I know this is most probably fake, but I found this not long ago:

This is clearly a joke on the so-called new interface, Marble.

No way. Look at the massive number of severe "showstopper" bugs in these developers release builds: the installer is screwy, the Finder is riddled with bugs, sleep doesn't work, machine support is highly limited. Development seems to be progressing at a snail's pace.

I'm sticking with October as the release timeframe.

Just because something is a show-stopper doesn't make it tough to fix. Not starting from sleep could be a 20 line fix... it just didn't make the cut for the build.

That said, I do think June is optimistic.

I bet one of my children that that's fake. I'll be switching back to the PC too for that matter.

Haha of course it's fake!

  • The marbled look would be hard to make look good and not stretched when resizing windows
  • It doesn't match the computers they ship (Aqua -> G3 iMac, iBook and Tiger/Leopard style metallic aqua -> Entire range right now) unless they are going to start shipping stone computers :D
  • It's ugly and not as nice as the current one

And anyway, from my years of Photoshopping experience, I can clearly tell by the pixels.

What I really hope, and I posted about it before, is that Spotlight windows in the Finder will be revamped so that they work like those in Tiger. (And I'm not talking about the Tiger special Spotlight windows, but the search results windows integrated to the Finder)

In Tiger, a Finder Spotlight window would behave just like any other Finder windows, you could have any number and type of column you wanted.

In Leopard, for some reason they crippled the Spotlight windows with only three columns (Name, Kind and Last Opened) that you can't change, as the "View option" palette will not work on these windows.

I would hope that with the Cocoa Finder, the code would be more modular so that making Spotlight windows behave like other Finder windows would be easier.

But… but… there are SECRET INTERNAL BUILDS!
Yep. In fact, it has been final for years now, they're just building suspense. The issues with the betas must be due to that nefarious debug code--I'm sure everything is perfect once it's removed. ;)

Oh yeah. Don't forget the new "Top Secret" features too. :p

you know what I miss?!

I miss the ability to call numbers through my cell phone from within OSX. With all the added data detectors it we be sure great if they would bring that back (esp with the iPhone now).

Snow Leopard will be released during WWDC09. Unless it's going to be another 90 minutes of drivel about the iPhone.

At least builds are progressing, albeit rather slowly.

Not quite 90 minutes but I'm sure it will be close. WWDC 09 does seem to be the best bet for an SL announcement....

Wonder what the March 24 rumour is about?

Hideous

Ha! you can rest assured Apple will put out a netbook/slate/tablet before they did anything like this. That looks like a crappy, RAM hogging, windows 95 skin. I don't know the correct term for those things... Keep in mind, the previous interface was known as "Aqua" and unless I'm going blind, I don't see any water ripples in my finder.

good times

Yeah, I remember when you could send text messages from yahoo messenger. Imagine if Yahoo had stood up to the phone companies like Apple did. The world might have been be a different place.

Well yes & no!

Well remember the pro apps (Aperture, Final Cut Pro, Logic, Photoshop) are all going to be updated this year, and they you are going to need a Core i7 (and Snow Leopard) to run them anyway near their full potential.
The apps may be updated but to say i7 is required for full potential in performance does mean a lot given that i7 is a faster processor architecture. It is not like the programs will suddenly stop working on non i7 hardware. It isobvious that a faster process will benefit most complex platforms.
So I would say that the Core i7 is going to be the minimum requirement for Snow Leopard in 12 months time.
I would say that exactly. What I would say that it is pretty stupid of Applenot to have quad cores in it's lower end desktops. People are really going to want more than two cores to leverage SL.

This is one of the reasons that I see the new iMac releases as being such a boondoggle as no person in their right mind would go out and spend money on ahigher end Mac that doesn't have four cores. It is so obvious that those cores will be very important on future platforms. If one has a clue about SL then four cores should be seen as a requirement.

Now admittedly i7 will have some advantages in how those cores operate. It is not however as big as going from 2 to 4 on other architectures.

Hopefully Snow Leopard will be demoed on the MacPro. I can't wait for this.

and on the slower Mac models, one with leopard, and one with SL, so the low end users notice the difference too!

Mac Pros are so fast in terms of hardware the OS doesn't need to be changed. *exaggeration*

Just going to reiterate what was said before in the hopes that you come back and try to justify yourself, if not that's okay.

Where did you get this....?

I mean.... I understand what you may have been TRYING to say, but this is way off and WAY left feild. Apple will be dropping PPC support at MOST.

That said, it would bet *stupid* of Apple not allowing SL to run on Quad G5...

Screenshot of new quicktime anyone?

The new marble interface will be lifted from itune/ilife apps, matt blue bar to match the matt grey edges, a bit dull?
