I've had problem with QuickSilver on each dev Snow Leopard build where you can't pull up the preferences pane. Anybody else have an issue with the RTM version of Snow Leopard.?

And I'll give Windows 7 a serious look when it's out, it might be time to jump ship, even though I would terribly miss iPhoto.

It's easy to give Windows 7 a "serious look". The RC is on lots of (legitimate) mirrors, and the RTM is around if you know where to look (wink, wink).

Windows 7 will run full-featured for 30 days without a key, so it's easy to test with no money up front.

The RC (build 7100) is more-or-less the same as the RTM (build 7600) as far as features go. Both are rock-solid - especially the true 64-bit x64 version.

What a disappointment Parallels 3.0 is expected to stop working. I'll pass the OS upgrade on it. And I'll give Windows 7 a serious look when it's out, it might be time to jump ship, even though I would terribly miss iPhoto.

VirtualBox works fine and is free. I don't understand why it doesn't get more publicity. Apple and others never mention it.

CS3 is not supported on SL, Looks like there are several companies out there who are using this as an opprtunity to sell a new release rather than support software that is not very old.

I know Adobe won't support CS3 but I'm sayin' I hope it will work :p

Too wide

Wikidot page of software compatibility displays too wide for a window smaller than the screen width, making it difficult to produce a pdf file. However, I don't see that anyone else takes notice of this.

The text also is too large and must be reduced to get the page to fit - even though it should be sized automatically.

Some floating window that is an ad covers part of the table, regardless of the size of the text (which changes the width of the table).

Perhaps printing pdfs will be improved in Snow Leopard so that it will be WYSIWYG. This reminds me of what is produced when I print on-screen windows on a WINDOZ machine.

NOTE: The problems with page width and text being off the table start just after the app Jing and go to the end.

Doesn't it seem odd that with all the online chatter about Snow Leopard for the last year, no one seems to have focussed on this non-compatibility issue til now? Any chance this is simply not accurate? Who is saying these things are incompatible and why didn't the testers discover these?
Well... Apple would not release Snow Leopard to developers unless they paid $500-3500. If you didn't pay up, you couldn't report bugs in Snow Leopard, couldn't get documentation, couldn't discuss problems with anyone.
Seems really backwards to me. You'd think they want to have a beta so that developers could sort out the problems. Usually the OS and tools are inexpensive, but new OS coming out and they gouge.

Result is a buggy and relatively untested operating system. Looks at Walt Mossberg's review. Sounds like he himself reported a mess of bugs to Apple. They'll fix it was the response, but a reviewer reporting a mess of bugs right before release? Not well tested.

Ugh... was really hoping on installing SL tomorrow.. ah well, it'll have to wait now. I need working Sil3132 drivers for my expresscard/34 eSATA adapter...

Yea I kinda chuckled at that review. Seems like every ending to a paragraph said, "Apple will fix this." lol

Transmission already has an update to make it 64 bit compatible. Also, how can you tell if your running in 64 bit or 32 bit?

Bootcamp and SL

any issues with boot camp and windows XP/Vista so far?

the guys in the other part of the world and who installed SL please post your opinion how best is the performance is?

I read somewhere that Parallels might be working on a patch for 3.0

4.0 is worth the upgrade. I had nothing but problems with 3. 4 works worlds better for me at least. I bet i emailed parallels support at least a dozen times due to blackberry desktop mgr not working correctly.

Drobo is good to go:
http://support.datarobotics.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/370

Unless you're using iSCSI with a DroboPro, which I am. Boo

One of the big ones I've heard floating around is that AT&T USB Cards are a no go. Specifically the USB 881B, I'll test that myself and find out. But that really kills me updating the laptops.

On the desktop side I have a lot of pro apps I'm worried about but most have been confirmed to work by now.

Things I still have questions about on the consumer side...
  • last.fm or iScrobbler
  • Drobo and Drobo Dashboard
  • NetNewsWire

I see both Microsoft Mouse 7 and Microsoft Office 2008 present on that wiki page, if that is confirmed to be true, then I will not be upgrading until there is a fix for these.

MS Office '08 notes that it is good to go, with just one user reporting very slow load times, but it is apparently better after the SP was installed.

It's definitely faster, just about everything seems smoother or more snappier.

Oh, and I chose not to install Rosetta but found out The Frozen Throne and Diablo 2 needed it, so I will install it soon. It's small so I don't care.

Cupertino - start your photocopiers....

Are you suggesting that Apple should "start their photocopiers" and have an open beta and RC with millions of free testers like Microsoft has with Windows 7?

Thank you, hope everything runs fine tomorrow finally i get my copy of SL.

Parallels 3.0

Hhm, this blows it for me.

Apple should consider giving people money for OS updates. Considered how much you have to spend to get all your applications running again...

Mossberg review said that Office works on his tests - I'm assuming it is 08

You can reset the activation timer too. That gives you 120 days to TRY Windows 7.

Anyone know of an expresscard/34 2 port eSATA card that is compatible with snow leopard and my late 2008 unibody 15" MacBook Pro w/ 4GB ram?

Not enough info.

Thanks goodness Parallel 4 is compatible! Phew! Same thing to Coda as well.

I hope most of CS3 apps (DW, FW, PS, AI, FL and BR) will be working OK.

Wondered if those will work OK?
QuickSilver (verrrry important)
Lux Delux
MAMP
Extensis Suitcase Fusion (1st Gen.)
Flip4Mac
HandBrake
AppZapper
Xslimmer (not sure but will make sense to remove unnecessary languages and other crap)
Adium
ExpanDrive
PixelMator
Onxy
Wacom drivers
smcFanControl
SuperDocker
Transmit
UnRarX
VLC
Wallet

I confirmed on Handbrake forums that SL has no issues playing nice with Handbrake. I would assume that goes for VLC since the latest HB uses VLC somehow. MetaX is hopefully on board as I use this software a lot.

What is so bad about it? Especially since it is leaked anyway...

So, comparing that to Microsoft's open beta/RC program is obvious.
