I enjoyed the book far more. The movie had its moments, but overall was kind of bland. The ending was a yawner.

Meh, not so much. It could've been so much better then it was. Totally not worth the $10 I paid to see it. I don't think it's even rental worthy in my mind.

The highlight however was the new Batman trailer (The Dark Knight). Absolutely amazing!

Agreed! I found myself wanting my £4.25 back! It's definitely not something I'll want to ever see again.

pop quiz hotshot's :

what software was he using to record full screen on that lovely Apple Cinema Display ?

Oh and the film rocked BTW :D

It was a good movie, probably the best of December, but not the year, there were quite a few questions about the movie that made me go over it again in my head and they still haven't been answered. It is scary how realistic that movie was and how it is possible that it could actually happen. One thing that irritated me about it was the fact that the dark-seekers could get through the bolted steel door in a matter of seconds, but it took them about 2-3 minutes just to get close to breaking the glass, bullet-proof or not, it just was not all that realistic.

I wouldn't say its the best movie of the year. The ending was kind of...abrupt? But overall it was a good movie.

I really enjoyed the movie, despite some of the holes in the storyline. My brother tells me that the movie's ending is very different from the book's, and so I'm looking forward to reading the book sometime soon.

I liked the movie too. Not the best ever but a good watch anyway.

However there was something that bugged me.

<Small Spoiler alert>

In this future, where evil creatures lurk the streets at night and the the lead character busy trying to find a cure to this plague, looking for survivors, looking for the bad guys nests, and watching DVD's... Where does he get time to wash, wax and polish his car?

Now assuming he's really bored and does this. Where does that girl get the time to wash and wax her truck at the end of the movie? There were gonna be evil creatures after her if she left too late.

I hate when they try to make the whole thing so realistic and then ruin it with stuff like this. I know it's probably Ford forcing them to make the cars look good because of a sponsorship deal but isn't having their cars in it enough?

I noticed this too, I could write off the Mustang as recently 'taken' from a dealership or something, but the perfect condition of the women's car at the end stuck out like a sore thumb.

All in all I thought it was a good movie, but not great. It needed more depth and explanation about how Will's character survived and set up shop. (Though I think it's definitely a quality rental.)

One thing I did notice that I don't think has been mentioned here is the Movie ad in the deer hunting scene. At one point where Will is outside the car there is a shot of a movie billboard with both the Batman and Superman logo's on it, below I think the date was May 15th 2010... a hint at a project in the works?

I would imagine it would be in the contract. All vehicles used will be fords, and they will look pristine at all times.

If you ask me, a ford is my last choice, and being in the situation he was in, it wouldn't even cross my mind. I'd be going to the toyota dealership or a military base for a humvee.

Not too sure on this his Explorer (? Idk I'm not that great on USDM cars) got smashed up and there are Humvees on the bridge right at the start.

I think it was a great film.

Well it also looked like it could go to war, so i'm sure Ford was all for it. But i mean common, the 5 minute scene with the GT500 in the beginning. I just don't like advertising in movies. They make it so obvious.

What surprising responses! I normally love will smith movies, just for him alone - and the first 30 minutes of I Am Legend rocked... I was in awe at most of that. Post apocalyptic fantasies are a favourite of mine, and abandoned cities something I find fascinating.

For me, after the first 30 minutes it all just sort of wandered off into random disconnected events I didn't care about, and I had to force myself to watch all the way to the end. I went a second time to make sure I didn't miss something really important, but it didn't grab me then either.

I must say, I really enjoyed it and Smith was excellent. I can't see why people have such issues with the ending, fair enough its a departure from your traditional Hollywood fare but that really made it for me. Not for the jumpy people though!

Hmm, interesting, can you (or anyone) recommend me any please?

28 Days Later and the sequel 28 Weeks Later, are both amazing. Then of course there is Dawn of the Dead which is sort of like 28 Days Later but not as good. And then after you have watched them, buckle up and get ready for Children of Men. The most amazing film in the world, so awesome it cannot be explained.

Oh and I really really really liked I Am Legend, it is different than the book but I think it is different enough to make them both great in their own way.

Didn't enjoy the film, tbh. The CGI was less than great, the plot was so diluted by the timeframe of the movie that it was virtually non-existant, and there were so many loose ends you could have used it as a mop. I don't actually think that I would have missed out on too much of the story if I'd just stuck with watching the trailers.

Of course, I stuck it through the whole movie, so I wouldn't say it was terrible. It could have been so much better, though.

Isn't this movie just a remake of "The Omega Man" staring Charlton Heston? You might wonder how this guy would remember that movie... welllll back in '71 I was in basic training at Fort Dix. The first time they let the dogs run we went to the base theatre and Omega Man was showing.

Yes- I liked the ending too. Endings don't always need to be happy.
