And I'll give Windows 7 a serious look when it's out, it might be time to jump ship, even though I would terribly miss iPhoto.
What a disappointment Parallels 3.0 is expected to stop working. I'll pass the OS upgrade on it. And I'll give Windows 7 a serious look when it's out, it might be time to jump ship, even though I would terribly miss iPhoto.
CS3 is not supported on SL, Looks like there are several companies out there who are using this as an opprtunity to sell a new release rather than support software that is not very old.
Well... Apple would not release Snow Leopard to developers unless they paid $500-3500. If you didn't pay up, you couldn't report bugs in Snow Leopard, couldn't get documentation, couldn't discuss problems with anyone.Doesn't it seem odd that with all the online chatter about Snow Leopard for the last year, no one seems to have focussed on this non-compatibility issue til now? Any chance this is simply not accurate? Who is saying these things are incompatible and why didn't the testers discover these?
Result is a buggy and relatively untested operating system. Looks at Walt Mossberg's review. Sounds like he himself reported a mess of bugs to Apple. They'll fix it was the response, but a reviewer reporting a mess of bugs right before release? Not well tested.
I read somewhere that Parallels might be working on a patch for 3.0
One of the big ones I've heard floating around is that AT&T USB Cards are a no go. Specifically the USB 881B, I'll test that myself and find out. But that really kills me updating the laptops.
On the desktop side I have a lot of pro apps I'm worried about but most have been confirmed to work by now.
Things I still have questions about on the consumer side...
- last.fm or iScrobbler
- Drobo and Drobo Dashboard
- NetNewsWire
I see both Microsoft Mouse 7 and Microsoft Office 2008 present on that wiki page, if that is confirmed to be true, then I will not be upgrading until there is a fix for these.
any issues with boot camp and windows XP/Vista so far?
the guys in the other part of the world and who installed SL please post your opinion how best is the performance is?
Drobo is good to go:

Unless you're using iSCSI with a DroboPro, which I am. Boo![]()

Seems really backwards to me. You'd think they want to have a beta so that developers could sort out the problems. Usually the OS and tools are inexpensive, but new OS coming out and they gouge.

It's definitely faster, just about everything seems smoother or more snappier.
Oh, and I chose not to install Rosetta but found out The Frozen Throne and Diablo 2 needed it, so I will install it soon. It's small so I don't care.
Are you suggesting that Apple should "start their photocopiers" and have an open beta and RC with millions of free testers like Microsoft has with Windows 7?
You can reset the activation timer too. That gives you 120 days to TRY Windows 7.It's easy to give Windows 7 a "serious look". The RC is on lots of (legitimate) mirrors, and the RTM is around if you know where to look (wink, wink).
Windows 7 will run full-featured for 30 days without a key, so it's easy to test with no money up front.
The RC (build 7100) is more-or-less the same as the RTM (build 7600) as far as features go. Both are rock-solid - especially the true 64-bit x64 version.
Not enough info.
Thanks goodness Parallel 4 is compatible! Phew! Same thing to Coda as well.
I hope most of CS3 apps (DW, FW, PS, AI, FL and BR) will be working OK.
Wondered if those will work OK?
QuickSilver (verrrry important)
Lux Delux
MAMP
Extensis Suitcase Fusion (1st Gen.)
Flip4Mac
HandBrake
AppZapper
Xslimmer (not sure but will make sense to remove unnecessary languages and other crap)
Adium
ExpanDrive
PixelMator
Onxy
Wacom drivers
smcFanControl
SuperDocker
Transmit
UnRarX
VLC
Wallet
What is so bad about it? Especially since it is leaked anyway...
