You can now add icons to the button bar in Finder windows...

Hope this one hasn't already been posted, but I noticed that you can now drag icons to the area around the button bar on any Finder Window (on mine, it's next to the little gear/work button). You can then click that icon in any open Finder window. To remove, hold the command key and drag it off (to a poofing sound)

That’s not new. I’ve been using it to add a Time Machine button to my windows since Leopard.

I'm sorry if this has already been noted:

If you have a Photo Booth window open it now continues to show the live-stream from the webcam, even when it's not the active window. In Leopard, Photo Booth showed a freeze-frame of the last image seen when it was deselected.

Pointless, but it's a change.

OH MAN, I used to have fun taking screengrabs of those random freeze frames lol.

You can now have multiple instances of widgets (or at least the weather widget) with different settings (in this case, different locations).

Not sure if this is new in SL or not, but last I tried it in Leopard they would both reset to the same location next time I loaded Dashboard.

That's been there since 10.0 or maybe even the pre-10.0 Public Beta.

I know whenever Apple releases an update and I go and look for all the new stuff, inevitably I find something I've never seen before in my life and then find out it's always been there.

That's definitely been around.

iChat

In iChat, if you type a phone number in the right notation, you get a drop down menu with contact options.

How do you combine chats like that?

Another thing: I was deleting my Developer folder to reinstall using the SL disc, and look at the progress window.

LOL, people ask me that all the time. It's in Preferences, under the Messages tab, 3rd checkbox from the bottom, "Collect chats in a single window." Speaking of which, those who downloaded the alpha of Chax for Snow Leopard might have noticed that the option to display chat history is missing. That's because it is now a feature in iChat, right above the aforementioned checkbox =D.

Anyone else notice how the green button in the Finder now sizes your window to the EXACT size of the content within it?... Even down to the pixel! It's always been a few pixels off and I could never figure out why. Now it behaves more like Mac OS 9 did. Sweet!

Also, I don't know if anyone else noticed this but... when you're using the 2D Dock and the Genie Effect... when you minimize a window, a dark shadow seems to grow under the minimized window, and then it disappears when the window is finished minimizing. It's easier to see if you slow it down with the shift key, but it's not that hard to see without slowing it down. It only does this with the 2D Dock and Genie Effect. Note: You won't see it on a dark background... such as the default background image. Try switching to a light background, like the Snow Leopard photo.

When you double click on an item in Activity Monitor (to get info on a process), there is (where relevant) a new tab:

- Open files and ports.

I only remember “Memory” and “Statistics” being there before.

Worked since I've had my 3gs. Long before SL

That’s how I invoke QS :(

My trigger for emptying the trash from any application is also now in use by Mail (cmd-shift-delete)

Blast!

Two new menu shortcuts:

*Cmd-Shift-T will add the selected icon to the Dock
*Cmd-Shift-Up will select the current startup disk on the Desktop (if you have it set to show disks there - might have been in Leopard though)

This is a hardware upgrade, not a software upgrade. The UB MacBooks should have always done it.
