I don't like how it's pulling the whole device from the USB C that is not how MagSafe is suppose to work.

I know thats not suppose to happen
but to me.....
I think original magsafe is not intend to be pulled in that direction as well, hard to disconnect that way .
(side ways are easier to get it unplugged)

I pledge for 2 set, I was considering to use one on both side,
but since it's not to hard to take it off
I think I can take the whole set off if I'm not charging,
and easily switch side just with one set

and... even to original type c charging cable easily comes off in that direction.
so at least snapnator would protect my MBP when the cable get tripped in all other direction.

It's good news that this didn't turn out to be a scam but their communications were terrible. Even when customers were complaining for weeks and months they didn't do much to elevate the issues.

I had a 2015 15" for 2 weeks so I l got to see how it worked, your right that it works best by pulling it off from the side. So this 3rd party rip off looks pretty good and I guess the best it can be based on it sticking out and not a permanent cap like the original MagSafe. My only concern...is the wattage correct and within compliance of Apples specs in charging and connecting to the USB C port.

Surprised - but got my unit in the post today, will try it out later...!!

Pic attached, no fancy box for me looks like retail packaging, wonder what the blue tile is for...?

I received mine today, the same as @Rankrotten no fancy packaging, unsure what the blue pick is for.

Initial impressions:

- Quality is much lower than expected, doesn't seem solid when in port hole.

- Doesn't fit all the way on my 2016 rMBP.

- Didn't charge at the first connection I thought it was broken, worked after re-connecting it... I managed to reproduce the issue once or twice more but with no consistent fault, I guess it just won't always make full contact or something due to poor quality?!

- Upon disconnecting the first time I managed to pull away the metal casing exposing the innards of the connector, only a tiny amount of glue was holding the metal casing around the guts of the connector.

Verdict: junk. I won't be putting this thing back in my expensive Macbook.

It may not be a scam, but I still feel robbed.

^^this sort of thing makes you appreciate how Apple goes to great lengths to perfect a product before launching it to the public. For instance their patent on MagSafe.

This Snapator is probably something that's going to work but not work very well and quality control will be lacking in parts and materials. I'd just be concerned how it's going to affect the internal USB C port over time and if it's within compliance electrically when inserted and heat build up.

Having a product doesn't negate it from being a scam.

Right and it would be interesting to know the cost it took for them to make each one of these X the number of items shipped vs how much funds did they raise? Cost to ratio and how much did these creators profit from this item. Did they make a killer profit and then produce/ship an inferior product (hey can't say they didn't ship something) or did they barely break even and not make much profit? We'll never know but still interesting to think about.

found another one
seems to be ok?
but still waitting for mine

Thanks for posting my video :) I'm not using the Snapnator day to day as it runs too hot for my liking. Lesson learned - I won't be using kickstarter again. :)

Well given how niche this product is (first you'd need to find MacBook Pro 2016 users and in addition, they'll have to find this product and want it), I have no doubt little R&D would have gone into this and would have been a "make cheap as possible" job, like those £0.59 iPhone cases.

I just received my Snapnator today. Unfortunately, it's a piece of junk. Build quality is terrible (dried glue oozing out of the seams), magnet is way to strong and finicky. It's going straight to the garbage.

Yeah, I'm done with Kickstarter as well. After getting duped on the first two Kickstarter projects, I decided it just wasn't worth the risk. In each case, the startup couldn't meet any deadlines they stated; not even close. Yet, they were still pushing a false narrative months after I pulled out.

When I asked for my money back they sent me a policy letter stating they were not obligated after a certain period of time. However, when I contacted my bank Visa card, they quickly refunded the money. Bottom line: Not everybody who starts up a new company in their garage is going to be the next Steve Jobs.

Well, I got mine today...
[doublepost=1498350947][/doublepost]
All the projects (Both hardware and software) I backed on kickstarter came to fruition and I always received what I was expecting.

Hit and miss for me. One thing I backed never delivered, other ones did.
[doublepost=1498351847][/doublepost]After reading further here though prbl only will use it when I am physically next to the MBP

I don't think they're good at communication -- never answered my queries -- but I received my Snapnator today and it looks great.

I got mine today after waiting 3 weeks. Ordered direct from their website.

Horrible piece of junk product. Build quality and finish is unacceptable. Fit is unacceptable. I didn't even bother plugging in my power cord to it to try it out. I emailed them photos and demanded a refund.

To @op

Kickstarter is not a guarantee to produce and realise "idea".
They are asking money to get an idea out there.

These are usually people with an idea that need help realising it, and most of them never make it, and those who do are overwhelmed with the money and the things they have to actually produce and die or get sold to someone else.

If you put money in expecting to see it back: you dont' really understand the purpose of kickstarter, as the title of the site isn't just a random name for some marketplace. It's not a marketplace.

Duh, ppl ask for money for things that dont' exist, and then when they reach their goal they have a hard time delivering. If they had the experience and infrastructure to go big, they probably wouldn't need to ask online for money.

I never invest in those things, once they are a great success and have proven themselves, I can probably buy them through the official channels still.. year(s) later.

As someone who backed the project, it's 7 months plus behind and I haven't gotten any updates, shipping information, nothing. It's a SCAM and if you look up the responses from backers on KickStarter - We're all pissed at the silence. I've actually written in to as them to shut it down.

Adding insult to injury their Snapinator.com website says the product is shipping...

Oh and the reviews - considering it took another few months to "get it right" are abysmal...

Yeah, We backed the original product - they still haven't shipped ours. I complained to KickStarter, and asked for my money back.
