You did not get 33GB back. Snow Leopard measures space differently. The larger your hard drive, the more space it looks like you get back.

I have a feeling that them moving to base 10 is going to cause a lot of problems for people.

Here is the support document on Apple's website that talks about how Snow Leopard measures drive capacity differently than Leopard and below: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2419

The password window now says "Incorrect name or password" in red when you type in the wrong password.
If you take another look you'll notice another difference in Snow Leopard. Normally when you have a window where you need to enter your credentials you have a small arrow you can click to see what piece of software wants your credentials. The password window when locking the Mac used to do this as well but doesn't do that any more in Snow Leopard. Other password windows still have the arrow to check what software wants your credentials.

BEFORE I START:
I run Photo Desktop 2.

I pressed the button I have set to spaces (Fn) and in Leopard it just showed my desktop picture not the pictures I had in Photo Desktop 2 but now it shows them when I press that button:)

Lol. With the dropping costs and expanding size of hard drives, does it really ***** matter to you nerds that "know" so much about file reading in SL how small a difference true versus reported space is gained?

To all others. Enjoy the space and what is to come with SL.

Oh I forgot. I am glitch free so far in SL off of a clean install. UMBP 2.4/4GB.

THANK YOU. Seriously guys, is this a thread for arguing, or for pointing out Snow Leopard changes? If someone posted that they gained more space, then they gained more space. You think you know more than them? Were you sitting behind them when they did it? If they say they did, they did, and if they are wrong, then they are wrong, leave it alone it's not worth it.

O and congrats on being glitch free, wish I could say the same.

NO!!! What is wrong with you people? Read the thread. Snow Leopard calculates space differently. I'm sure many people did in fact gain space back, but they did NOT gain as much as many are claiming.

So as not to be a hypocrite, this is the first and last time I am going to bother with you directly. Did YOU read the title of the post? "Snow Leopard - Hints, Tips and little changes," NOT "Snow Leopard - I Am Right And You Are Wrong And You Better Agree With Me Or I'll Keep Whining About It."

Good day to you sir

Well one change that I did notice, is that before my 250GB HDD was only showing about 230ishGB of space whatsoever, now Snow Leopard shows me as having 250 possible GB, and I'm happy about that.

Maybe I'm just ignorant, but I'm happy with that change so far.

All very nice im sure BUT snow leopard has killed keynote and for me i have to have keynote !!!!!!!! not happy one bit with snow leopard because of this ! any ideas guy's

Found a trick

With Expose activated..

go to the corner that shows all your windows at the same time. Now press the ` key. You can use it to cycle through your windows while in expose mode

Everyone probably already knew that, but I just discovered it after spamming my keyboard

Why does my get info on Macintosh HD not reflect the change in calculating hard drive space.

I have a 320GB hard drive installed, but this reports it as still being 273.67GB. Exactly the same it did in 10.5.

(Obviously, I know that my drive is not actually 320GB, but I thought under 10.6 it should report as one).

I just checked the info pane in my hard drive, and it picked it up as 286.55gb (I have a 320gb one as well). Though on Disk Utility, it does show the capacity as 320.07gb.

I'm not sure if this was different before.

Speaking of which, look at my screenshots. The "Keynote" in the menu bar is standard, while every other app has it in bold.

If you must know, the slideshow is for my Future City application.

Dictionary now lets you three-finger swipe back to previous pages, something I send feedback to Apple for. So you guys can totally thank me for it. :p

Sorry if someone already said this.

Thank you! However, I don't have a laptop so it doesn't affect me. Thanks for submitting Feedback to Apple though. People like you make OS X a better place for ALL of us!

I submitted feedback about iTunes once... to have the ability to double click a playlist or the Music Store and have it open in a second window. The next update, they added that ability! Woohoo!

Not sure if its been mentioned yet, but you can resize icons in Finder if you put your mouse pointer over one and do the pinch for zoom movement on your trackpad.

That’s weird, my 160 GB is reported as 159.7, so it should be working there for you.

And yes, your drive is actually 320 GB. What most people think of as GB is actually GiB (gibibytes). Technically I think GB can apply to both, but since GiB applies to the base 2 numbers, it only makes sense to use GB with base 10 (Two words, two meanings, all logic says that you should give each word one meaning)

Haha, I did that, but I can't figure out how to get them back to their default now lol.
