''inherent risks''.

And you can find more Kickstarter projects where people are just being scammed. I think Kickstarter should do a little bit more to keep the people out, who purely have as goal to scam people with fake projects.

I agree with you as well. I have lost money on a couple Kickstarter projects as well. There are no protections for the buyer. I have actually lost money on two of five projects I invested in, before deciding it wasn't worth the risk. It definitely seems to go beyond just inherent risk

Disappointed. I gave them the benefit of the doubt for a while, but a couple of weeks ago disputed the charge on my CC. Just got confirmation this week and received a refund from the CC company. Using paypal would have been the smarter move, but it worked out.

Too much looked fishy, including the very generic pictures they posted a couple weeks ago, that I felt it was too much. Will continue to follow and if the ever actually release a product, I will definitely be interested.

They just released an update saying production is complete and they are starting to ship (although they have said this before). The key difference is they have actual product photos which, to my brief glance, looked legit. Am still interested to see if this actually goes off.

One questions I have, since this is my first Kickstarter. As I mentioned above, I received a refund from my credit card company. I sent a message to Kickstarter to cancel, but there is really no way to cancel a backing. Does this mean I will still get the product? If I end up getting it, and it works as advertised, then I would have no issue paying for the device (in lieu of returning). Just wondering how that works.

Here is their update.

You'll probably get it. I didn't ask for a refund because, well, it's only 30 bucks and going through the hassle wasn't worth it to me. I'm hoping to get mine in about half a year at their current speed

I'm willing to bet this is just another ploy to string folks along.

"Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. Looks like it'll be another 5-10 more minutes, and then we'll be cleared for takeoff." (for the 5th time)

Best of luck.

For anyone that was following this scam, I mean thread....it looks like someone posted a video of receiving the product. This is not my video, just saw it posted on their website. So what do you think? I don't like the gap and it looks like it could damage the USB C port or bend it inside.

Doubtful. Any USB-C connector bent down flexes like this. I am looking forward to the eventual release to me of the product, though.

My memory may be faulty here--but even though the Youtube posting of that unboxing is dated one day ago, wasn't there a similar (identical) video of such an unboxing two months back that was later taken down?

I couldn't swear to it, but I think this "new" unboxing video has been recycled from February?

There are numerous people on the website that have received the product. Far to many for it to be a scam. It seems their communication could have been better, but that they put out a legit product. Looking forward to seeing some real reviews and testing though.
