Some of you are really dreaming if you think they will "add" things before the 11th!

I agree! Maybe we get an extra app or two... whoopee.

Has Apple ever done this before? "Well here's a new product... it will be available two weeks from now!" *two weeks later* "Look, now there's an amazing feature we totally left out when we announced it!"

Glass screen and a youtube app do not count as "amazing features". btw. ;) :p

My gripe list:

hardware:

-- No improved camera
-- No camera flash
-- No external LED indicator for new mail/messages
-- No videoconferencing (front camera)
-- No LED backlit or OLED screen
-- No larger and/or higher-resolution screen
-- No user-replaceable battery
-- No 32 GB option (and $100 premium for an additional 8 GB seems a bit much considering I can find an 8 GB USB 2.0 flash stick for under $20-$30 now).
-- No mini flash memory expansion slot

software/firmware:

-- No local storage for files
-- No video recording
-- No universally-available horizontal keyboard
-- No cut and paste
-- No picture MMS
-- No way to select and email more than 1 photo at a time
-- No basic editing controls for photos (crop, rotate, etc.)
-- No way to specify the downscaling (or to stop it altogether) of photos synced from your computer
-- No way to use .Mac account aliases for sending (it always uses the master account address)
-- No ability to download, save, and sync files from the web
-- No real-time chat (iChat)
-- No Bluetooth support for external devices other than earsets
-- No notes syncing
-- No categories for iCal events
-- No master on/off switch for all alarms (clocks)
-- No preference for adjusting touch sensitivity (I'd like a slight longer tap delay since I'm constantly firing off links accidentally in Safari when I'm really trying to tap and drag)

Now of course some of the software items may show up at some point, I just haven't heard of them yet. Despite some disappointments, I'll still be getting one on July 11. The 3G, GPS, and Exchange support alone are worth it. :)

Nice list, at this point im not sure i'll upgrade, i was hoping for a bunch of the ones you listed. Of them the ones that really burn me are:

No built in Chat
No 32GB
No notes syncing
No built in way to Tether to a laptop
Universal sideways keyboard
No built in way to store files so i dont have to copy a usb HD in my pocket all the time as well

Apple needs to give up these big conventions with "surprises" and secrets, always a huge disappointment filled with pissed off consumers.

Although I am very excited to get my iPhone 2.0 here is my list of things I was hoping for but was let down in order:

1. No 32GB :( And now you know that before the holidays they will release a 32GB one and I will have to upgrade.
2. AT&T raising the DA#$ price on data even thought they NEVER distinguished between 2.5G and 3G data until the day the new iPhone was announced. That really pisses me off, greedy bast#$%@!!!
3. No iChat front camera :(
4. No MMS :(
5. No video recording :(
6. No copy paste :(
7. No deleting single lines of SMS texts :(
8. No camera upgrade or flash :(

As I am listing these I am realizing what happened. It is obvious to me that Apple was VERY VERY focused on pleasing the ENTERPRISE this time around and therefore shifted focus from the CONSUMER. That is the only way of explaining it because all of the things I am listing have been nagged about and requested for OVER A FREAKING YEAR by consumers through like 5 or 6 different updates only to be let down EVERY TIME!

So perhaps now that Apple has addressed the enterprise issues they will now actually give the consumers the features they have been asking for before the freaking thing was even released and every phone in the world already has. It better be soon, and until then I hope there are apps we can buy in the App Store for all this stuff!

I am happy about the saving pics in e-mails and online and the MobileMe stuff though, but still think they should lower the price of MobileMe.

I don't think they should lower the price of Mobile Me at all. Keep it $100 and make sure that it's exclusive.

Seriously though, consumers will never be happy, EVER!

As for the iPhone, I wonder if all these people that are disappointed now, were disappointed a year ago up until now, since nothing much has changed in the feature set. Yes, some things have been added, but a lot of the finer features like flash support, video recording, and what not.

Basically, I hope that the people joining the I Hate iPhone bandwagon are genuine.

I've a Nokia N95 8G, and try the N96 16G, and also try some kind of newest Sony, Samsung and LG.

And I'll say only one thing... iPhone really rocks!!! I'm just waiting the 3G and NEVER came back to another cell :D
- He's fast (N95 and N96 are absolutely slow compare with the iphone)
- He's nice
- He's a very nice and very simple interface
- He's a multitude of program and games...
- He's a true Internet browser
- Camera 2 MP ? N95 has 5MP and....... not nice as the Nikon DX40 of my wife! ;) The 2MP of iPhone is great.
- He's... MULTITOUCH!
- He's iPod
- He's maps, GPS, 3G
- He's OS X...
- He rocks
- I'll buy it
- I'll cry
- I'll be happy
:D

I'm only dissapointed it's not a 32G, whatever... I love iPhone :)
